  • Anyone noes if he still goes to st annes of the sunset he use to be my friend i would really like to talk to him again

  • He has a billion trophies by now - but he was gracious.

  • I play level 3 of 10 chess on my computer and my brain hurts.

  • Level Asian!!!

  • i go to school with this kid, except hes older than me and hes student body pres.

  • fisher would beat the ... out of this kid lol

  • hey play Kasparov he will kick your azz

  • He was the youngest USCF master, not youngest grandmaster, and the record was taken by Samuel Sevian in 2010. I'm not diminuing his achievement, just making a rectification about the misleading title.

He broke Hikaru Nakamura's record in fact! :)

Rated 2207 at 9 years old.

  • @JapanischesMinzoel he 13 now

  • i went to school with him he might be a chesschampion but hes a crybaby

  • @MrTwinklebrownie u really went to school with him....wooow- how old are you now?

  • An Oriental with the surname Nip? Oh, you're killin' me over here.

  • Whoops he didn't win a game... Back to boarding school

  • of course... Asian

  • @poofkaboom russians and (some) americans dominate the scene. what do you mean?

  • @MrDeathIncorporated and mexicans cough cough

  • he should be around my age now... i have to beat him! though i've never been in a tournament. and i've barely beaen people but... i ought to beat him... if he beats me i have to make sure i at least have to destroy his pawn. :D

  • I saw some decent positions such as a sicilian-ish variation looking position at 2:26, opposite-side castling

  • It would be funny if he said " yes i have a girlfriend " ( and he picked up the queen and smiled) lol

  • i don't think some of them were so good as chess

  • i can't bealive...bravo

  • @Vultraz168 Awesome. It's a shame he doesn't play anymore, though.

  • Whoo go asian~

  • I hope you realize he is neither a master (only by the USCF's low standards) and he no longer plays chess.

Also his rating was earned through matches so manipulation could have been very easy.

  • Gosh, what an annoying guy. I don't know his name, but it drove me nuts when he kept asking the poor kid about whether he had a girlfriend or if he wanted one. Cmon, dude, he's ten years old! Stop embarrassing him on TV...

  • I actually played this person quite a lot of years back (and lost)

never would've known that he would be that good in chess

  • Fucking silly questions.. Bloody americans.

  • @rodgu hey dont judge me on what they said

  • @rodgu u british?

  • They need to forget about Bobby Fischer who is the next person to take the lead

  • incredible! i love how little shy kids kick the ass of surprised adults

  • Is an actual ''Grand master'' or is he just good at chess?

  • this guy is super good!!!!!!!

  • @klado1990 Nicholas is part of the United States Chess Federation which is an official organization for chess players and he is a 'master' according to ratings and that pretty good. How about know your stuff before you comment so you don't sound like an idiot?

  • Comment removed

  • @nanuka711 Thats hella stupid, I know the guy (don't go to his school but I teach him) and Nicholas is really nice and social. He isn't the best at everything or snobby because he plays chess. I think you need to get a life.

  • Comment removed

  • the cool thing is that he goes to my school =DDDDDDD

  • u also have to take the account...tat interviewers kept on talking none stop....i cant play in this environment...lol

  • hi

  • @bastymanguy ur an idiot.. nip is an asian last name.. ur whole statement is retarded

  • I like these things, but the tabloid format of this is horrible.

  • Absolutely Amazing .

  • Hate to tell you guys this, but Nip quit playing in tournaments very shortly after this video was made...he has been inactive for the past couple of years.

Back in the day, I played in some of the same expert section tournaments as he did though, and got to see his games. He had a pretty interesting, solid style, waiting for the opponent to make an error before taking advantage. Shame he gave it up, but that's how it goes sometimes.

  • @GracieKiller Your an idiot...databases still show him playing

  • @sodayodadude1

    What are you talking about? According to both the USCF and FIDE, he has not played a rated game since he made master back in 2008. According to databases, his last game was in 2008, too;

    365chess.com/players/Nicholas_Nip

Next time, try learning the basic facts before replying and looking like a fucking moron.

  • @GracieKiller Dont get your vagina in a twist!

  • @sodayodadude1

Awesome. You say some stupid shit, get proven wrong, and then respond with a lame, 3rd grade insult. You say you're 33 years old, so I hope the security at the local nuthouse knows you're posting stupid shit on Youtube all day.

  • @GracieKiller I got my info from an unreliable source, chessgames DOES say he ended in 2008, which is too bad. They don't know either, i hope they won't

  • @GracieKiller lol...youtube so much fun for arguing,isnt it?

  • nice.:)

  • the child of prophecy

  • 8:07 cameraman fail

  • good job nip!

