I only listen to NPR nowadays. Not interested in any of the radio stations that hammer you with obnoxious ads. Internet radio is so much better.
I like NPR because it has a lot of STORIES about many topics as opposed of 2 idiots pranking people on the phone.
Record companies are trying to get more money from the broadcasters and are still trying to screw bands. Because of this bands now get away from big record companies. Its about time they change their models.
The problem I've experienced is while , enjoying the performance of the artist. I am then inundated with " Internet ads" forcing me to consume some other product(s).I find , takes away the "added value" of the artist. Certainly , a very complicated issue. Thankh you for the dialog video.
What's wrong with paying the artists directly? Terrestrial radio is too clogged with advertising as it is. That is what is killing it. Terrestrial should provide local info, commentary, and originally produced stories or fictional pieces (like in the beginnings of radio) radio dramas.
I really think radio should only serve as an advertisement bilbord of sorts. The artists should pay a certain amount for "air time" on their station. They are getting exposure after all. There could also be a system in-place for those artists that earn more, but this could be making things more complex, but fair-er if you will. it would cut down on ads too, since, in a scene, the songs are ads for albums. but air time could always be partitioned on that issue.
