  • I love how he thinks Cop Out is a new beginning for him.

  • i respect kevin 100% for wanting to branch out and do different things, he needs to show other people how its done

  • kevin, it's a shame how much you don't get.

    damn.

  • I think he short-changes himself by saying he has no style. His strength is having tons of dialogue and that is why Clerks and Chasing Amy were great(And Dogman was solid). That's his signature. Later on he made shit silly movies with Jay and Silent Bob when he cut the dialogue, trying to maintain a bigger balance but it did not have the juice of his earlier flicks.

  • Hey, cool. I went to that Bloor Cinema event he was talking about and he spent like 10 minutes answering my question about maturity in film writing by equating it to life experiences and basically broke it down by telling me to live my life to the fullest by experiencing sexuality in various forms. So, basically he told me to suck a dick for 10 minutes. It was awesome!

  • I think Kevin smith wrote most of the dialogue in donnie darko.I thought that was some of the best thing about the film. I tried to understand certain things in the film but felt lost and didn't get chunks of it but had some basic ideas that seem true but i hated that they left things out of the film to make people lost and have to look the film up to fully get the film. Because of important info they left out i thought the dialogue along with the acting was the best thing.

  • The sequel could have been "two dicks one cop"

  • If that makes you feel any good man I don't think You're gonna earlier than You think man.......

    :)

  • Love how Kevin basically interviews himself. Who needs an interviewer when you've got the master at dialogue himself. This guy doesn't even need to be in a relationship, he can have excellent conversations with himself.

Also funny how he knows every stereotypical situation so well that he preempts them before finishing his point, just in case the haterz are listening.

"That would explain a thing or two.. about... a thing or two" - Kevin Smith

  • @ 3:02 does he say he read a couple of dicks ? lol

  • @shawnio "Writer / Director Kevin Smith in an exclusive interview discusses his upcoming film "A Couple Of Dicks""

    Idiot...

  • the most amazing thing, is when you can talk about nothing, and have people listen.

  • COP OUT is his least funny movie, but even that has some touches where you wouldn't know Kevin Smith directed it. The action scenes are fairly good, especially the gun fight at the end. Only Problems were Tracy Morgan going over the top constantly....and I like 30 Rock, so that's saying how terrible he was.

  • @83phatman he didnt write it, maybe because of that

  • How can I find Kevin Smith E-mail? Plz... send me his e-mail on Private Message.

  • I'm enjoying hearing him tell these stories. I'm guessing George Carlin had a pretty big influence on his attitudes about his career and his great rhetorical skills are.

  • It's amazing how articulate he is, considering he's talking like there are a thousand ideas, scenarios, jokes and experiences he's trying to get out in just a few minutes. If I had no clue who he was, my first instinct would be that he's got to be some kind of writer.

  • Kevin Smith makes me wanna write, I wish I knew how to compile my ideas and actually do it..Love you Big Kev

  • @toobad890 If you ever want to write a script just start writing it your way and if you want it to look professional get celtx on the internet its completely free and can make your script look really pro.

  • @MowenStudios I just have no experience or knowledge on how to write a script haha, I just have a lot of ideas, but I dont know who to format them or put them on paper..

  • @toobad890 I'm With MowenStudios On This One. Celtx IS A Great Program, And Very Easy To Use.

  • LMAO wanna go see a couple dicks

  • Haha...love how you can see his bong on the shelf behind him lol

  • dude cop out was shit really bad and yes it wasn't your script but yeah it sucked ballz, and for your consideration jersey girl was sweet i really liked it i never new what people were expecting it was complete and i thought is was cool and fucking sweet dude, you have so much more dude write direct give it out mofo welove you kev you fuckin rock ps love your book, also dude does your wife ever give you shit in what goes into print

  • there is always like 2 dislikes... fuckin trolls

  • @ChrisDayRocks What's a troll

  • @Batistta56 someone who posts really nasty comments.

  • @Batistta56 Welcome to the internet.

  • He still has 10 more years with all that fat.

  • Please DON'T DIE EARLY!!

  • I've heard people mention here and there that Smith goes back on some of the stuff he said in previous interviews. It's not really "going back" its growing up a bit. We all change our ideas and opinions as we mature. Some change politically, artistically or philosophically. Why can't smith? Should he feel the same way and do the same thing for his entire career? I hope I'm never held to the things I said when I was a dumb 20 year old. I'm sure many of us feel the same.

  • Awesome!

  • what does O.o mean?i see it everywhere

  • it's like a representation of a blank stare. So when someone puts that they're kinda goin like what? or what the hell?

  • He's so human. ok this has been bothering me since part1, is that a bong right above his right shoulder? The black shape there?

  • I see it too!

  • @Kroxeldiphibic he does smoke pot, so it probably is.

  • @tokillacatchersrye I'd love to chill n blaze with kevin smith, that'd be sweet.

