I'm not gonna lie, I like this version of the tank a bit better than the one you had before. It looks really natural, and the Jungle Val really give such a nice backdrop to the Neons...

@baboon500 i ran co2. i loaded it up pretty good to start. probably 6 months if you did it right, cut it, co2 waterchangs ect

I have buyed over hundreds of plants in hundreds of citys from seattle to orlando and jungle val is the best! I have a 75 gallon and I bought it around 1 foot tall with about 3 stalks for a total of about 10 leafs. A month later it grew 3 feet up all the way to the top, then curved 5 feet sidways and went backdown at the opposite side. In a month!!!

How did you keep the tank clean with dirt and goldfish? Did you gravel vac?

@eurasianchica Dont really gravel vac, just let it go...deep gravel bed so goldfish couldn't get into the dirt

Hey man, how exactly did you set up this tank? Its awesome! Like what proportions of soil and gravel did you use etc? Also, have you had any ammonia spikes?

I tried using regular dirt but its a pain when you gravel clean, Do you gravel clean or not bother because of the mess?

@igobyjoey You must be new...thats a dirt tank... (all of mine are, dirt under black gravel.... Heavy bio load with goldfish prior to neons.

Thanks man, I love the sterbai, they are taking a while to come out though. I got them really cheap at the ACA convention in Cincy last year. I have 12. I can't wait to see them all at once.... I am also about to be moving them to the 90 gallon. Cory cats and neons is a great combo cause the cories are well fed....check out my other video and a blog coming soon...

Q. have you had any success breeding neons or cardinals-mine seem to show spawning behaviour all the time but i never see eggs or fry,

I know that neon tetra's respond to pressure changes. A guy once told me to seal up the tank and pump air into it. (makes sense) Talk to me-I'm down for breeding them...gotta have a tank with lots of moss and nothing else to start would be my guess...
