Far Out? Far Out? Man this group sends me daddy O, got to go now reel2reelbill so let me make like a banana and split....."plant you now, dig you later"
As a 16-year old who is regularly exposed to rock, R&B, hip-hop, and rap, I still can't quite gain a liking for those kinds of music like the one I have for this. This famous tune is just amazing, and I really wish I could here more like it coming out of the radio these days.
saw them in Aust. lastnight, recent great review said (in part)
As an (extremely) amateur guitarist myself, the main highlight of the night for me was always going to be watching Steve 'the Colonel' Cropper (inarguably one of the greatest guitarists of all time) and bass player Donald 'Duck' Dunn showing their mastery of their respective instruments; and yet, despite watching Cropper play so fast that his hands appeared to be melting, my eyes and ears kept being drawn back to Sebastian himself.
I saw these guys play in Bristol (UK) in 1963 when I was 15. With Otis Resdding and numerous other soul singers. The show was awesome, But GO is stil one of my top 10. I can play on the keyboard and the guitar but can't quite do "Booker T" and "Steve Cropper" - just a question of time.
I agree its better than all the Sex driven, booty bumpin vids. Im not saying some of the RAP songs are bad jsut cut out some of the BUMPIN AND GRINDIN
Saw Steve Cropper interviewed on a Beatles retrospective- "John Lennon's Jukebox". Great PBS program that reviewed Lennon's personal collection of favorite hit singles, and Booker T was among those key influences from whom the Beatles osmosed.
Saw them twice Atlantic City Pop Fest 6/69 and NYrsEve 1990, Lone Star Cafe, NYC, got to speak to Duck while he was duckin out between shows...the greatest group ever
This is what I listen to when I fire up the computer in the morning. I play it over and over... interesting thought... if you look at some of their performances during the seventies... they are so wasted and zoned. I feel really privileged to see this B & W early performance.
Yes I think that is the Watusi they are doing....I just think it really adds to the 60's atmosphere....These shows Hullabaloo and Shindig just had the great artists on them...I don't see this type show or performance anymore...sad.
The posers of today try to hide their shallowness behind their pouts and snarls. In this era we are stuck with a bunch of wannabees who don't know what a real performance is.
Doesn't get any better than this!
