  • I call it Mountain Top expansion... if you live in SEastern kentucky... everything that you shop on was a mining site!... we have no other fucking jobs here.. coal produces almost all the energy you all are using right now... TAKE AWAY OUR JOBS ..... YOU CAN FUCKING FREEZE TO DEATH HOLDING YOUR LITTLE TREE!!!

  • I worked a mountain top removal strip operation in southern WV for a little more than 11 years. I flew over the location a few years ago and if I didn't know of specific landmarks I would not have known there had been a surface mine there. That's how welll it has been reclaimed. Mountain top removal should continue as long as federal and state mining laws are enforced.

  • If you want to help this cause more you cant just preach to the choir. Go to all the youtube sights and tell viewers to go to i love mountains. That way you reach a broader amount of people.

  • That being said, if any of you believe you know more about this topic than me, and

believe it has no negative aspects, then you are not only ignorant, but uneducated as well, and I will be happy to reiterate what I have already stated in earlier comments on this video.

  • On a side note, look at all the idiots here lol... (that primarily was directed at perryman) but it includes anyone who hasn't actually looked into what their talking about. I am a moderate with both liberal and conservative views, not a hippy or a "tree hugger"... I am currently planning on gaining my masters degree in both engineering and business, and then plan on proceeding to acheive a graduate degree in law. I am well educated, and do not rely on pitiful insults to win an arguement.

  • Im 18 and drive a range rover... bought it with coal money

  • Tree huggers need to go back to their own state...Coal is the back bone of America. W.V and KY have the lowest electricity rates in the U.S.A...Wyoming strips more coal than KY and WV together, go protest them and leave Appalachia alone...Most protesters probably are college students living with mom and dad and don't know what to pay for utilites means. Reclamation shows that forests can be regrown, look at Oregon and WA state where they cut timer year round...

  • I am a friend of Coal. Coal mining and the industries that support the coal mining businesses are a HUGE part of the appalachian Community and economy. The huge over-abundance of coal has created an amazing opportunity of wealth for local citizens and big business alike. With Appalacian Coal, we all win. Let the hippies and Liberals be anti-coal, they are this way because the are too ignorant and agenda-minded to understand the depth at which the coal industry feeds life into our country.

  • @rngrchad ::: yo, mgchad...1) they are not hippies, rather yippies. 2) Realists, irregardless of what you perceive a Liberal to be....it isn't about political labeling and smear...3)anit-coal or anti-disregard for extraction process? 4)IGNORANT? FALSE...i would suggest you look in the mirror. King Coal and Massey keep YOU ignorant. There is a responsible way to evolve and restructure the communities, however MASSEY HIDES IT FROM YOU. COAL INDUSTRY FEEDS LIFE? YES...FEEDING YOU BS AND CANCER.

  • @amytsunamify Everyone bitches about the coal companies getting rich, my son made $ 63,000, and I bought and paid for my home with coal money, I also have a college education...no one complains about crooks on wallstreet getting fat the banks giving out million dollar bonuses, You are the one who is ingnorant and probably never held a job where you put in a hard days work in your life. If WV and KY wants to be level like Nebraska I say take the mountains to the ground if it provides jobs.

  • i thought being a superpower u got the technology to harness nuclear energy like france although there be some issue on safety.

    any one like to comment?

  • And no, I do not use any coal to power anything in my off-the-grid house or my completely off-the grid business, a business that employs over 125 people. So don't bother posting that there are no solutions, because I am living the solution everyday!

  • Based upon the illogical, self-centered, selfish, short-sighted, delusional, ignorant, unethical, unimaginative, misinformed, and deliberately misleading comments posted by those in favor of turning God's mountains into moon surfaces and excusing such acts as "necessary", many coal miners must be gullible to Massey lies or totally uneducated or just evil opportunists who do not give a damn about clean air and water and animal habitats.

  • it's jobs that feed our kids- don't knock it- IT'S BAD ENOUGH DUE TO OSHA WE HAVE LOST MILLIONS OF JOBS TO CHINA-

  • im all for coal, but MTR is stupid. the only people MTR benefits is big coal companies. do you people not realize that if the coal were deep mined it would create MORE coal mining jobs than mining the same coal using MTR? do you people really believe Massey has your best interest in mind? they make more money through MTR, thats why they do it.

