He was the youngest USCF master, not youngest grandmaster, and the record was taken by Samuel Sevian in 2010. I'm not diminuing his achievement, just making a rectification about the misleading title.

@klado1990 Nicholas is part of the United States Chess Federation which is an official organization for chess players and he is a 'master' according to ratings and that pretty good. How about know your stuff before you comment so you don't sound like an idiot?
@nanuka711 Thats hella stupid, I know the guy (don't go to his school but I teach him) and Nicholas is really nice and social. He isn't the best at everything or snobby because he plays chess. I think you need to get a life.
Hate to tell you guys this, but Nip quit playing in tournaments very shortly after this video was made...he has been inactive for the past couple of years.
Back in the day, I played in some of the same expert section tournaments as he did though, and got to see his games. He had a pretty interesting, solid style, waiting for the opponent to make an error before taking advantage. Shame he gave it up, but that's how it goes sometimes.
What are you talking about? According to both the USCF and FIDE, he has not played a rated game since he made master back in 2008. According to databases, his last game was in 2008, too;

@nanuka711 This is true for alot of competitive sports, you find top players don't have very good social skills. I don't think I'd want the life of a top player, in any type of game/sport , and I think people have got it all wrong to begin with, it's really not about winning at all cost despite everything it's about what you get from the game, what it does for you.
@Dirtfire well, yeah, and the Mideast and Russia as well. As most people do when they say "Asia", I meant East-Asia. I suppose I should've been more specific.
@lewiszim Regis is not so bad. But Kelly with her, "it makes you feel so smart!" every twenty seconds? Naw...the average person feels that way every time she opens her mouth.
uh no. there aren't 208,089,907,200 possible chess positions, that's like the first 3 moves or something. There is calculated to be about 10^127 chess positions in like 40 moves. That's 10 with 127 0's after it. Just so you know. That's more than the amount of atoms in the known universe.
