I'm cambodian but i'm still conufsed about a certain section of the story. did kongrei die because of fatigue from chasing her husband cause i heard something like she isn't a full yak so she can't transform all huge and stuff, so she had to run on her own two feet after her husband. what exactly happened? @~@
no she died is not because she chasin after her husband, is she jumped of the cliff the dat her husband created when he threw the magic fruits. she decided to take her own life because she cant face the people back at the palace. man, i wish dis dude would up load da part when she sing and jumped off da cliff... i actually watch the whole movie back in da 90's but i was too damn small to remember..!

Sure the Siamese borrow alot of Khmer stories and legends (they literally adoped everything from us) and dont give us credit. But natesterx is most likely right. Did you know Kakey was orginally a Javanese tale. We as Khmers borrow from other cultures too. It's just the Siamese became arrogant to us. Sort of a rebellious child to her mother. But Puthisen Kong Rey is definately a Khmer tale.
As for "Kaev Na Ma" I'm talkin bout the girl who's like a horse (physical appearance and she neighs) but turns in to a pretty girl afterwards. So that's thai?

I am so confused, like it said they are characters from Khmer legends, but why does the thais have a version of these characters too? Are you Khmer or not? Anyway this is a Khmer legend, the Thais copied it. There's even a mountain named Phnom Kong Rey (Kong Rey Mountain) in Cambodia. Legend says she died and became a mountain. Ask your parents they should know.

Actually they don't shared any same ancient characters/people as us. Everything that Thai have is a copied from Khmer. They are another second version of Khmer but the lower status. We are the original origin. Notice when they talk, there are some Khmer words and similarity they say. Like for ex:Soniya which stand for promise. They lack only one thing in their writing system is not having the leg conjunction. We have everything in our writing system. The alphabets, vowels, and leg conjunction.

Mostly people who say that just a bunch of lies or they are bunch of uneducated people who didn't research their facts right. Thais' ppl lies about they are the original origin b/c they want the world to believe them and also to makes Khmer ppl look bad. One thing I do admit, we copy the modern Thai music from them. At least, we don't lie. We keep our fact straight. We don't need to be like them lying and deceiving other, saying they were the first.
