135i only won cuz its around 300 pounds lighter then the evo and around 20 more whp.. on the track the evo totally kills it.. or just raising the boost a bit will kill the bmw on the streets as well
fYi.. i know what the 135 has same as 335 535 and so on. i know thats how bmw keeps up with their engine and series models to name their cars. i was simply stating the evo weighs alot more and has less HP with only around a 5 thousand dollar price tag difference. so if you still dont get what i mean is that if they weighed and had the same HP the evo would totally kill. if you still dont get it all an evo has to do is loose around 200lbs and get a EBC wich is like $600 for an extremely good one
I understood what you said. All i'm saying is that your argument does not hold any value because you want EVO to lose weight and increase boost. Both of which can be done to a 135i, though loosing weight will be harder. I brought up the 2 liter vs 3 liter to equation because assuming everything is equal between the 2 motors except displacement. The bigger motor will generate more power. There's just no substitute for displacement.
yea not arguing sorry if it sounded like i was. & i understand more displacement means more power in the long run but a 2L evo can make 800whp with simply a GT42r turbo even a gt35r can make 600hp EASY. Mitsubishi makes crappy cars in the sense of luxury but all their engines could handle 1000hp with not much money mainly just internals and a huge ass turbo and the engine can handle it easy. my friend owns a benz SL63 and e46 3 series he tells me its MUCH more expensive tuning any German car.

AMS has an evo X at 750whp already, where is the potential for the 135? dont get me wrong they look great and sound nice, drive great. But I won't buy a car for its STOCK capabilities. the BMW cost about 10grand more also. put that same 10grand into aftermarket for the evo and see which wins. a V6 twin turbo vs an inline 4cyl shouldn't be a match. who cares if the turbos are extra small.

@igotastove actually you still got it wrong. inline 6 for the BMW and inline 4 for the EVO. and BMW has been making cars for how long? and not EVERY evo has extensive aftermarket. even the new evo x which are barely older have a vastly superior aftermarket. You can still drive an evo and look professional. Just don't rice it up with stickers,. BMW is heavier and more luxury. kinda like a lexus. I want a car that has performance and potential despite what people at my office think.
@igotastove it depends on the type of evo u r taking about. there r different type fq 300, fq 360 or fq 400. the one u r looking at is the lowest powered one(291hp, usa version).the 135 is a good car. but the evo is a beast world wide( world legend to be precise)..i won`t buy both cars.but i`ll give respect to whom it`s due. evo 4 me.
With a small blackbox you can increase your 135i / 335i to 351 hp without modding the ECU. Box was deleoped and made in Germany and installation is done within 15 mins. Interested ? Send me a private message.

sorry for using unpleasant but i had a saab 900 convertable and i know the build qualitys not as good as bimmer but there was a lot of shakes and rattles in the Cold weather also the car would be really cold but if u dont have the cold weather to deal with the coupe will be just slightly more stiff
The EVO actually does outhandle the 135i. The EVO pulls .99G vs. .92G for the 135i. Not only that but it pulls a higher slalom speed as well: 72mph vs. 69mph. The way the 135 keeps up is because of power and weight. The EVO weighs 3550lbs vs. 3375 lbs. The EVO dynos at 265whp vs. 285whp for the 135i.
i only thing they have in common is around 300 hp and around same price lol,,, wtf....... a evo is a track car lol meant for tuning and track etc, a 135 is a luxury sports coupe, not meant for tuning and people who get this car are not going to the track. these cars have different proposes lol,
ya maybe there a few people who will do what you do and that perfectly fine. i am just saying that people who get a evo are looking for something different. a evo is just a way different car, i feel that you can not compare these cars. a better comparison would be the 135i to a g37 because they have same price range and both are sports/luxury cars
If you'd do your homework on the 135 you'll realize it's any tuners dream, at least to the ones who know enough about the car. BMW built the 135i as an alternative for a performance car since the M3 has skyrocketed in price. After they've built the 135i it actually ended up being faster than the E92 M3 in some aspects. The 135 was then detuned and sent out. A simple chip to the 135i would increase your bhp 50-80 and lbs 60-100 depending on how much you're willing to pay.
i agree this bmw can be tune, but what you dont understand is that ,you can take a evo to the next level when it comes to tuning. when people get a evo they are not thinking luxury and a nice all round car, they want the stock recaro seats and the all wheel drive so then can take corners better and they want to tune there car. people who get the bmw are thinking of a great all around car, and like the power of the bmw, they are not think of putting new turbos in or getting a exhaust or intake...
That all depends on the person, but the BMW is a lot likely to attract a more mature crowd as opposed to the Evo. All wheel drive doesn't make the Evo handle well, its computers do and even with that it doesn't out handle the 135i if they're both stock. Getting bigger turbo's in the 135i doesn't make much sense when you get can well over 400bhp with boltons, and yes they do think of putting on boltons, infact it's one of the first things they do.
They put on the boltons mainly to increase airflow throughout the car. Most Evo's end up racing on the dragstrip since heavy tuning, which could also be done on any other car, mess up the whole cars computers which is what really makes it good on the track. People who buy BMW's don't go that far because a lot of the enthusiasts that buy them, buy them for their great handling, mods like boltons/chips don't affect that nearly as much as upgrading turbo's and boosting it up to over 500bhp.
@360mmspider still id rather have some skill detirmine how i go around a track then a four wheel drive system that does it for me. sure the evo is a lovely car to have fun with but if you really wanna feel the edge you need the beamer. besides there are people who put some "new" turbo's on the 135 they now kill m3's

