For all the people who claim it is copying kpop, the truth is kpop is also not original, the boy band idea came from the U.S., the clothing and make-up come from other asian artist throughout asia who pre-date these groups by decades. The truth is there is room for everybody so why try to divide. The reason kpop is more popular is because of marketing.

@yellowstar234 I'd have to disagree. American music is nothing like K-Pop. Now I'm not saying American music is bad, I mean I'm American, and I do like American music. But I prefer K-Pop because of the unique sounds is always creates. American music (nowadays at least) is very... well for lack of better words, predictable. There's nothing ever unique about it. Korean Pop always creates different sounds and experiments with new things. Not to mention these groups work A LOT harder than US artists

@yellowstar234 That I would agree with. I've only been listening to it for about 2 (maybe 3?) years, and haven't really branched off much. I mainly stick with SMENT, and have noticed that the K-pop songs have started to lose the flare that first made me love them. I always said that it was their attempt at "Americanizing" there music, but I am very much against them "Americanizing" music when their unique K-Pop sound is so much better.

Dixie Chicks, just to name a few. Countless indie artists. American MAINSTREAM music is pretty bland, but I wouldn't say Kpop is mindf*ckingly original, either. Kpop groups work harder? That doesn't diminish the quality of American music.