  • I want the coal and more jobs so deep mine it and save the mountains while creating 10 times more jobs!

  • @coal60 I want everyone to work but coal is like a drug kick the habit -it wont last like solar- besides being dirty-unsafe and empowering the same old used to be instead of the "United "States - Stand together or fall divided-

  • @1canyonguy On the commonwealth of KY's flag it says united we stand, divided we fall....divided we fail is more appropriate...Coal is like a drug, What did THEY feed miners with black lung? MORPHINE. King Coal and the Pharmaceutical lobby have created a genetic predisposition to addiction-thereby leading to apathy....What we have here is the beginning of apathacide...Massey operates under so many subsidiaries...They have a vested interest in keeping the residents ignorant of revitalization.

  • Scott, you and your girlfriend are lame. The electricity you charged your camcorder with came from coal. This site will be reclamated, animals will move back in and even though it will be different, it will not be a bad place. They are just removing the coal. It is not like mining wih tailings that will never grow again. What benefit do you get from reporting half truths? What solution/altenative does your organization offer? Can you imagine the disaster if you end coal mining?

  • I'm glad I don't have to hear yall stupid bitches flapping your cock suckers. Goddamn pinkos

  • i wish theyd realize that for every 1 coal miner that loses a job, 15 other jobs are affected..isnt the economy bad enough?? i would love to see them feed our children, then they can bitch about coal mining. also i wish they'd show some footage of an old strip mine thats been replanted..hunters around here say its the BEST place to hunt, and its also very beautiful..if they want to continue to bash it, then let the idiots freeze in the dark!

  • untill u can fix the prob. without taking our jobs away keep u'r damn nose out of it..

  • why don't u come down here and we see how far I can shove those explosives up ur ass

  • Don't worry I hugged the tree before I cut it down

  • Aren't you just hilarious you self absorbed naive cunt. They should blow off your head with explosives instead. Wouldn't be wasting much inside of it.

  • i say f ck you all tree hugers itl be really funny when they let that shot off and that cat d11 comes for ur ass then try clibmin on a damn dragline fuckin dumbasses im 14 yrs old on my dad is a 46 yrs strip miner i know jus much about coal mining as he does soo fuk off tree hugers u can talk when u got somethin to rlly complain about

  • and also, you cant destroy an ecosystem and just repair it. things dont happen that way. you can never reconstruct what was there before. the money isnt invested in it that much and planting one kind of tree over the area does not constitute as "repairing it". thats saying that i could kill somebody, have a kid, and say all is better. life doesnt work like that. btw, i am not against coal until we can improve other sources of energy to be cost efficient. im just against mtr.

  • ad arguing against mtr doesnt mean the are necessarily against coal. im a moderate who would like to see and end to this. less destructive methods are on the way... and it couldnt hurt to look into those right?

  • get a fuckin life... better yet get a fuckin job and let people do their work and dont worry about it. i work in a coal mine in pa and we are taking the mountian top off to get the coal.. if i ever seen these damn hippys i would show the the full size of the tire on my 994 and how much it weighs and just say i didnt see them.. OOPS

  • This is the way thousands of people feed and provide for their family... you should be thankful! It is a way of life here...

  • Yall need to give it up.. MTR is legal and as long as coal is around it will stay legal, unless yall protest it to death. After we are done blasting and digging we are required by law to plant treest back in the area that we tore up and wildlife always comes back.If it wasnt for this we wouldnt have electricity on the east coast to power nothing think about what it does for you first

  • actually, to tell you the truth, mtr is responsible for less than .07% of electricity used in the US. it is something we could easily do without. im sorry...

  • @ZackHamel07 well im sorry... your a moron

  • MTR is legal.

  • MTR is legal for now, but that doesn't make it a responsible mining practice.

  • Showalter Micropower, good for WV.