@lolzoretwo on the streets real world awd is better. The amount of down force and materials used in F1 cars are not available real world. Their tire life can be counted in hours instead of miles. F1 cars hve 40k steering wheels so thats apples and oranges. Out of the box and awd will wax a rwd. It takes alot of money to get a rwd over 400whp to handle in all conditions
@360mmspider I think you should re-state... People that are not professional drivers will pick the Evo because it is easier to turn, not that it is more capable especially in heavily tuned form. Every BMW tracker puts wider tires on their cars and loses the staggered setup, it massively improves track handling.
For most drivers, yes the Evo will yield a quicker lap time, but it's hardly more capable.
How is it faster? Everything I've read puts their 1/4 mile performance even. Just wondering where you get the "must faster" from. Butt dynos aren't accurate.
the evo really starts slowin down around 80mph and my 135i doesnt stop...itt accelerates very quickly all the way to the 155mph limiter...watch the top gear ausi video the 135i waste the evo...ive owned both cars...you could even check out my myspaceto if you dont think i have owned both of them
I've driven my friend's gsr 5 speed. It didn't seem to slow down at 80 for me. I've also test driven the 135i at a dealer, it felt the same. Even comparing the 1/4 mile times they're performance is pretty much spot on. Japanese cars have underrated their numbers for the longest time. Because of the gentlemen's agreement that no car will advertise over 276hp. And yeah I can't wait for the STI to switch back to the sedan, the hatch looks retarded to me.
but on the other hand...if i would of got te gsr instead of the mr i probly wouldnt of kept that...the mr dual clutch is the worst ive used...i love vws dsg...ill never go back to an auto or and auto stick
What bothers me is that They are still comparing a COUPE to a SEDAN. This would be more accurate to me if they were to compare the Evo X to the 335i which is the same engine in 4 door form. Or even better.... they could compare the Evo X to the 335ix so they could compare AWD Sedans back to back..... That would be an interesting comparison to read/watch about.

I would take 135i if I could, but Evo would be also damn good. It's all about how you see things. I would like to own a piece of every car/brand/etc. on this planet! fYi.. i know what the 135 has same as 335 535 and so on. i know thats how bmw keeps up with their engine and series models to name their cars. i was simply stating the evo weighs alot more and has less HP with only around a 5 thousand dollar price tag difference. so if you still dont get what i mean is that if they weighed and had the same HP the evo would totally kill. if you still dont get it all an evo has to do is loose around 200lbs and get a EBC wich is like $600 for an extremely good one

I understood what you said. All i'm saying is that your argument does not hold any value because you want EVO to lose weight and increase boost. Both of which can be done to a 135i, though loosing weight will be harder. I brought up the 2 liter vs 3 liter to equation because assuming everything is equal between the 2 motors except displacement. The bigger motor will generate more power. There's just no substitute for displacement.

yea not arguing sorry if it sounded like i was. & i understand more displacement means more power in the long run but a 2L evo can make 800whp with simply a GT42r turbo even a gt35r can make 600hp EASY. Mitsubishi makes crappy cars in the sense of luxury but all their engines could handle 1000hp with not much money mainly just internals and a huge ass turbo and the engine can handle it easy. my friend owns a benz SL63 and e46 3 series he tells me its MUCH more expensive tuning any German car.