  • I like how the bimbo doesn't know what she is talking about.

  • you don't have to be smart to play chess. The rules are fairly simple. You just have to be smart to be good at it.

  • moronic commentators

  • @alexxws

They're entertainers. That's their show. They can host it how they want.

  • chess is waste of life! if you think i must be bad player that's why i say that think again i'm saying it coz its more of a ego game then it is actual fun to play game chess players are mean insultive low life bunch and they turned me into one of them lol quit while you can:D

  • @nanuka711 I love chess and play it all the time I don't have fun playing it because of any ego boost's it's just a fun game

  • @nanuka711 This is true for alot of competitive sports, you find top players don't have very good social skills. I don't think I'd want the life of a top player, in any type of game/sport , and I think people have got it all wrong to begin with, it's really not about winning at all cost despite everything it's about what you get from the game, what it does for you.

  • @RedDragonJack your right friend.

  • interesting video

  • wow!

  • GOES TO MY SKOOL!

  • wow these are the shittest hosts i have ever seen on american television, that blond doesnt know what time of day it is.

  • @5000jews Thats Regis and Kelly... their very popular. Not just in America

  • I wish I learned chess at a really young age, the younger you are when you learn something, the more natural it will be to you..

  • @numbcore very true.... ALL the top elite players and GMs started at ages around 4 or 5.

  • Asians are usually good at chess. I mean that in a good way.

  • @xKOOMIKEx there's never been an Asian world champion.

  • @Dirtfire Does India not count as Asia?

  • @Dirtfire well, yeah, and the Mideast and Russia as well. As most people do when they say "Asia", I meant East-Asia. I suppose I should've been more specific.

  • it a show... i mean c'mon, do u realise how easy it is to fake things like this -.-

  • Bobby Fischer was in his age... Rest in peace

  • 6:23

  • 6:23

  • WOW HIS SO GUUUUUUUUDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow

  • the kid is krzy good, ill never be that good, ill stick to being the 3rd best player in my school!!!

  • Wow the hosts of the show are annoying!

  • @lewiszim Regis is not so bad. But Kelly with her, "it makes you feel so smart!" every twenty seconds? Naw...the average person feels that way every time she opens her mouth.

  • He is the Next Grandmaster of Chess. I'm guessing in two months :)

  • wouldnt it be so funny if that kid forgot his stratergies

  • That Armed Forces guy is hot.

  • LOL> THE camera man walked into the scene the last ten seconds. great game!

  • regis + kelly suck

  • Congratulations to the young 'master' his parents and country will be proud of him.

For interests sake there are 208,089,907,200 possible chess positions. Please just take a moment to contemplate such a massive figure.

As for the typical mouthy 'plastic' people who interviewed him.... are these suppose to be professionals??

Thank you for the 'clip' I will also search Samuel Sevian.

  • uh no. there aren't 208,089,907,200 possible chess positions, that's like the first 3 moves or something. There is calculated to be about 10^127 chess positions in like 40 moves. That's 10 with 127 0's after it. Just so you know. That's more than the amount of atoms in the known universe.

  • @STJukes Actually that's more than the amount of quarks in the universe.

  • That was so bad....

How they went nuts on him with questions, poor kid :P

  • I didn't enjoy them grilling him on whether he had a girlfriend. I just didn't enjoy that bit.

  • y a asain boy

  • youngest "master" ever what the hell does that mean? an IM? or a Fide Master? what is a "master" in chess?

  • @Minkki82 young chess masters are usually fide masters.

  • 8 minutes of my life, I don't want to take back. Take THAT Adults. He is the next supreme leader of the Kids Next Door.

  • @furyberserk yup and he's my third grade classmate and friend im serious

  • @asdw152 y do people on the internet lie

  • Wow.. the hosts sound like a bunch of morons!

  • hha yeah , its guy, fuckin pedophile

  • For sure. This is really fucking embarassing and culturally offensive.

  • p-d4 is english

  • @websearch333

    1. c4 is the english opening

  • he will be the next Gm M.Carlsen

  • He hasnt played in like 1 year. His pretty much quit chess

  • wow a kid ^^

  • In some games he played 1.e4. That's not English, moron.

  • amazing!

  • He is a slave to english then!

  • I can beat hem

  • Garry Kasparov can give the kid a simul.

I like to play him. If he is a master then his rating is 2200. Low rated GM give simul to 2200 reguraly.

  • his record is broke

  • they suck at chess

  • I like this video. This kid would kill me at chess but, I hope see his name as World Champ.

  • Man this guy must be real smart.

  • autistics

And to mndeg, I challange you to a chess-duel for your inappropriate behaviour! Urgh!