  • I like how the idiots show it before it is repaired

  • Yeah, you never see a reclaimed mine site lol. These damn tree huggers never learn. Go live in a fuckin cave and stop being detrimental to society. How much energy are you consuming with youtube videos of ACTIVE mine sites. How many trees did you kill because of this video. Now we're gonna have to load 4 more trucks tomorrow just to replace the energy you tree huggers are wasting. You're not saving the environment, you're killing it by posting useless lies and videos of pre-reclamation lol

  • I would like to ask them what we should do for our energy. They are probably against logging and drilling as well, but I bet they live in a home made from lumber, use electricity made possible by coal, and drive cars fueled by gas and oil, seems a little hypocritical to me.

  • bob dylon ...one more cup of coffee

  • love the mountains or leave them

  • you fucking people need to get a fucking life there is nothing wrong with monutaintop removeal

  • i tihink its the most beaitful thing in the world and the hell with u tree huggers whats so great about trees

  • changes CO into O....but I am a coal miner.I love the mountains and the trees and animals. Coal isn't on every mountain and I think reclaimedland is beautiful. I swear if they would plant one silver maple they would have 500 as the ending result lol.Trees multiply like rabbits. What I am saying I love WV and its beautiful land God has supplied to us. We need coal or it would of never been here for us to use. I think people who get on here and write stuff need to quit wasting our energy we provide

  • Virginia has enough wind offshore to provide all of the state's electricity needs. Let's stop blowing up the mountains and use conservation, efficiency and wind/solar to meet our needs... and some of our wants!

  • tree huggin fucks

  • Comment removed

  • You're an idiot, enough said.

  • I agree with topping the mountaintop removal if we could find away to save jobs. I'm unground coal miner. and with out any coal miner top or bottom we would not have alot of stuff. we can't just cut or stop removal. How would we feed our kids and how would the world turn. I think mybay one day down the road we might find away to fix this but untill then. KISS MY COALMINNING ASS

  • Comment removed

  • Your such a jackass. You have no clue do you how many jobs this creates.People call us poor but you want poor take away these jobs.Whats running your little computer, how are your lights on, how do cook you food.Coal keeps the light on.

  • I say we should do a poll, and all those against coal mining should have their electricity shut off immediately, and untill further notice. I mean seriously...without coal, there wouldn't be enough electricity for everybody, so let the environmentalists sit in the dark, first.

  • YEAH !

Let the rapists enjoy the fruits of their labor alone!

    I went solar/wind in 2 days with $150.00

Now if i could just get you bastards from polluting my well water with your slurry injections into abandon mines,

i wouldn't have to spend so much on filters every 2 weeks to keep my family from getting cancer..

    RAPIST ASSHOLE

  • I have to say that sitting in the dark is good for the soul and secondly we have other things now, geothermal, solar, wind, hydroelectric, etc. No coal does not mean no electricity. Only relying on coal and coal power plants is more of a national security issue because it is not diversified enough for our safety and is killing and weakening us everytime we breath

  • I wish all you fucks would shut the fuck up. Coal, underground or surface has supported thousands of families for years. I wish i had as much spare time as you worthless fucks did.

  • -ALMOST- heaven huh?

    Go back to work slave,

leave the brain fights to the big boys that figured out how to support their family w/o Raping our planet !

  • The lady below me is crazy, please be prepared to sardonically laugh your ass off

    Hey inbred bitch, Surface miners

ARE NOT MINERS their heavy equipment operators, God damn the surface miners apathy and outright stupidity.

The UNDERGROUND boys are the real miners, lady, And don't you think it's funny no one ever says a word about underground? Maybe because it's not raping our forrests and mountains, I.e. YOUR OWN HISTORY, but then again , you people must be ashamed of it

    I am !

  • You people are ignorant! First of all, you guys are stuttering when trying to tell others about your video and then you get the year wrong, and just where do you get off posting a school on here that is NOT in any danger from the Edwight mine? And why is it you guys never show the reclaimation of these sites??? Because if you did you'd have nothing to complain about! God love & bless our COAL MINERS!

