  • Osu

    RIP Mr. Parker

  • You know... this is a great commercial... even by today's standards! :-)

  • Terrific technique. Back in the day everyone practiced with proper form, crisp and clean. To bad nowadays everything has been watered down. And Poor Vic Lareau, aka Speedman. I don't even know what to say about how far he's fallen off the kenpo wagon and into outer space.

  • What's with all the white gi's? Kenpo only uses black gi's.

  • @44excalibur Early Kenpo wore white. Some schools still do. :-)

  • @syphen888 Yes, I know. They wore white for the lower Dans, but black for the more advanced Dans. And It was William Chow who really began the practice of wearing nothing but black gi's instead of white ones.

  • @44excalibur Cool dude, I didn't know that. :-)

  • I've always wondered what goes on in a Kuh Latte studio.

  • LOL I barely saw this. hahah Kuh Latte studio. :)

  • OMG, Kenpo combined with BJJ concepts... to defend, etc.. Stand Up still rulez! :)

  • my main point is that the title 'senior' grandmaster was reserved mr. parker. any other 10th degree is just considered a grandmaster.

and i actually was incorrect in saying sullivan hasn't earned it. sorry for that.

  • Wow.. this is awesome.. thanks for putting this on (never saw it before); I'll always be an Ed Parker fan.

  • Chuck Sullivan is the man (the man doing the form in the mirror.) so unrecognized. Even himself, being the Senior to all Masters of American Kenpo. He's the highest ranking senior Grand Master after the Late Ed Parker.

  • unless the tenth degree black was given to him by ed parker, he hasn't truly earned it.

  • How stupid is that statement. Ed Parker is dead and Gone. Who gave Ed Parker his ranks? Can you tell me that?

Did Ed Parker really get a Black Belt from William Chow?

  • mr. parker and mr. chow had two different versions of kenpo. mr. parker essentially created american kenpo.

And i'm not saying mr. sullivan is bad at kenpo or a cheater, he's a great martial artist. so don't get all offensive.

and my father used to know mr. parker on a personal level, and he did get his black belt under mr. chow.

  • no he didnt get his blackbelt under chow. Chow didn't even hand him authority, he gave it to another man but by that time Parker was already recognized as the father of American Karate.

In fact, I gotta go see and teach for chuck sullivan and vic leroux tommorow in long Beach.

You can just email him. He's the longest ranking blackbelt Ed Parker Has(or had).

Read "The Journey" its a kenpo book with all the top masters. They'll say it themselves.

  • Hey Mr. History...you forgot a guy named David German. To qoute confucious. Man with ass on shoulder sniffing own hole. Lighten up francis.

  • I bet the Tracy's will say different.

  • What a sorry boy you are. I'd be willing to bet you've never met any of the Tracy's. Nor the countless other men who took what Mr. Parker tought them and spread it across the entire eastern coast. It's stupid little kids like you who have no real knowledge of what really happened other than what some bitter old man fed you. Unless you were around then, which you were'nt, you have no authority to speak about what happened because you're a clueless young man. Quit being a dick.

  • One more thing Ricky. If you really are a youth minister, your comments towards the Tracey's wer very Christ Like, I'm sure Jesus is proud of you. Way to set the example Mr. Minister.

  • Friend, I come from the Tracy system myself. I think I know enough to make a quick comment about the topic. The tracy system took the checks and proper movement out of kenpo. Anyways, what are you talking about "my statements". I made no harsh statements, nor did I disgrace anyone. I stated facts. it's people like you that are bitter and simply need someone to blame, so you choose the guy in this that represents Christ. Bravo chap... Bravo.

  • Ricky do you make a habit of telling fibs? First you claim Mr. Sullivan is the longest ranking Black Belt, which is not true. He recieved his Black Belt in Septemer 1962, there were at least 5 others before him. Which Tracy instructed you? Where? When and how long? The Tracy's have produced many of the finest Kenpo artist in the U.S, yet you call them garbage. I guess that's your idea of a fact? Is it Christ like calling people garbage? I'm sure Mr. Sullivan would expect better of his student.