  • I'm sure you can! :)

My name is Thymo on Chess, com

  • if you really want but it has been years since i played chess seriously.

  • i sended you a friend request on that site

  • Check out a kid called Samuel Sevian Pure american and probebly the next youngest NM. He was the youngest in the history of chess to achive an expert rating

  • korean?

  • fake

  • my rating is over 9000

  • It´s impossible

  • @kelloggcerealxoxo wow is your name Rybka 8??

  • proooo

  • i could beat him

  • wow that didnt sound gay at all... Fag

  • WABC-TV

  • Wow...tht is cool.

  • Not bad Not bad

  • Nip is the man.

  • i dun even know how to play chess

  • What a beast!

  • Nicholas Nip, I am a true fan of yours. Nicholas Nip = Awesome.

  • Started playing since 5? Almost been playing 4 years to become a master... O.O ...... wow.

  • check out Samuel Sevian his 10 times wat this kid was. 2123 rating just turned 9 and his the strongest 9 and under player in the world

  • Good job, Nicky :)

  • Man sorry that i have to tell you that in this case he doesn't use this technique.I know what you are talking about but in that technique players play with each other (except one) that means that when there are for instance 7 players 3 of them play with another 3 and only 1 plays with the master. But that means that if one of the 6 loses, then one of the remaining must win.

In this case there were 9 wins and 1 draw. That means that he didn't use the system.

  • This isn't a darren brown trick -_-

He is white all the time and makes the first move on each board. The only way to do what you are suggesting is if he was black on half and white on half. Obviously you cannot think critically.

  • Yes, clearly I cannot think critically.

  • I'm glad we both agree :)

  • lol, i would've cheat.

  • you mean knock off a knight or bishop just for the hell of it?

  • He is good but not here in the Asia.

  • He is good But most of the good gamers are from Asia Especially Philippines^^

  • Stupid bimbo

  • my dad is a chess master with a ranking of 2412 mine is 1983 and damn he hasn't lost since 2002

  • im 1536 :P

  • theres ranking in chess?

  • I´m 2600.

  • B/S

  • go Nicholas! I go to school with this kid, can u believe he is even great at Basketball. I kind of ignore him, he's a shy kid. Oh well... go Nicholas we are proud of you!!!

  • they wana beat the asians in chess game ?lol they invented the chess game in indian persians . asians !!

  • Asians (Chinese, Japanese, Koreans) play XiangQi. When you see a bunch of Old timers huddled around a Park bench in Chinatown, you probably have a XiangQi game going on.

  • Rigged

  • omg... he is very good....i want to play with him.... lolzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • I loved her comment

"maybe they can teach us how to play, and then we will be good"

If only it were as easy as learning the game, the strategy, the tactics, and then we become good chess players. Mmmhh.... it does not work that way.

  • If your child is as bright as Nicholas I teach chess. If your interested in lessons, feel free to send me a message. Ages 5 to 14 are opitimal. I am a USCF Master and the 1981 CT State Champion.

  • I started playing chess in grade 4 and won every championship regionally and provincially.. after the publicity in the papers I recieved a call from a grandmaster in Canada and being that I was 12 my dad supervised the visit and it was a draw.. I was nervous.. had it in my head that this 50+ year old would beat me before I played him. .. stupid.

  • uhhh. yeah uhhh. yeah. uhhh sometimes. uhh yea. uh yea. yeah. yes. no

  • He went to the same school as meeeeee, he still goes there tooo!

  • Draw mean nobady won.

  • obviously he's chinese its natural to them

  • not chinese i think, his last name is Nip....

  • Cantonese, so yeah, Chinese.

  • It means that noone won and noone lost, dumbass!

  • hardly a dumbass

  • let me correct you here. Bobby Fischer earned his Grandmaster title at the age of 15. so this kid they're talking about does not have a GM title yet. so he did not beat Bobby Fischer's record. perhaps he has some other title such as IM or FM but not the GM title. its a huge difference. the youngest Grandmaster right now and the record keeper is Sergey Karjakin from Russia who earned the GM title at the age of 12.

  • my god ur a gimp

  • According to WIkipedia, he is the youngest USCF master (National Master, that is) in history, achieved at 9 years, 11 months, with a rating of 2207. I don't know if anybody in any other country has attained a similar score at that age, but I would be very surprised if it were the case.

  • And it turns out this does break Bobby Fischer's personal record for becoming a National Master. Fischer became a master at 13 years, 4 months, while Nip became an master at 9 years, 11 months, so he didn't beat him by quite four years, but more than three and a half, anyways. I don't know how many other (if any) chess players have broken Fischer's record for becoming a master.