  • yeah, god bless the 15000 miners left.

im not sure if you are aware, but the coal mines used to employ over 135,000 people. they have buried and flooded more than 100,000 homes with this. and have force hundreds of thousands out of the state because blowing the top of the mountain off is cheaper. go ahead and stand by your coal company, they aren't standing by you.

  • Well spoken and informative

  • Plus, mining is pretty much a boom and bust type of business. First there is the boom with the jobs but they are only temporary and thus the bust. The jobs are not long term jobs so what is left afterwords? tainted ground water and an area where the hunting is much less productive?

  • kcslilwoman is either a corporate shill or an ignorant dupe. Mountaintop removal must stop. Please go to the Sierra Club and use their form to contact President Obama to stop it. We love West Virginia and want it to be around for our future generations.

  • Damn i thought this was a video of blowing a mountain top off =(

  • When will West Virginians stop being slaves to the coal companies? "Coal means jobs" is not such a proud slogan anymore. You work for non-union wages and no benefits. Don Blankenship ceo of Massey Energy received $37,059,000 in total compensation in 2007 and you act like he is doing you a favor letting you work. Stand up and be the proud West Virginians of our past. Demand that the state government get out of bed with the coal companies and bring other job providing industries to the state.

  • stopmtr says that coal miners are working for non-union wages and no benefits...Well, I am on a non-union job making $20/hr (how many West Virginians can make this without coal mining jobs?), and I have 90/10 health, dental, and vision. I have two weeks paid vacation, also...I'd call those benefits. Also, that hourly pay is actually low for coal mining jobs. Most pay 24-28 dollars an hour to non-union workers. Dont let anyone lie. We need these jobs.

  • Another misinformed treehugger...SAD! You people are so ignarant and don't even realize you are being fed a line of crap just because some people want to make a name for themselves & stir up strife...get a life!

  • ok you green cock suckers what type of energy would we use if we stopped coal mining so go suck on a branch dumbasses

  • geothermal, solar, wind, hydroelectric, and there are many others but a big one is just conservation and not overconsumption.

  • As a person from West Virginia i can say that the state depends on coal to survive. the reason that i am no longer there is that i didnt want to work in a mine. I was lucky enough to have the means to leave and get an education, but their are many people who grow up with miners for fathers and see their option as the mines. Strip mining does destroy the environment, but it makes work safer for those who would do it anyway.

  • Like it or not, Coal mining is what West Virginia's economy is made of. Has been supplying thousands upon thousands of jobs, for all West Virginians and their surrounding states. .... not to mention all of the electric that everyone of us use everyday... even the "tree-huggers" or whatever the politically correct phrase is.

  • i hate fucking tree huggers that hate working people or something assholes

  • they are not hurting working people. their are less jobs b/c of this...working people are hurthing b/c of machines...it makes that part of the area poor...

  • who are you calling poor? I don't rely on the government for checks or any kind of assistance ...my husband WORKS!

  • what a bunch of tree huggers. they complain about mining but i bet they don't complain when they are able to go home use electricity. selfish bastards. find something else to do besides harass hard working people.

  • We should mine all the coal we can. Lets power this country to the evil empire everyone thinks we are. Then go take them over and mine theirs too. Lets take over the world. Go America!

  • Fuck Don Blankenship....... Fuck MASSEY!!!!!!! i work at coal river #2

  • I have completely changed my outlook on Mountaintop removal. It is TERRIBLE!!! Everyone should read Coal River by, I think Michael Shnayerson.

STOP DON BLANKENSHIP FROM RUINING EVERYTHING HE HASN'T ALREADY!

  • yeah coal mining rapes

    i agree

  • thats how we get power u cant blame us for aeps doing

  • fizzybgood maybe you should go with out now so the rest of us could have more

  • do you think i care about the ground an trees . when we change the oil in are equipment it drain out on the ground . o ps. trees are good for is cuting them down me an my cuz cut them down for fun an than pour oil an gas on them an burn em !!!!!!!!! an you'll never stop strip mines cuz the GOV. has to much invseted in them

  • There are no living fish and won't ever be again here, because this "black water" never breaks down to a natural bio-degradealble state.