  • I've been to Tracy's and Parker style. I pursued Parker style, but I respect what I saw and learned at Tracy's

  • @lrscgod Very true. In 1966 I studied at Tracy's in Menlo Park. I never forgot what Master Parker taught. Not just the violent side of karate, but the calm side as well.

  • @lrscgod I believe the Tracys studied under Professor William K.S. Chow and the Kara Ho system, not Ed Parker.

  • God rest this great man's soul

  • I've study kenpo on and off for years; I had just started a couple years after he died; I wish I could of met him. Ed Parker was easily one of the greatest men and martial artist ever.

  • Tight, Ed Parker was dope

  • The truly greatest martial arts master, the founder of the most realistic martial art, Edmunk K. Parker

  • muy bueno

  • The "UNDISPUTED FATHER OF AMERICAN KENPO KARATE," The Late Senior GrandMaster Edmund Kealoha Parker, Sr. My mentor, R.I.P.

  • so true

  • I guess with Bjj you better be ready to take a hit. A skilled Kenpo fighter knows how to avoid the take down while making you pay for it. At our Kenpo school we do some ground fighting as well, I don't worry about it.

I think both are very deadly. I think they are both in the top 5 for most deadly arts taught. This commercial was corny though. Ed parker ownz though.

  • lol.

  • Cranky must have real life issues or hate himself.

  • Did'nt one of his students, Manny reyes jr. got his ass handed to him, by a BJJ student called Hermis Franca.

  • watch 2 ordinary people fight a kempo guy.

then watch 2 orinary people fight a bjj guy.

    is bjj so good now?

  • Your talking in an octagon with rules right? No eye pokes or jabs/shots to the throat? No groin shots and no elbows to the back of your skull when you shoot in for a takedown and no biting on the ground? Were talking streetfighting not rolling on the ground looking for a submission.

  • No, double check your facts. Manny Reyes JR. was not a student of Ed Parker SR. His father was, his father I might also mention is not an MMA sport fighter.

  • You're right stonesour7. Manny jr. wasn't a student of Ed Parker. Manny jr. studied under his system, but he did get his ass handed to him by Hermis Franka.

  • this is true, while I don't know the extent of jr's training or if he still trains strickly in kenpo, I think we can agree that sh!t happens. He's not the best MMA fighter by far, but at the same time he is no kenpo master either I'm sure.

  • LOL Wow! that's great!

  • This guy capitalised on the ignorance of people to martial arts in the 70's. He is the donald trump of martial arts..same hair..same know it all attitude. "Americanised Budo" is crass and comical at best. But hey if you put enough badges on your gi, who knows, you might be a master...we could all be like elvis, wouldnt that be awesome.

  • You are ridiculous. You have no knowledge of the kenpo system. Ask any one of his first generation students about his training, or teaching. he was the real thing. He studied many martial arts before he actually started American Kenpo. Do everyone a favor and go back to your Karate for Kids tae kwon do school and shut up.

  • I didnt realize you could fit so much fail in one post.

I stand corrected. American Kenpo is the real deal.

  • Respectfully, you don´t know what are you talking about. Even Bruce Lee respected and honoured Mr. Parker... It´s not who is right, it´s about who´s the last man standing ...

  • it's not about who's right but who's left.

  • @chimibert I think the words you're looking for are "It's not about who's right, it's who's left!" -Ed Parker.

  • If your instructor dosent sound or move like Ed Parker , your not going to the right studio. LTKenpo is were youll find it.

  • There is a better place....

    AKKI

  • wanna bet?

  • AWESOME!!! Kempo Rocks

  • i ask my self,if master Parker would'nt be dead in this days... would it be so much (American) Kenpo federation...

  • Heck yeah Ed Parker Owns

  • oh yeah!