AMS has an evo X at 750whp already, where is the potential for the 135? dont get me wrong they look great and sound nice, drive great. But I won't buy a car for its STOCK capabilities. the BMW cost about 10grand more also. put that same 10grand into aftermarket for the evo and see which wins. a V6 twin turbo vs an inline 4cyl shouldn't be a match. who cares if the turbos are extra small.

@igotastove actually you still got it wrong. inline 6 for the BMW and inline 4 for the EVO. and BMW has been making cars for how long? and not EVERY evo has extensive aftermarket. even the new evo x which are barely older have a vastly superior aftermarket. You can still drive an evo and look professional. Just don't rice it up with stickers,. BMW is heavier and more luxury. kinda like a lexus. I want a car that has performance and potential despite what people at my office think.

@igotastove it depends on the type of evo u r taking about. there r different type fq 300, fq 360 or fq 400. the one u r looking at is the lowest powered one(291hp, usa version).the 135 is a good car. but the evo is a beast world wide( world legend to be precise)..i won`t buy both cars.but i`ll give respect to whom it`s due. evo 4 me.

@igotastove the BMW costs about 10k more. plus they are using the MR which is a bit heavier. for another 10grand this thing better be slightly faster. it also depends on the driver. people have reviewed this car doing 0-60 in 4.7 read magazines and watch videos. seriously look at aftermarket for both. check out AMS and get back to me.

sorry for using unpleasant but i had a saab 900 convertable and i know the build qualitys not as good as bimmer but there was a lot of shakes and rattles in the Cold weather also the car would be really cold but if u dont have the cold weather to deal with the coupe will be just slightly more stiff

The EVO actually does outhandle the 135i. The EVO pulls .99G vs. .92G for the 135i. Not only that but it pulls a higher slalom speed as well: 72mph vs. 69mph. The way the 135 keeps up is because of power and weight. The EVO weighs 3550lbs vs. 3375 lbs. The EVO dynos at 265whp vs. 285whp for the 135i.

If you'd do your homework on the 135 you'll realize it's any tuners dream, at least to the ones who know enough about the car. BMW built the 135i as an alternative for a performance car since the M3 has skyrocketed in price. After they've built the 135i it actually ended up being faster than the E92 M3 in some aspects. The 135 was then detuned and sent out. A simple chip to the 135i would increase your bhp 50-80 and lbs 60-100 depending on how much you're willing to pay.

i agree this bmw can be tune, but what you dont understand is that ,you can take a evo to the next level when it comes to tuning. when people get a evo they are not thinking luxury and a nice all round car, they want the stock recaro seats and the all wheel drive so then can take corners better and they want to tune there car. people who get the bmw are thinking of a great all around car, and like the power of the bmw, they are not think of putting new turbos in or getting a exhaust or intake...

That all depends on the person, but the BMW is a lot likely to attract a more mature crowd as opposed to the Evo. All wheel drive doesn't make the Evo handle well, its computers do and even with that it doesn't out handle the 135i if they're both stock. Getting bigger turbo's in the 135i doesn't make much sense when you get can well over 400bhp with boltons, and yes they do think of putting on boltons, infact it's one of the first things they do.

They put on the boltons mainly to increase airflow throughout the car. Most Evo's end up racing on the dragstrip since heavy tuning, which could also be done on any other car, mess up the whole cars computers which is what really makes it good on the track. People who buy BMW's don't go that far because a lot of the enthusiasts that buy them, buy them for their great handling, mods like boltons/chips don't affect that nearly as much as upgrading turbo's and boosting it up to over 500bhp.

F1 cars hve 40k steering wheels so thats apples and oranges. Out of the box and awd will wax a rwd. It takes alot of money to get a rwd over 400whp to handle in all conditions

@360mmspider I think you should re-state... People that are not professional drivers will pick the Evo because it is easier to turn, not that it is more capable especially in heavily tuned form. Every BMW tracker puts wider tires on their cars and loses the staggered setup, it massively improves track handling.
For most drivers, yes the Evo will yield a quicker lap time, but it's hardly more capable.
BMW sport seats are better than those recaros.

I've driven my friend's gsr 5 speed. It didn't seem to slow down at 80 for me. I've also test driven the 135i at a dealer, it felt the same. Even comparing the 1/4 mile times they're performance is pretty much spot on. Japanese cars have underrated their numbers for the longest time. Because of the gentlemen's agreement that no car will advertise over 276hp. And yeah I can't wait for the STI to switch back to the sedan, the hatch looks retarded to me.

What bothers me is that They are still comparing a COUPE to a SEDAN. This would be more accurate to me if they were to compare the Evo X to the 335i which is the same engine in 4 door form.
