  • Where's the next tutorial?

  • How do you open shell

  • Comment removed

  • So when I try to run the program is shows the whole terminated line that you have, but it's not showing the Hello World! thing, I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I followed you step by step. Shot in the dark, but does anyone know why it's doing this?

  • So, what's the point of comments if they're ignored?

  • @ExrisafMC - To make it easier to identify different parts of your code. You could add a massive, complicated bit of code and easily forget what it does.

  • @BetaAlphaPi Oh, ok. So it's like a note to self.

  • Thanks for making this video. The first thing I always like to know how to do with a language is how to write a "Hello World!" program. Thanks a bunch.

  • Hey everyone check out my java tutorials. Ive made a few so far and plan to make more :)

  • Wow, a programmer who actually speaks proper English!!!

  • Need more tuts :D

  • curtis? from valencia? xD

  • 'i use linux, but it doesn't matter, you can use whatever you like'

i also use linux, and you, sir, get a huge thumbs up for the attitude. i wish there were more like you.

  • @bamdadkhan agreed.

I hate it when people are biased towards an OS. I have a win7/ubuntu dual boot and a mac mini, and I equally like all three.

  • @tomalotube i don't think being biased is a problem. e.g. i like both os x and linux a lot better than windows. but that's just me. the problem starts when you start trying to evangelise everyone around you.

  • Linux, BOOOOO!

    Mac, WOOOOO!

    PC, FREEEEEZ!

  • Im a little new to this, where did you find Shell?

  • @SGTFLEXXX

Hey, this guys on a Linux computer remember! if you are too.. go on google and type in "find shell" or something.. Macs = Terminal, PC = CMD

  • @Scribbletechelp ok, thanks :)

  • Thank you so much! I finally got how to make the class right!

    - Eclipse tells me what to do, but not how to do it.

  • Great video, Curtis! My goodness, I finally know how to use Eclipse!

  • Must find OnTheSpotComedy's Comment!

  • i like you humor,

    and a nice tutorial

  • 'Future Tutorials'...

  • i can't get the "out" in System.out.println to turn blue D=

  • its a shame there is only one :(

  • i am 14 learning how to program. i am very serious about java scripting. watching these videos are really helping me understand the language. and i have been learning it seems very hard at 1st but the more u understand it and practice it gets VERY easier.

  • @kidharris55 I'm glad for you and I hope you become a great programmer but you should probably go back and learn some grammar as well.

  • @iamawombat101 This is the internet, leave the kid alone.

  • What about writing java in visual studio?

  • I have an error that says 'Editor does not contain a main type', can anyone help?

  • nice video.

    very good.

  • Who Dislike This video it mean He can't understand.

    and his mind is sucks

  • OK so i need to make a program that lets me input student marks and lets me know who has the highest mark and the lowest and the avg of the class so far I have an array a for loop what else do i need? It only lets me input the names and marks help is appreciated thanks

  • @Baussnigga Surely it's much easier to use MS excel? You could just imput the marks and have a formula that works out the average, highest and lowest.

  • Great job. You should get a lot of money for your method of informing.

  • Help I'm having an error saying "The method printIn(String) is undefined for the type PrintStream"

  • @the747videoer The line should read:

    System.out.println("Hello World");

  • The import java.util.scanner cannot be resolved...someone please tell me what this means. I cant run my program.

  • use textpad its fucking notepad in a batmobile

  • Nice Vid - I haven't done ANY Java in 6 years and have barely looked at Eclipse in just as long - was nice and handy to get started on refreshing my memory. Next step a middle application :)

  • It's clearly written 'Helloworld' tutorial, so what else did you expect? At least this guy put some effort to show the basics for someone to head start. Although, I agree that this video could have been made in 2-3 minutes rather than long 9 minutes!

  • download.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/

Start here, anybody wanting to learn Java.

  • You wasted A LOT of time in this.

  • You can use whatever you like. Oh, you can use whatever you like.

  • Thanks man

  • Seriously go on piratebay download ebooks about java completely free and its more informal than this shit

  • Hey does anyone know if beginning programming with java for dummies 2nd edition is still up to date enough to learn java or if its obsolete?

  • eclipse or netbeans... that is the question.

  • when i click the "run" button it does not give me the option to run as java aplication. I only see "ant debugger" ._.

  • lawl linux

  • im going to college this monday... i choose IT as my course because some say that it is easy...is it easy enough?

  • @sparkleboy1234 i do Compter science and IT, maybe not exactly the same thing, i little more advanced but i wouldnt say IT is easy, if you like your problem solving, reasoning and a little math then you will enjoy it....

  • @sparkleboy1234 It all depends on your brain. If you have a logical mind no problem, if not you have a problem.

  • It doesn't need to be this long of a tutorial.

  • what is best of java or c++?

  • Extremely good tutorial. It would be good if you make some more vids if your not to busy. Keep up the good work.

  • Great tutorial, thank you!

  • we have the same first name how cool!

  • Comment removed

  • @Xylogeist Have fun, probably got another 2 years to go.

  • @RedofYellow What do you mean?

  • @Xylogeist don't worry

  • it tells me tat class isnt used in this language..? At line:1 char:15

    + public <<<< class Hello World!{ + CategoryInfo : ObjectNotFound: (public:String) [], CommandNotFoundExceptio n + FullyQualifiedErrorId : CommandNotFoundException and i keep gettin this eror :/ i cnt fix it....

