  • Cheapshot with the elbow.... I think not!!! Yes the elbow was up but you don't see any swinging motion. To me it looks like a shoulder shot but because the elbow is up everyone says he did it intentionally.

  • I could care less about his plus minus rating. He's still playing like he's playing in Junior.. a boy among men. His risks usually end up fucking his team over... and his and Ovie's "great plus/minus" rankings did squat when it really counted. Another disappointing year in Washington. I'm glad he didn't throw on the country's colors..

  • Roxstar hes +21 in minus/plus totals lol just look at his stats it says it all

  • Canada is not losing out on Mike Green on the Olympic Roster... lmfao. That's a laugh... Mike Green is an unstable defenseman. I'd hate having him back there if I was the Caps Tender.

  • @Roxtarr He is one of the best offensive d in the game, why the hell would you make a statement like that.

  • That's true with the elbow shoulder thing but both were dirty hits to the head and I think that the booth hit was worse like richards intentionally drove his shoulder into booths head and booth was knocked out before he hit the ice

  • Its already been announced green got a 3 game suspension but it doesn't even matter cause he hurt his knee later in the game when kulikov leveled him

  • i hate weak pussies who can only hit people with cheapshots

  • I like green and even though frolik went through the middle doesn't mean green can elbow him it deserved a suspension but what I don't understand is how they can suspend this but don't suspend richards for his hit on booth...his hit was worse than this one

  • Richard's hit was with his shoulder and this was with his elbow.. big difference. The only reasons the other hit looked so bad was because Booth landed on his hand and got hurt badly - if Frolik had been injured then this would look way worse than it does now.

  • @Psex94 Richards used all shoulder in his. This is a blatant elbow.

  • Elbowing - Elbowing shall mean the use of an extended elbow in a

manner that may or may not cause injury.

Are you trying to claim that the elbow wasn't extended? Or are you just stupid and trying to argue despite not knowing the rules of NHL hockey?

  • That was a nice setup for a hip check. Nice and clean....

    I agree JimmyG228

  • i agree jaycc9.

anyone who wouldnt agree with you should put some skates on and have someone elbow them on the ice like that.

i'm a fan of Green, he is 1 of the best D men out there but what he did is just wrong and cant be allowed.

  • There was no need to lift his elbow to deliver the hit. A clean hit would have rocked Frolik good anyways. Suspension deserved.

  • Laich and Knuble agree with me that you are just a wannabe knuckledragging neanderthal.

You obviously don't know SHIT about the game or the rules.

BTW...I wouldn't admit to being a bandwagon Caps fan either.

  • How about Mike Knuble?: "He got him in the head. [The league] is trying to send a message, especially in the wake of that Quebec league thing. It's protecting the players. I'm sorry it happened to Mike. But guys know, an elbow to someone's head is going to cost you one way or another."

But I guess Knuble and Laich are just cunts right?

Dumbass, you are so FULL OF FAIL it is ridiculous. I think your crackhead mother only had braindamaged kids. Or maybe someone elbowed your fucking face?

  • You should have let this one go before making such a homo of yourself.

If I'm a dolt for saying it, then what about Green's teammates?:

    1) Brooks Laich, the team's NHLPA rep:

"At some point you have to make a statement where there's not a gray area. You can't hit to the head. It's black or white. You hit to the head you're going to get suspended."

  • Hasnt there already been enough of this fucking shit yet this year? I'm so damn sick of wanting to throw up after watching these videos.

  • this is why my coaches always say, keep your head up!

  • @guitarbutt

The back of his upper arm? Give me a break. You can't lead into a check with an elbow. You just can't. If you understood the rules of hockey you wouldn't be arguing this point. You are arguing against NHL rules. Maybe you should look them up.

And what makes you think I think hockey is too violent? I'm just against cheap shots.

Answer me this, do you even play hockey?