This is the title of the Show on Sundance Channel:

"Burning the Future: Coal Mining in America"

This documentary examines the long-term enviromental damage caused by mountaintop mining in West Virginia, and exposes the coal industry's public-relations campaign promoting the concept of "clean coal."(2008), (Documentary).

  • I don't think people really know what is going on.

They are taking chemicals to clean the coal and then they are dumping it into the water that we drink. This poison water is contaminating the water table that we all drink from as well as evaporating into the atmosphere. The disease of this creates terrible suffering and then death.

Special on the Sundance Channel about the coal mining of West Virginia. Look for it to be on again. Lois.

  • And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of ht sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Genesis 1:28.

  • Yeah, the bible also says that God turned people to salt, hair gave a guy superstrength, and that two daughter imbibed (drugged up with wine) their father so that they could fornicate with him. So yeah, take that argument somewhere else. Besides, all that multiplying led us to this. Overpopulation, food shortages, and energy crises. Wake up, man! Start making a difference for yourself instead of waiting for some miracle! Even if god is real, he ain't here on earth. We gotta save ourselves.

  • You are right. The Bible does tell us of those events. But looking rationally to the context the reason for their mention is to show All mankind of their need of God. Human kind, when left to itself will self destruct. That is because we are ALL sinners. Romans 3:23 "For ALL have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23) We can not save ourselves! God is our ONLY hope! Trust Him

  • i don't think God would of made coal if he thought we didn't need it. You can't save the world. Read the Bible you know that man destroys the Earth so if it's gonna happen its gonna happen.

  • Wow do you honestly believe what you typed? That has to be most ignorant statement I've ever read. God also put water on the earth and created the sun according to religion. Why not convert to these cleaner and more efficient means of producing energy like many European countries have done such as Norway. Your lack of education is sickening.

  • look dumb asses there 3 way to get coal some comes from underground some comes from the top of mountains and if it wasnt for coal we wouldnt have the things that we have today so next time you all see a coal miner tell him or her thank you for all you do and for those that aginst mountain top removal go jump off a cliff ass holes

  • I'd go without things, if it meant still seeing my hills where they are supposed to be and green like they're supposed to be. There are other methods of creating energy that will leave my mountains untouched, and that's what we need to invest in.

  • wow like we couldnt sacrafice a mountain o here and there mountain loving hippies

  • A mountain here or there? Try nearly 500. I'd say that's a few more than a mountain here or there.

  • i got to tell you all something coal minning is part of are history and if you dont like it than move you are all stupid ass holes that don't have nothing better to do than bitch about something my grand dad was a coal miner so was his dad and his dad before my dad is to and im going to be to and if it was not for coal mining there would be a lot of more people with out jobs if you want something to bitch about bitch about the price of gas

  • OK, but in 1950 there were 125,000 miners in WV; whereas in 2005 there are about 15,000. As the coal industry has turned increasingly to giant machines to do the job of miners, nine out of ten coalfield mining jobs have been lost in the past 80 years, while the amount of coal mined has nearly doubled. This is ignoring all the other horrible effects. So how is it that people who are against mountaintop removal mining are "stupid ass holes that don't have nothing better to do than bitch"?

  • yall most likley dont even live in west virginia and yall think you know what it is like and i got to tell you something its a lot safer to get it this way then the hole moutain falling on you and some reclaims are nicer than what the the hill was in the first place i know i live here and i will die here i hunt in these woods every time i can and if it wasent for the mines there would not be half the roads there are now that means there would be a lot more rock hill sides to climb

  • Dude, you just threw out your first argument; first you said coal mining is part of history and a lot less people would have jobs without it, then you justified getting rid of traditional coal mining because MTR is "safer". Besides which, "restoration" is a joke. Coal companies can't possibly restore the ecosystem to anywhere near the depth and complexity of its pre-disturbed (DEMOLISHED) state. Instead, they put as little $ as possible into making sure the countryside is green when they leave.

  • Most of my family lives in those mountains, both in VA and WVA. MTR only gives the appearance of being safer. In reality, the water is contaminated in many areas (with sulfur, nickel, cadmium and a whole host of other crap), so its taking its toll in other ways. If they ever come round and start blasting above your hollar, then you'll understand.

