  • A pretty good song, created over just two chords..

    - Isn't that the punk aesthetic? - which I don't usually believe in... but it seemed to work here.

---It is true Alaster (sp?) Crowley took more freedoms than is good for any man... and if RH puts much 'faith' in his profane/empty nilhism... that's one strike against him (in my book).

  • imperialpod...ummm...WHAT THE FUCK???? why don't you tell us what the hell you actually mean instead of spewing out reams of avant-garde abuse and just expecting us to agree with you [a child molester?? REALLY?? what on earth gave you that idea??] and for your information he is an incredible songwriter, just listen to any track from Underwater Moonlight or...well, ANYTHING he did with the Egyptians or the Soft Boys. Like jyranpuckett said, if you don't know Robyn's stuff then you won't get it.

  • Hitchcock? more like hitchDICK! AMIRIGHT?????

  • You have to kind-of know Robyn Hitchcock already and kind of "buy-in" to know why this is funny. Much of what Robyn Hitchcock has done has been about CONTEXT. It is just how it is.

  • Such strong feelings about Mr. Hitchcock! The song is powerful.. I didn't think it was THAT powerful.

  • I agree, it is totally awful.

Repeating the great man's name over shows how it is claiming credit by association (A more genuine tribute wouldn't need that) In terms of lyrical quality it is an insult.

  • i am minded to place this high in the ranks of the most appallingly awful songs I have ever had the misfortune to come across.

As a work of art contrasting the subject matter's talent and the song writer's utterly unfulfilled musical aspirations however, it is faultless.

  • such a wonderful song...

  • mysoulispink needs to take a back seat to robyn and take a few months off of his pedistal

  • @mysouliscolouredpink It certainly isn't the most... ambitious tribute, but from what I've read about it, this is something Robyn did kind of for himself. The good intention is there... so I'll take it for what it is. :)

  • @hillstblues987 fair enough. sorry i just realised my comment was kind of dickheaded yesterday. thanks for being reasonable and not replying with the typical "why the fuck are you here then" kind of thing :)

  • @mysouliscolouredpink I am in agreement.Even worse that Ringo's Liverpool song.

  • @mysouliscolouredpink i'd love to him wave. sounds like robyn has done, don't know about you.

  • @mysouliscolouredpink You might be right, but there's a certain hypnotic beauty to this song. It seems to be in a similar vein to "I Know Where Syd Barrett Lives" by Television Personalities. As bland as this may be, any song which sings the praises of Nick Drake is worth at least a listen or two. Not one of his strongest offerings, but some of Robyn Hitchcock's material is utterly sublime.

  • @swuzzups Its the music of a fraud. The music of a child molester. A heroin addict. A Crowley worshiper A Mind Control practitioner. A Lizard sucking kabala running piece of shit. ROBYN HITCHCOCK IS A FRAUD! HE IS A SATAN SUCKING FRAUD and if you don't believe me, invite him over for a Q n A with a polygraph machine. ROBYN HITCHCOCK + POLYGRAPH = JAIL = HIS DEATH.
  • @imperialpod Um, OK.

  • One of Robyn's most delicate and beautiful songs that not only captures the soft folkish tone of nicks Music while still being very much in tribute. The album version is just amazing(see Bram Star-kind of hard to find now.)

  • Thank you. I am crying.

  • cool...i produced the orig version of this.Great bloke, really good guitar player too.

  • Nicely done. Thanks.

  • I saw him at lalapalooza?

  • And now we rise, and we are everywhere

Nick was too pure for this world

  • couldn't say it any better myself

  • hi, just thought you might also like "Tribute to Nick Drake" by Nicolai Dunger, its quite hard to find online, i found it on a swedish site and had to pay for it (shocking!) but if you are a nick drake fan, like me you will enjoy it, as it forms part of the collectin, but its also a very beautiful song, as you will hear for yourself :)

  • i'd love to hear it! I'll have to do some searching

  • What a nice song to find here. I've always been fan of Nick Drake's music, and this is very classy tribute to him, performed by another classy artist. Well done.