  • wtf is wrong with that hit. its totally legal

  • @BlackberryBrady3 please tell me you are kidding? that was a huge elbow... no question about it

  • @lukelonko4 he shoulda just kept his head up

  • @BlackberryBrady3 Yes it is a fault on Froliks for having his head down, but the elbow went up and made contact in a huge way. It does not matter that his head was down or not either way that was a huge elbow

  • @lukelonko4 then you cant 100% blame mike green

  • @guitarbutt

Have you ever played hockey before? Just because he had his head down doesn't make it alright to throw a dirty elbow you moron.

Sure you can get a nice clean shoulder in there but that elbow was dirty, and you know it was. You must not know much about hockey and rules if you think leading at someones face with your elbow is legal.

Otherwise you are just a fucking moron.

  • Exactly PaleWhiteBoy......a nice LEGAL body check would have been sufficient, but Green cheap-shotted him with the elbow to the head.

  • You nailed it PWB....guitarbutt's just a fucking loser moron that wouldn't know what to do on a sheet of ice.

  • totally legal

  • Did your mother have any children that lived?

No elbowing motion? What the FUCK do you call leading into the guy's face with your elbow sticking out douchenozzle?

BTW...you're the dicktoucher that said: "I hope Colin Campbell and Gary Bettman get killed this evening". Why bring them into it at all if you don't care asswipe?

A headshot is a headshot and you get suspened for them...learn the fuckin rules!

  • Because you sound like a huge-ass HOMER when you say you think that no suspension to your BF was in order. DA?

BTW....Colin Campbell wasn't involved in the decision to suspend him due to a conflict of interest (his Son plays on Frolik's team) and Bettman doesn't get involved in disciplinary actions.

  • Green should have got 10 games for this. He got hit earlier in the shift so this was premeditated. I guess his real punishment was when he went out with injury. This should shut this yappy chihuahua up for a while

  • They should just shut down the league because the only people who care about this sport are canadiens and norddderners

  • @guitarbutt

...and if that was Ovechkin getting elbowed in the face, you'd be fine with it...right?

  • Wow, they suspended him for that ? How about keep your head up and don't be crouched down when you come into another player. Greens elbow was hardly reased and he didn't follow through with it. LAME NHL!

  • That wasn't Mike Green, and you bandwagon jumpers know it, it was Patrice Cormier!

Cmon, you know you all wanna blame Cormier for that one too!

  • A season suspension is too steep. The three game suspension is a good call. He was also fined $81,000. Players are suspended on penalties like this to deter other players from doing it again. This is not a typical incident by Mike Green, and I wouldn't obsess over it. What two weeks ago Green took a cross check to the throat. The occasional bad incident happens in hockey and the overall outcome was the guy didn't get hurt. This is no McSorely or Bertuzzi incident.

  • brutal hit. so glad he got suspended

  • 3 games is fair. Nothing clean about leading with the elbow sticking out like that. If Brashear, Avery or Downie made that hit the suspension would be double digits.

  • You watch, the NHL is gonna start taking harder actions against dirty hits like this

This is fair. 3 games is enough

  • Well, Pronger, a repeat offender, only got 1 game, TWICE, in the 07 playoffs for elbowing mcammond and holmstrom.

  • 3 games seems excessive. A fine and a 1 game suspension would have been appropriate, since he has no prior history of any dirty hits or headhunting.

My issue is that there seems to be a clear bias or lack of consistency by the NHL, Gonchar's flying elbow 3 weeks ago, which blindsided clutterbuck gets him a 5 minute major, but later no fine or suspension by the NHL? c'mon.

maybe they're just paranoid because of the comier elbow not too long ago

  • cant believe he got suspended he got nailed earlier

  • when he got hit, it was clean!

  • you dont get to comment when your fucking name is mikegreenisthebest.

  • he got hit cleanly, his hit was cheap. i lost all respect for this douche bag. theres a reason this faggot didnt make team canada

  • beauty elbow. dumb move though. he could have easily still cleaned his clock with a clean hit.