  • dude Kevin Smith is an amazing film maker writer and director i will see and buy any movie of his even if he just directs it idc what anyone says he an amazing writer and director

  • @MovieMan2117 hes wrong about that 7 minute shot in clerks it had a unique charm.. this guy goes back on his word sometimes depending on his neurotic mood. great movie maker tho

  • Die Hard 3 starring Bruce Willis and Sam jackson is the ultimate cop movie, even tou Sam was never a Cop it still was awsome

  • Kevin smith is my hero, I know he thinks he's shit film maker, but I watch at least 1 of his movies everyday, the day he dies is a sad day....

  • Yes, I love the guy, and ive read his books and diary where he diets and battles smoking, but man he has an awesome family, and a huge amount of fans. He needs to take care of himself a bit better.

  • damn ur a die hard fan i just hope his movies made u less suicidal and his best movie might be the original clerks

  • that is really irrelevant and a douchebag thing to say

  • tarantino's inglorious has a 23 min scene, a little boring but still entertaining at the end

  • the intro?

  • Please don't die early, Kev. Please don't die at all. Be an old fuck still making the best comedies I can relate to in film. You're my hero, Kevin Smith. You're a big reason I write.

  • Bong to his left just above his left (his right) shoulder

  • i bet you could tear up some "where's waldo?"

  • ahahahahahahahahahahah XD no im just a pothead with a drugs radar ^^

like this friend of mine, he senses asians o_O weird shit ^^ he knows where they are way before i do :P

he has some asian blood tho so maybe its because of that O_o

  • i noticed it in the first video, 2 mins in haha, good eye my friend :P

  • thnx :P its good to see kevin is still on the chronic ^^

  • haha fo sho

  • sounds like he's going threw mid-life crisis O.o

  • Which is a good thing because it is a point of realization in one's life where significant change is made. Too few people reach this point. Most of us will continue to do things that hurt others and make ourselves unhappy for the rest of our lives.

  • jersey girl ruled

  • I feel like since Jersey Girl, Smith has been too careful. Its like he got back on the horse... but now he's too scared to gallop.

  • not true dude. Clerks 2 was perfect: funny, well received and profitable.

If you mean they don't feel like J&SB movies it's because they weren't meant to be [aside from Clerks 2 obviously].

I have liked them all for what they were. Zach and Miri took a few watches

  • he's too self conscious to really be able to create something without inhibition or fear.

I dig smodcast and watching him in interviews but as a director I wouldn't put him above brett ratner. Both are overall serviceable directors with no real distinguishable styles.

He should try to write something great instead of just making money wherever he can.

    good luck kev..

  • your retarded hes not about the money at all...

  • hey son, wanna see a couple of dicks?

  • @zaengo only a couple?

  • So is it going to be called, "A Couple Of Dicks", or "A Couple Of Cops"?

  • As far as i'm aware its not 100% confirmed yet but it does seem in the recent interviews i've seen that Kevin is definetely moving away from "A Couple Of Dicks" because of pressure from the studios that it isn't a marketable title. I for one don't like the newer title at all. I think he should do what Quentin did for "Inglorious Basterds" by changing the spelling of the curse word. Something like "A Couple Of Dickes". Just my 2 cents.

  • hmm... like "Meet the Fockers"? might want to think that

  • Clerks is. Easily.

  • Kevin Smith is pretty real, and very honest and that's a pretty awesome thing to get in a filmmaker, which I think does shine through more times than not.

  • I'm going to see this movie before I decide if this movie is "a" Kevin Smith movie.

  • This is the best interview i've seen with kevin smith

  • when he said Cullen brothers I thought he said Coen brothers and i nearly shit my pants.

  • me too...

  • I really like that he sees "Clerks." as a big part of the indie movement.

  • Good.

  • kevin smith is awesome

  • so no more jay and silent bob?

  • i like kevin smith. he's straight talking, honest and funny. i swear when i see him being interviewed or doing Q and A i wish i could be that good at talking haha.

  • i remember when i first found out that Silent Bob was the writer and director of Mallrats, i couldn't get my head around it "the quiet guy with the shit hair?!"

  • lol I hear ya. I was like "What?! The tubby bitch with the Batman ears and the rope..?"

  • Smith is a genius!

  • Moonlighting....yeah!

  • Not to mention Superbad ( superrr popular when it came out) was by Seth Rogen ( Who says Smith inspired that movie[with clerks] even though it like a true story) So Clerks is a cheap legacy =)

  • your holy fucking bible

  • HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA.. and did you know jesus was a jew?

  • Wow! This guy can talk! His brain is racing and somehow his tongue manages to keep up. Amazing.

    Anyway...this is intriguing.

  • SEAGRAMS!!!!

  • Did I say I didn't like his work? Re-read what I said or hush.

  • Why bash him? There's no need for it. He has done nothing to you.

  • Why do you bother watching his interview then if you don't like his work? How pathetic of a creature are you? My God, sir. Get a life.

