I would hate being controled like that. only one minute to talk that so lame and kinda embarising. there is no reason to treat those tryin to represent us like cattle
I'm a conservative and while I disagree with Dennis's views, I respect him far more than most people on the left. At least he believes what he says and isn't doing it for some underhanded reason. I'm sure if your on the left you can find some people on the right whom are similar in nature. I'm not going to vote for him, but I'm not going to talk sh*t, either.
Damn, every time I hear Dennis Kucinich speak I envision him as President of the United States of America. God, he would do so much good for this country and people all around the world.
Nope, she didn't shut him down. In congress each time a person speaks they're given a time limit. They may ask for an extension and it's usually granted, but that's how it works, after the allotted time, the gavel is banged and the current speaker is informed their time is up (which is what she was doing). The rules are more complex than that, but that's basically how it works.
Hey, i wasn't able to watch the whole thing, even after refreshing the page .. video stopped at 1:04. Someone drop me a line if it's working again? Thanks ..
The Public Option is far from dead. Now is the time to turn up the heat and apply pressure. Make your calls and demand they use the reconciliation option. I have the numbers on my profile if you need them. Also call Baucus, Lincoln and Conrad and let them know they are traitors. In the comment section you will find several other resources you may find helpful as well. Together we CAN and we WILL do this. :) Thanks.
I'd actually be a little more comfortable if Obama's rules were imposed under an already NATIONAL healthcare system, rather than trying to turn private insurers into charities, which they most certainly are NOT. Do the people who craft these silly regulations EVER read economics textbooks or journal articles? Did they even pay attention in Econ class in college? Keynesianism is no excuse for bankrupting insurance plans. I'd be a little more comfortable if the public option were still here.
And the worst part of the current plan is that very few of the people who drafted it have ANY economic sense. All the extra mandates will likely drive insurers out of business, increasing the uninsured population and forcing them to either add to the public healthcare rolls or go bankrupt for healthcare once again. "Insurance reform" my ass. It's just telling insurers to cover MORE expensive people but not allowing them the economic tools they need to lower or contain costs. Nonsense.
Obama and the Dems' current main healthcare proposal, without the public option, looks MUCH less inviting, esp. to a libertarian like me who knows LOTS of pro-market tools that could lower costs and allow consumers to regain their power in the healthcare market. Republicans are doing a disservice to the country if they don't provide at least one ALTERNATIVE healthcare bill in this debate and just oppose the Democrats'. You see, if Libertarians were elected, that nonsense would never go on.
Duh.....I think it's because 1% of americans hold 95% of the country's wealth.
What are you gonna say, Oh well that's just capitalism. It's sham capitalism.....I say you just call out those 1% and declare them Kings and Queens. Then you can spare this b.s.
You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor. - Sound familiar?
Your comment breaks down into this core belief: You believe that the top 1% does not deserve their wealth that they have earned and that those who have not earned that wealth do somehow deserve it.
Wow, someone like you must truly be one of the most wisest of us all to be able to determine who deserves what in life.
Well, if you don't think they are running a good business, maybe you should boycott them. Heres a couple for starters: Microsoft, Google, Walmart,Nike,Amazon.
I'll start you out with those considering how hard it is to not just google something.
Also, try this one. Go up to Bill Gates or Warren Buffet and explain to them how they do not work hard and you believe they do not deserve the money they earn. That could make for some good conversation.
CEO hours vary greatly. They can work 20-80 hour work weeks, depending on the type of business, the size of the business, etc.
Also, you can not look at hourly wages so linearly. Hourly wages/salaries are determined by a plethora of reasons, the main ones being: supply and demand, difficulty of the work, skill of the worker etc.
No not the wisest, however I have the ability to think in rational terms.
I don't want to see 95% of the wealth in 1% of the peoples hands and have them be taxed the least. What don't you understand about that. That's not Capitalism in America. It's what a failed system has degraded into. The number of poor, hungry and sick should never be so large in a country with so much wealth. Is that what your proud of??
Personally, I am in favor of a flat tax for everyone with no loop holes. The progressive tax is not american and needs to be done away with.
In america today we have fat poor people, I consider this amazing. Everyone has access to health care in america, even illegals. Anyone can walk into a hospital and be treated.
Preventative care will always trump emergency care in cost and effectiveness. Better to prevent smoking than to treat his emphysema and lung cancer after he starts.
The flat tax is fine if we assume that the capitalism is just, but it is not. The top 1% ride on the back of the bottom 99%. THIS is not American.
Bottom 99%? If you want to make that arguement the only people that the corporations can ride on the back of is the workers.
The correct statement would be: the top 1% ride on the back of the top 50%.
Which, in this day and age, is a complete falsehood. Due to some socialist principles put into place and with the help of the unions, the idea of the "oppressed worker" of yesterday is gone.
True, the average worker doesn't need to be oppressed right out any more. The "oppressed worker"-image is replace by the "divine board of directors". Now, not just workers are oppressed, but almost every taxpayer can watch his money flying into the hands of giant corporate CEO's. . That's America for you, and basically the rest of the West, so pledge fucking allegiance.
This is one of the few things I dislike about Kucinich: his bias against profit and big business. Now, it's great to hold business accountable every now and then, but you shouldn't make such facetious statements as "profit is what makes our healthcare system suck" or that profit somehow PROMOTES low-quality care. Profit makes the world go round! You think altruism can provide EVERYTHING? Altruism has a limit, and there'd be far fewer doctors in the US with ridiculously low salaries.
The problem is not profit, per se, but the lack of REAL competition in today's healthcare system. There's way too many fucking mandates by the state and federal governments. Consumers can't pick and choose the best plans for them and negotiate with insurers. Instead, they have to take whatever the state says the insurers must provide as a basic minimum.
Well, ya know what? I'm sick and fucking tired of governmnet treating us like children! We don't need UHC or any of that other bs.
47 million uninsured plus 50 million "underinsured"? Right... So 100 million out of 300 million Americans are getting screwed. ...No, sorry, that's not true. I'll bet Kucinich got his facts from skewed leftist sources. Not to mention the 47 million is atotal bullshit lie. The number of REAL American citizens who can't afford insurance is closer to 8-13 mil. And how do these people who collect the data define "underinsured"? I doubt the threshold is very big. Seems like a subjective term.

Hating someone for their income alone is just as silly as racism or sexism.