  • The difference is that Green did not absolutely clean Frolik's clock with that hit. Yes it was an elbow, but he did not take half a dozen strides and lay straight into his head from the blindside. It just wasn't that vicious. Considering the 1 and 2 games thrown around for obvious intent to injure major penalties, this seems excessive. Consistency is the issue here. May be a blessing in disguise though to force him to take 3 off rather than jump back in injured to help the streak,

  • 3 games is fair for first offence. better than not getting suspended at all cuz you're a star.

  • 3 games? Well that's about fair. He shouldn't have gotten more though. First offense.

  • 4 games

  • or 5 woulda been good

  • the hit was almost clean... but he got his elbow up so early that it makes his hit look like a cheap shot... keeping his elbow down would have allow him to knock frolik down with his shoulder...an elbow to the chest is legal

  • even as a caps fan, i agree with 3 games, it was vicious.

one thing however i do not agree with is how this one got 3, and Richards' hit on Booth got nothing..

problem with consistency if you ask me..

  • clean check

  • Yeah - so his fucking arm was up in the air, and dickweed's head was below Green's shoulder - not like he lifted it to hit him. Of course Malkin and Richards get away with that shit all the time.

  • this is bullshit, Clutterbuck got a a flying elbow from Gonchar and the NHL didn't even consider suspension. Green backs into someone with an elbow (a 2 min penalty) and its a 4 game suspension?

  • the nhl is a f!@#$ joke when it comes to suspend popular players... bet that brashear would have had 25 games for that hit. this is a dagerous hit. same as patrice cormier on tam... cheap as hell. i think it was clear that he tried to hurt the guy.should have had at least 12 games.. or maybe more. green is a non good defence player anyway.

  • He got 3 games for this. Probably should have been more.

  • omg u ignorant fucks its an elbow to the head. we all know that crosby would've been high fived by gary bettman if he did this.

  • Buttman would have gobble his knob too. Crosby sucks!!

  • The guy had his head down - dickwads.

  • @walt6812

    no he dont..

  • damn what the hell is wrong ? PLAY CLEAN hockey

  • Green is obviously reeling from being left off the Canadian Olympic Roster. What a nasty elbow to leave out there. The reason Green isn't on the team is because he gets caught pinching way too much. He's too goal hungry for a defenseman. I like watching him play, but if I was a Caps fan I'd be unhappy about the amount of scoring chances given to opponents b/c of Green's selfishness. He can score goals, but he certainly has a tough time at the other end of the ice for a "D-Man"

  • Canada losses buy not having Green on the roster. Mike Green is +22 with 52 points, he is fast, physical, great with the puck and a great skater. He is the future. The Canadian pride Niedermayer get owned by Ovi the other day and that is what will happen the entire Olympics to Niedermayer because he is past his prime, he is too slow. Instead of going younger with so much dept in D they go with the old and slow.Good luck to Canada stopping Russia or Sweden in the Olympics with Niedermayer

  • Sorry, have to disagree here...Niedermayer has to be on, regardless of how he plays. Short tournament needs quick leadership, and nobody else could do it they way Scotty does.

But yes, I would love to see Mike Green in. I guess the partner of Seabrook and Keith is what kept him out, btw those guys, plus Doughty, Weber, are not even close to old and slow. Pronger's call in my opinion is quite a questionable one, but with so much talent, you can never go wrong with Team Canada

  • @hmsrenown i have to agree with u on that one but i question y they cut st.louis and lecavlier to me i think that they should of definitely picked lecavlier or St.louis instead of pronger

  • 13 forwards and 7 d-men makes sense to me in this kind of tournament. Especially when no taxi squad is included for this year's Olympics. Tampa Bay forwards unfortunately underwhelmed this year, Stamkos got cold after a hot start, Lecavalier had a down year, And Mike Richards beat out St. Louis and John Taveras and a slew of other capable candidates for the 13th forward spot. So...here we are

  • yes but we will see how it goes soon
