@M14autoassault My actual degree was designed for ultimately understanding historical and current functions of the violent criminal mind in case I moved over from my job into the section for tracking serial murder types. So, that's the caveat....my run in with social science education and it's issues was sort of a side note.

As for reading an entire book that I am not naturally interested in...I read many books in short spans of time while working full time with a graduate degree as a goal. I hated it. It can burn people like be out. (not saying it wasn't worthwhile). Some people are made for that. It would take a lot of motivation for me to do that again.
@M14autoassault You just reminded me that the solution that went through my mind involves moral conflicts, and puts what is referred as "moral obligations" as a lower priority to the ultimate goal of welfare reform (and education reform because that's an essential part of the whole picture). I suggest U read or at least research a book called "The Debt" by Randall Robinson. In the book Robinson makes a persuasive case for reparations for slavery & the century of de jure racial discrimination that followed with monetary restitution, educational programs, & the kinds of equal opportunities that will ensure the social & economic success of all citizens.

@M14autoassault As far as a total welfare solutions I have A solution involving many parts. But I doubt that it is the BEST solution. Mine would involve education reform. I can't see a painless solution. I'm betting somebody has a better overall solution, but I doubt that any solution is painless. The problem is, a pain causes resistance, and true solutions would need multiple pieces of legislation, and therefore a fight on each part. If one part fails, the whole thing can be undermined.

The census bureau, BEA, BLS, etc etc. their numbers are derived from each state reporting to them, the states get the numbers from reports from cities and counties. Gov. websites just tally all the info they collect from the states and the states have the backup information, if errors are made they are corrected. tHE maniputaltion comes from secondhand reporting from media.

I'm amazed that Obama didn't go off and blame conservatives for that shooting. First time in a while he did something smart. Must have better advisors than before. My one beef with the whole conference was the weird cheering. I thought it would be a little more solemn, given the situation. It was like a highschool pep rally. I hope the families were ok with that.

As for reading an entire book that I am not naturally interested in...I read many books in short spans of time while working full time with a graduate degree as a goal. I hated it. It can burn people like be out. (not saying it wasn't worthwhile). Some people are made for that. It would take a lot of motivation for me to do that again.

@M14autoassault You just reminded me that the solution that went through my mind involves moral conflicts, and puts what is referred as "moral obligations" as a lower priority to the ultimate goal of welfare reform (and education reform because that's an essential part of the whole picture). The practical problem (generally where's the money) the effective side(is free money healing) I'm actually pretty well read on the reparations issues. Maybe I'll just put out the education problem.

@M14autoassault As far as a total welfare solutions I have A solution involving many parts. But I doubt that it is the BEST solution. Mine would involve education reform. I can't see a painless solution. I'm betting somebody has a better overall solution, but I doubt that any solution is painless. The problem is, a pain causes resistance, and true solutions would need multiple pieces of legislation, and therefore a fight on each part. If one part fails, the whole thing can be undermined.

The census bureau, BEA, BLS, etc etc. their numbers are derived from each state reporting to them, the states get the numbers from reports from cities and counties. Gov. websites just tally all the info they collect from the states and the states have the backup information, if errors are made they are corrected. tHE maniputaltion comes from secondhand reporting from media.

@M14autoassault The first social program was Social security for the elderly because severe poverty among elderly who had worked all thier lives was well over 50% as they did not have enough income to survive on when they could not longer work due to wages being to low to keep up with cost of lving. It has reduced poverty among the elderly by a substantial amount especially among elderly widows.

And certainly these programs are better than selling people to the highest bidder on auction blocks as endentured servants which used to be the way poor people regardless of color where dealt with, or for those that were not saleable being stuck in poorhouses under some pretty unpleasant conditions.