  • it tells me tat class isnt used in this language..?

  • C++ is much better! - and with C++ and QT you can make amazing GUI applications! - the Google Earth and Maya 2011 along with thousands of ''popular'' apps and programs were made using C++.

  • Hey I like your tutorial! You should make more!

  • Y cant there be a recent video that wasnt made 2+ years ago!?!?!?!

  • you talk like loquendo

  • one of the best java tutorial for beginners. i mean it's very useful for people who want to get started with eclipse ide.

  • you sound like julian assange!

  • Please, please, please make a "You suck at Photoshop", aka "You suck at Java".

  • when I try to run it it says "none applicable"

instead of "run as java file"

    "((

  • does this code work same for intelije?

  • when i click run as java application it comes up saying

'editor does not contain a main type'

    what does this mean??Help!?

  • Thank you so much! I am trying to transition from using textpad to using eclipse and this is just what i needed!

  • Dear sir, I did open the class window - but the finish button is grey I can't click it.

I did precisely what you did in the new class window

    Please reply ASAP

  • @yamenroc do you have another program or shell open because some IDEs wont run a second program when there is one still open?

  • how do you open up a shell?

  • @Inuyashafreak9494 RUN>"CMD" but without the qoutes

  • Thanks for putting this together. I am looking forward to the rest of your tutorials.

  • Thank you very much, you really explain very clear. It's a shame you've not uploaded any more videos. You'd make a great teacher!

  • What wrong with C :(

  • @WEAZLEL

C is a great language too but Java is a more modern coding language and more importantly Java is object oriented...

  • @Limelights1 C++.

  • @privateabstract

What about C++? It's a great language too...But IMO Java is more comfortable to work with...No need to worry about memory concepts or pointers...Also, Java has a cool OOP model...But yes, C++ is a noble language...

  • @Limelights1 Java is too easy. It's like .NET but portable. I like to feel challenged when I'm programming.

  • wow thanks, my teacher's book is incomprehensible

  • i heard the word java so many times, i lost it;s meaning

  • System.out.println("Thanx");

  • i fucking hate java.

  • @MustNotRead It's not Java, it's the fucking gay ass stupid program called eclipse

  • @alexk175 : Despite the program you use, the code is the same.

  • @MrsLuciaMrJim In case you still wonder (it's 1 months since you posted) he's using linux, so a "shell" is equivalent to the windows console windows (cmd). :)

  • wow.. tnx xD

  • thanks a lot.. u really help those people that dont know the java basic. ^^

  • This video is really annoying. Especially after watching "Lecture 1 | Programming Methodology (Stanford) ". I highly suggest watching those videos if you truly want to learn Programming and Java in general. The Instructor Rocks!!

  • May be a bit slow in the process of explanation to some, but to someone who just wants to go at a slow and easy speed, this is a great tutorial.

  • ty becswe sica

  • GAH HOW LONG IS THIS STUPID ECCLISPE GONNA TAKE.

  • Grr eclispe is taking long to load. 30 secs. left.

  • 8:39 minutes for this?????

in 8 minutes you can show how to setup the classpath, for java SE and Java EE , also show simple operation manipulation , and simple while and for loops.

    what a waste

  • 1) java is platform independent (it will on any operating systems without any code change), but C++ is not.

2)C++ is purely object oriented . But java is not ,because it doesn't support multiple inheritance.

    3) java Doesn,t support pointer concept.

    4) java contains more no.of classes .where we can reuse those classes(code reusability)

    5)in C++ we can write a praog"CLASS" WHEREAS

IN JAVA IT IS NOT POSSIBLE

  • Nice Tutorial......hope to see more

  • Very helpful video.

    Thanks for posting.

  • thanks for help. very nice video. hopefully u have a ton more

  • or....you can make a text document, put

    @echo off

color 9 (optional if yer want sexy colour =3 )

    title Hello World

    echo Hello :D :D

    pause

save it a .cmd and there you go....10 second tutorial :[]

  • how to use Java when I try to make private server of some games? Online Games(to make repack) :)

  • what is the difference between c++ and java

  • @sweetand2ne1 Java is a lot more object orientated

  • hey one question, eclipse it's just equal as the notepad? or what have diference?

  • What operating system do you use?

    Is it Backtrack?

  • curtisf14, thanks much, I just understood it, I did! :) Thanks:)

  • Great tutorial! Helps a lot, coz i'm learn it all by myself.

But how can you change a txt file into java file? I tried this in MS notepad, it does nothing i guess : (

  • I'm downloading "Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers" from the Eclipse site. It includes a Java IDE. Hope it's close to what's being demonstrated here. Also hope the package isn't a space hog because I don't have a lot of free hard drive available.

  • "everything in eclipse is a project"

  • please some1 help me !!!

i deleted some java i forgot and now i caant see buttons please help me just tell me what java i need please!!!

  • shame you never did the others, your a really good teacher. :(

  • Lol, I am a C++ programmer, and compared to java C++ RULES!

  • And is more limited

  • How so?

C++ is much more widely used in industrial purposes than java EVER will so GTFO only a noob to programming would say C++ is limited

  • to do this do i need to buy anything? plz reply!

  • Nope, Java is free. Eclipse is free. Even netbeans (another Java IDE) is free, and the java runtime environment is free, so people who use your program can get that easily off the web to run your program, too.
