That was my problem with this video.I think this is Nona's best vocal performance, and even though the lyrics are a bit...uhhhh...commercial, this is a great pop song and should have been a smash. But when I saw the video, I knew people in mainstream America wouldn't go for the androgynous "leading man." I was right.
@TyjaluvsChaka Hey--Nona is a fantastic singer. She doesn't have Chaka's range, or Patti's for that matter, but in terms of pure vocal firepower, agility and soul, Nona is the real deal. Look up her solo performance of Labelle's "Gypsy Moths" (she performs it with Coati Mundi's band (not sure how that is spelled). She gives Patti a run for her money!

Yes Boy George came along in 1982, and was huge, but the second he referred to himself as a "drag queen" on national TV, Culture Club took a nose-dive. Much is made of gender-bending in the early 70's (Bowie, Dolls) but the truth is that most of them never had any kind of mainstream acceptance.
