there was a reference to the deragatory use of the term "black" and the so called almighty use of white in the Spike Lee movie "Malcolm X" and Im so glad that King called it out on this sermon. Spike Lee's Malcolm X starring Denzel Washington is my favorite movie of all time.
Beautiful, and pure and light and everything heavenly on Earth. What are we teaching our children, when we use the word "black" to describe something dark, scary, lonely, alone and cold. When we use the word "black" to describe mud and the terrifying unknown and the OPPOSITE of white, WHAT are we teaching our children? We need to look at this, the politic of language. What a word means and why, and we need to STOP doing it. We need to change language.