  • The short cutts of rich men will be poisoning us for years. Not just from coal. Come together people you don't have to be a tree hugger to want to have creeks with fish in them. I'M A RED NECK HILLBILLY OF TRIED AND TRUE and if you are to stop worrying if THE LIGHTS ARE ON and worry about if you can go fishing and enjoy sittin' in the mountains with out gettin' TOXIC Coal Slurry in your ass crack. If you're a TRUE West Virginian then you'de know that Reclaims look more like mars than earth.

  • Gotta Go With Nuke Power!

  • GO MASSEY!!! I bet these stupid people dont even live here but yet they complain, I bet coal powered the computer the used to post this video but its awful huh? IDIOTS

  • Boo for Massey man. Generally I'm opposed to MTR mining, but I do understand that for the time being it's keeping my lights on. But IMHO Massey has shown some serious disregard for state regulations, land owner's rights, other operator's rights, and for the environment in general. Other operators mine contentiously and take reclamation seriously. Don Blankenship just tries to buy the state supreme court.

  • 51% of our energy comes from coal. If you wanna b a tree hugger, move in one, the less energy you use the less WE mine coal. I see you don't have a problem wasting energy to charge a camera battery or to use a computer to post videos on youtube. WE will always mine coal, and blow the tops of mountains for what it matters, it's what WE do, and it keeps the lights on.

  • i hope you are hugging that tree when the cat D11 comes through.

  • Go Home Hippie!

Do you want power or not? No, you live in a tree I forgot.

  • there's other ways of getting energy fag

  • TRESPASSING HIPPIES!

  • its simple really yea coal mining does have it harm but it had uses to every 1 has to make a living some how some way and chemicals are doing alot more damage u people better stop worrying about coal and wory about are ozone layer stupid ass city bitches

  • removing tons and tons and tons of earth that has been there for 6 billion years and simply placing all of it somewhere else (Valley fills) and planting some pretty flowers and trees in it's place doesn't make MTR inconsequential. Those valley fills won't stand strong like a foundation of 10 million tons of rock, especially in WV's diverse and unpredictable climate. Those reclaimed parks and ponds will eventually become McDonald's and Exxon's.

    MTR is forever.

  • What is this "Open for Business" crap?

West Virginia will always be Wild and Wonderful!

    That woman looks familiar, btw.

  • Next time just tape that D11 pushing! That would proably be more interesting!

  • Thank GOd for caol Miners.

Remember - a counrty boy don't need you around any how!

  • I dont have a helluva lot of respect for you either cocksucker. How do you like that bitch?

  • Relax, this is one persons opinion. We need to look at all sides on the subject. I'm thankful for showing the video!

  • U fuckin cocksucking OMG we got to stop Mntn top mining , Yea stand and bitch about a coal mine but when a Fucking Walmart in morgantown striped off a whole damn hillside and filled in a 300ft revine with a stream thru it Not One god damn person said a fuckling thing . GO COAL . Enviromentalist let the bastards starve in the dark. OH acid mine drainage will be their if the coal isnt removed u fucktards

  • real mans work.. 12-14 hrs a day in cold damp dark hard working life, yes sir

  • Whoever made this is a fucking idiot, you show an elementary school, which half the the parents of them kids i bet are coal miners

  • i hear yo uberger, 50 percent on usa power is coal, while mining is hard on the enviroment, money comes from those hills, ask the people who work there, if there scared, they may be, thats true, maybe they are, however a mans gotta eat

  • YES THEY ARE! These people should be ashamed of themselves for misrepresenting the truth!

  • I love Wv. It has its ups and downs. Coal mining isn't what it is 30years ago. After they remove the coal on the mountian they reclaim it and they have to do it and its beautiful land afterwards with flowers and trees and etc. I am a underground coal miner and I'm proud. Thanks to God and coal you all have electricty to write garbage like this. Want to be a real eviromentalist live in the woods and wipe your as*'s with some leaves!

  • EXACTLY!!!!