  • directing a movie with Bruce Willis in it would be enough for me! lol

  • lol man. i wish i was that long-winded.

  • Arthur5041975 typical internet d-bag.

  • the little cat in the backround is calling me...

  • "Give fatty a mic and he'll entertain ya", lol jk. Kevin Smith doesn't have to explain nothing to no one, he just can and will.

  • I say it's a tie between Dogma and Chasing Amy...kinda depends on my mood. Although I havn't seen Zack and Miri

  • yo kevin smith go to garden state film festival this weekend

  • clerks is fuckn wicked man!!what the fuck???

  • I like the fact he had the balls to speak against Howard stern talking shit about him all the time. Sorry for calling u a fat useless hack who makes shitty movies Kevin, your alright do ur thing*

  • I wouldn't go as far to say Im a fan, just that I'm not hating on the guy like I used to be,hell I havent even seen one of his flicks from beginning to end. He just seems like an opinionated dude who's not gonna let people fuck with him.

  • hi hater

  • Moonlighting was on Tuesdays. After Who's the boss and Growing Pains. That was back when Tuesday nights were the shit.

  • growing pains was a decent show, family ties as well.

  • ...and shit

  • cats?

  • if you don't know who he is why would you even watch it? why would you click on a link like that?

go to IMDb and look up the name Kevin Smith

  • Don´t feed the troll

  • you're right, i should be more like Kevin Smith.

It's just a shame that some people can be so retarded

  • u r a fucking hater won't u take u happy ass a film a movie better u hater clown ur noboby he has money while ur broke tpying bout him broke clown

  • lol he's more successful than you'll ever be.

  • If he's a nobody why are you searching for videos of him on youtube?! lol

  • i just love him. and always know that watching his interviews will be pleasurable, I adore listening to him:)

interesting thing here though; it appears we share same unexplainable "feeling" of dying "early", lol

  • this man can talk

  • ooooooooo yeaaaa

    bloor cinema!

  • naw. mallrats is, hands down.

  • i truly hope he does not die early, Kevin Smith is a fantastic man and I love his work.

  • He made Clerks, Clerks 2, and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Very good director.

  • mallrats, zack and miri....hes a fucken genius

  • I didn't like zack and miri that much, perhaps I should watch it again with a sound mind? I did like it, just not as much as the others.

  • Stranahan

    High School

    Institute of

Technology... hope you guys get it.

  • im getting a feeling that this movie isnt going to be as good as real kevin smith movies :/

  • I excited for this movie!

  • ***I'm

  • Who is this guy?

  • seriously?

  • Of course, I've never heard of him.

  • He plays silent bob, and directs movies.

  • Oh....OK.

  • Where is Jay?

  • Lol this is Director's Excerpt.

  • Kevin is fatter in real life.

  • I'm still looking forward to it, Kevin Smith is still an excellent film-maker, and if he chooses a script based on his what his father would enjoy, then giddup :)

  • Thanks for these posts. Stranahan. It seems to be really cool ,this maturing and aging when you don't look at life in a THIS SUCKS frame. Nomatter how you cut it ....this was an enjoyable insight into Kevin Smith.

  • i love these, but what i don't understand is why you have to separate these into pieces and upload them once every millennium. I get that you want a stead stream of people over a large amount of time, but jesus man just let us watch the interview.

  • YouTube doesn't allow you to do videos over 10 minutes - I've already pushed that twice.

Each 10 minute chunk takes over two hours to create titles for, render, and upload. I have a full time job and I'm in the middle of moving and living in hotel with 3 other people who want to use the computer plus I like to eat and sleep.

  • Clerks 2 would have been a good way for the "Askewniverse". Not that it was necessarily the best of his films, but the ending leaves you with just the right feeling that everything has come full circle.

  • good way for the "Askewniverse" to go out, that is.

  • Doyou et qui se pique le cul avec un cactus.

Un anglais arrive et lui demande:

    - Do you speak english?

    Et Doyou répond:

    - Non Doyou s'pique le cul!

  • What a fantastic interview! I just watched all three segments. How did you get this interview? Smith is such an interesting speaker with so much going on behind the scenes.

  • met Kevins mother and brother in a town in Florida where i live, great people. They distribute jay and silent bob stuff here. his mother showed me a room full of stuff in her house, pretty cool experiance. Kevin if you read this I would love a acting job.

  • are those music cd's games or dvds behind him, hes got a lot!!

  • I totally respect Kevin's material, dialog-driven stuff appeals to me, even though I do admit to having a bit of an optics fetish at times. Really enjoyed his DeGrassi stints, as well. Great interview!

  • At least there's no one going, "hey, is that a bong?!?" on THIS page.

  • hahahah

  • I just found this interview/channel and boom, here's part 3. Very cool for a smodcast listener like me.

  • Awesome interview.... really nice.

  • Stranahan you lucky bastard!

  • such-a tease, I'll be looking for the rest.

  • Very awesome. Can't wait for the next part.
