  • bollocks they didnt give a shit about ian the way he sprawlled helpless on the floor, while they carried on and took the piss, and yes new order have admitted they could and should have helped him more

  • @2222481 Were you there? If not, STFU.

  • shameful

  • @wllm500 Go away!

  • @WhitstableWilliams .. you are obviously too young to know that New Order vowed back in the day never to do Joy Division songs. Thus shameful on their part to try to make a buck off of Ian.

  • @PrimerPodcast I am, but bands are always saying/doing things like that! I wouldn't begrudge NO a living.

  • @PrimerPodcast yes thats right ooh we changed our name cos its too painful, and wot a fucking din!ian will be turning in his grave cos this racket could wake the dead wot an insult

  • shamefull

  • Brilliant and powerful version ... A glimpse of the power that was Joy Division.

  • I wish Phil Cunningham was somewhere else!

  • I get along best with people who love both bands.

  • Ian Curtis

    forever,

    in the hearts,

    of the young men.

  • RIP John Peel - you did a lot for progressing music over the air waves.

RIP Ian - thanks. You made my teenage years a time to remember.

  • wow ...like Joy

  • @industrialnyleon where you at babe like happy happy joy joy dividertion

  • @crania2013 in hell babe

  • BS really rocks this one! Maybe Bad Lieutenant should consider re-recording this track.

  • For a song that I thought sounded bland when Ian Curtis sang it (hits self), this is... amazing. So alive, so raw and... wow. And kudos on the camera work

  • Bland ???

Ian may have had his faults, but bland was definately NOT one of them!

  • I did hit myself ;)

And by bland I meant it sounded less.... raw than most other JD songs. idk if it was the right word to use come to think of that....

  • 31G, 31G, 31G.....

  • fuck, this is so good.

  • fuck, i envie all these people in the front. Wish i was there........

  • I KNOW! Who'd ever thought that ppl would be moshing at a New Order show?!?!?! They fuckin' ROCK when they do JD!!! If Ian and JD were still around, their pits would be deadly with Warsaw era tracks! Btw NO, let's get Gillian back please, I've always loved NO's female element!

  • Wow, Barney's voice never sounded more raw when doing a Joy Division cover. His voice fits this song quite well compared to some of the others.

  • Definitely. I've always thought the Warsaw-era material was the best, so I am a bit biased, but I think that Bernard really does well with shorter, more percussive vocals than with long, held-out words.

  • Why is that New Order sound the best live when they play Joy Division songs? ; p

  • Yes, I love New Order in general; but when they play old songs like this one, it's so raw and pure that I want more.

  • YA thats a good point

  • @robotorb maybe cause they were originally joy division, lol...

  • @robotorb they dont it sounds bloody awful

  • Thank you very much for posting this. Absolutely amazing to hear them do this tune from 1978! What a racket with the two gats! Wonderful.

  • to have been there to see this live

  • Love these boys (more than i thought)!

  • I love it.

    :)

  • Oh man, this is awesome.

  • Isn't it! gives me the chills every time the drums start up.

  • yess barneys vocals are very suited to this even though no one will be better than ian

  • It's messed up, but I actually think Barney's vocals suit this song better than most of their live Joy Division covers.

  • Amazing video! It just shows that New Order still care for Ian! It must have been good seeing them live!

  • Ian Curtis wrote many of these songs and when he sang them it added meaning to what he wanted to say. But New Order is okay even if its their song it sounds better with Ian singin it.

NEW ORDER + Ian Curtis = Joy Division

  • I have mp3's of 4 of these songs

  • fucking amazing

  • Amen to that.

  • Thanks for posting this, I never thought that I'd see New Order play this one live. Excellent.

  • stand up Stephen Morris..

  • or wasn't it "ya all forgot about Ruldolf Hess?"

that bouncer in this vid earned his wages!

  • Dont forget that Joy Division announced this song with "Dont forget who Rudolf Hess is" ... 31G

  • That was 'at a later date' live at the electric circus

  • this is the best cover aof a joy didvison song by new order ever. Ian was best but this was great as well..

    Vote Ron Paul

  • "350125" and "31G" ... These numbers refer to Rudolf Hess's prisoner of war number 31G 350125. Around the time this song was written there was increasing public interest in how and why Hess had been kept in more or less solitary confinement at Spandau prison for several decades.

  • 3-1-G, you know what I mean

  • 3.1.G

  • full of energy...i love it

  • a side of new order i have never seen. pretty darn good! thanks for posting.

  • Never thought this was one of JD's best but New Order have brought it back to life!

  • the Warsaw(1978) recordings are one of my all time fav cds

  • wow good quality. usually live clips on youtube aren't glad to see you know how to actually hold a camera still

  • Camera phones mean that we will never miss another classic moment on stage, ever, again.

  • Awesome. NO actually plays this song pretty good live.

  • Would you expect anyone else to actually play it better? Afterall, they did write the damn thing!

  • It's a good performance but it absolutely PALES in comparison to the performance they gave at the Warehouse in Preston in March 1980. It's available on CD.