  • WV was bought by the Republicans. Don Blankenship spent $6 million to get his cronies in office, and they kept up their end of the bargain by passing a rule change to the Clean Water Act which redefined "waste." now toxic heavy metals such as mercury, copper, arsenic, lead and selenium are dumped into your fresh water by the tons. the Bush administration did that for you. keep voting Republican; your children will thank you for their cancer.

  • To be honest, I'm proud of West Virginia it's a beautiful place to come and visit, you should come some time and see for yourself!!

  • No one thinks about the damage. In 50 years what are you going to give to your children? I live in Cabin Creek now, I know what West Virginia is, What makes it great, in 50 years, What will your children think of this wasteland you have left them? Will they leave the state too? Who will come to hunt on the Stripmine wasteland, who will retire to WV again?

  • sorry you live in cabin creek its a hole that someone made for you to live in so isn't that bad to your all's concern too! What about the people and i know cabin creek ppl do it too that change their oil and let it run down the pavement so it can get into our aquafiers and streams...the garbage on the sides of the roads...the cigerettes ppl smoke...i think we are caught up on the big stuff then the lil stuff that can change the world and its in every place not just WV.

  • dt5280- have you ever been to West Virginia? I doubt it. This kind of nonsense should be expected from a 40 yr. old man with a profile full of "farting" videos. I've lived here most of my life and never met an inbred. I'm sure we have our share of retards but they are probably inside watching people fart on film.

  • I agree...I'm not inbred and haven't met anyone who is yet. Have seen some ugly ppl but i think i find them in logan county and wyoming county lol but they aren't inbred!

  • Touchy topic, but really, what else is going to keep electricity fed to us who have graduated college and don't have sex with our kin? To hell with the Barny Fife's in WV; worthless tribe of retarded inbreds. Keep on mining that coal!

  • its sad that they did this but west virginia is a very poor state. with out this industry even more would live in poverty. coal is getting cleaner and we have a ton of it.

  • WHY is West Virginia the poorest state? Coal keeps us poor. And please stop insulting miners. Over 100,000 men have been killed mining coal because of greedy coal bosses like Don Blankenship and billionaire Wilbur Ross. Time to Rise Up West Virginia!

  • How did I insult miners? Your logic is flawed.

  • I lost my dad a month exactly after my first bday back in 1991 i had three older siblings a brother 7 another 14 and a sister 16 it was a big case at the time it was a non union mine and he had always ran miners but it was when the remote miners first came out and they didnt send him to his proper training so he basically was running it off his own knowledge and was crushed by a highwall i have no memory of it but it was a 1.4 mill lawsuite but that doesnt bring him back you know?

  • Accidents DO happen...and newsflash ya big dummy...all accidents in WV are mine related. There are more accidents because of drunks & dopers than there are because of miners. GET A LIFE!!!!

  • Both sides of the issuse here, and some states like WV, Mont, WY, extraction of resouces is the jobs that keep people in those states. Coal minning is dangerous work, and rather make nothing than risk my lungs on it, but you got to givers the miners respect here, or else you some of you could not use your computer.

  • I am all for coal mining..just not the strip mining. We need coal, but we should also force fascist companies like Massey to do more with clean coal technology. There has to be give and take on both sides. The environmentalist have a great point and the miners do as well..we need a cleaner earth and need to respect it much more..but we also need coal. There has to be give and take.

  • The enviromentalists need to get a life. If they want to make a point. Why don't they attack the developers who keep building shopping centers with acres and acres of asphalt parking lots? That is land that will never be reclaimed back any where close to how it was before.

  • I agree with wvu3535. The treehuggers never show the reclaimed sites. They claim the land is flattened. Funny. The ones I've visited have such rough contours it would be hard to walk across in straight line.

I know of some that are now being used for raising cattle and horses. Would have been impossible years ago. Industrial parks and golf courses are now in areas that were useless before.

  • Come on MASSEY ENERGY, Blow that bitch sky high, looks as if they missed some trees ill make sure i tell Don Blankenship next time i see him...Fuckin tree huggin bitches...Where ever you live i bet there were trees there....

  • Fucking tree huggers.

  • Maybe the States of Virginia could press for an offshore liquid natural gas terminal. They could own and distribute the energy, and burn gas with the profits. BTW, there is new technology to burn cleaner coal. And, some hope to use coal CO2 for improved enhanced oil recovery in the U.S.

  • anybody that would go into a coal mine is a dumbass dunce ignoranus idiot anyway. duhhhhhhhh. i am going to place myself under 144 lbs per square inch rock and support it with wood timbers duhhhhhhh. gee i wonder why it doesnt work duhhhhhhh. i only got 4 teeth duhhhhh

  • wow arent u fuckin ignornat, if it wasen't for coal miners, you wouldnt have electricty to run your computer and spread your little ignorant comments. god how could you be so ignorant to put down the very people that keep america running each day you dumb shit!

  • God how can you be so ignorant... these coal minings are destroying plant life and as whole bunch of nature not to mention people are dying from it... people in those area's lifer expectancies are 50 years... OH AND BY THE WAY... We don't need coal and bull shit oil to run energy this kind of way is not only harming our environment but also us because oh yeah we live here too you fucking moron.

  • lmao ya i know sacrefise is everywhere

  • Remember the next time you want to post a worthless rant like you did here. You gotta have coal to make the lights burn.Love to see you do a worthless rant by firelight,no wait you gotta have that little thing in the wall called an electrical outlet to run the computer,Moron! "You want to eat the steak, but you don't want to see the cow shot".

  • thats great! and coal doesnt just give us electricty but also make-up, cleaning products, etc...

  • You insults and language indicate that you are all those things you said.

  • Thank you!!!!!!!

  • I graduated top of my class with a 4.0 GPA and I have all my freaking teeth dumbass. I am a proud coalminer!!!! Better thank us for giving most of the world its energy to write dumb comments like this asshole shitface bitch! We both can play that game!!! Oh yeah I am a woman!

  • That's the difference between people who actually WORK for a living & those who DON'T! God bless OUR COAL MINERS!

  • That's the difference between people who actually WORK for a living (underground ) & those who DON'T! ( Strip miners)

    LMAO !

You just puke up what your fed I guess ?

  • I'm from WV and I'm surrounded by mines. I think it's wrong to remove our mountaintops. Every time I leave the state and come back, the first thing I notice is our beautiful rolling mountains. It will take millions upon millions of years to erode the mountains as far as these people are taking it. How about this... more nuclear power plants! Let's just blow up the planet faster and "Keep West Virginia Beautiful" while we're still around!

  • well nottaskert have u been a mine, u no how dangerouse it is in a mine fool. If we would get better tech brought to wv for mineing underground then it would be better, but still we gotta power our country

  • if GOD didn't want the coal to be used he would not have put it here all the people that gripe and bitch about surface mining if they are really so dead set against it the should call the power company and tell them to cut there power off and all the benefits that come from coal being mined in the community but that will never happen because the people that bitch do not have anything better to do

  • we have got to be fuckin stupid you dont even see the energy you use to power your computer is from coal and you dont see the reclamation that is done after they area is mined so quit crying

    LOVE SURFACEMINER

  • I HATE TREE HUGGERS!

  • WV is one of the poorest states in the country, if not the poorest, if you gotta blow up the mountains to feed your kids then blow up the mountains, no one in the country respects wv and does nothing but diss it but everyone wants a voice when it comes to the environment, if your not from WV then dont say sh t,

    sincerely,

southwest in the F ck you state

    HUNTINGTON AKA MONEYTON WV

  • and p.s. very very few people in wv are against coal mining, we're all with you, we support you, do what you do... :)

  • i live in west virginia, i wish the fuckin hippies would leave and go back to gay town califorina, they cant seem to understan that west virginia is the poorest state in the us. I also wish they wont blow up the mountains but we gotta we need money

  • where are you from? because i am from southern WV, and i am here to tell you that pretty fucking moutains do not pay the bills nor feed you and your kids mouths. I do not agree with destroying the earth, but i do agree that the people are more important than pretty mountains. I hope you agree, as well.
