The most under rated artist ever. I've been to a lot of concerts but the one I have seen the most was Joe. Saw him with the Eagles several times, and while I like the Eagles, they needed him more than he needed them.
Super underrated musician, great album, love the1st Barnstorm record too. The only Eagles song I ever liked is "Pretty maids all in a row", Walsh wrote it didn't he?
The memories this brings back are simply priceless ... thank you for drenching my mind in smiles ... One cant ever get enough of "the smoker you drink the player you get" ... Ithe next hour replaying sound and memories makes my day ... week... month ... Joe was ahead of his time - like Todd Rundgren ...
Joe can give you the impression that he's the laziest guy on the planet, but anybody who's ever tried to make music sound this laid back knows how hard a job it is. JW has always been a master at that.
Rocky Mountain Way was a teaser for this LP the same way Money was for Dark Side Of The Moon. I love the classy warm feeling of this LP, the sophisticated arrangements, and tasteful studio tech. A real class act, a one of a kind band.
i bought this album when it first cam out. I remember being dissappointed at first because the radio stations were only playing Rocky mountain way. I thought that the entire album must be filled w/hard driving rock. The more i listened to it the more i learned how to listen to it. I had to put my ears in a different place. I then realized that this album is amazing. I just wish it had more of joes guitar.
@alsaxe1 I felt the same way..I'm 53 years old now and got this album when it was first released..and it still is just growing and growing on me..Joe Walsh is like a stained glass window in a church..you see one day and it looks one way,,then the light changes and you see i again for the first time..
Seen them at Cessna Stadium in Wichita, the early 1970's with R.E.O., and Leon Russell, it was my first rock concert, I was on the run and madly in love with a pretty NDN girl who was brown and I was green...
When I was 17 in the 70's a friend came over to trade records. He has this record and another Joe Walsh, Joe Walsh who? I was sooo hooked and I remember having to trade hard for them as I had no money. I'm 53 now and I still have these albums. Joe has carried me thru good and bad times. Jo's music helped me thru the death of my best friend not long after I traded. Thanks Joe.....
@pdjmwj1 Nice post. I am also 53 and still have this album. Have not thought about it in years & years...not sure what led me here today. Youtube can really jolt your memory.
Saw this albums tour & Focus was the back-up band. Poor Focus...you have to realize that it was in Houston, TX way back when. They came out yodeling! As killer as they were...just a bit too Europa for the Bayou City crowd...know what I mean? After major heckling, said Fuk You Houston, we'll never play here again. The crowd went wild and did a Joe Walsh chant for about 30 minutes. I think Joe stepped it up a notch and rushed to the stage just to make sure the place wasn't completely destroyed.
I love this song, it has encouraged me from the start. What a wonderful spirit Joe has shared with us...
Maybe we can reawaken, renew, regain our hope...we can let go of the substances that cloud the sun, like alcohol, cocaine, amphetamines, opiates, and just get back to gentle nature?
I believe so, and am spreading what I can of optimism, hope, love, healing, happyness...
@sillybear969 sounds like someone mighta taken off & gone down that road a time or two in that ole imaginary mode of transportation...it doesn't matter too much anymore, since it was 40 years ago anyway; but hey whatever works
WOW! I forgot how many cool tunes this album had on it. I practically wore this record out when I was a youngster. I'm heading to the used music store.....AFTER THE EAGLES CONCERT TONIGHT! I'm 48 years old and I'm finally seeing Joe Don, Glen and the boys for the first time! YEAH!!!!
i like anything joe does , , , i agree with 1952FMS , im grateful to be here at the same time that joe shared his strings with us long live Mr Walsh ! ! ! his music gives me an eargasm ! ! ! ! ! LOL . . .
I've been saying "this is the best song, that's the best song by J. Walsh" all night, but Days gone by is really his masterpiece. Not on youtube tho??
@mark22isaking ya why doesn't somebody put that song out there! DAYS GONE BY is the sayz all of every feeling one would love to say as a last testament before saying goodbye.
A lovely Supertramp sense about this song and performance....... or, should I say, Supertramp do a good Joe Walsh? Both are so ace. Ta for the post, ChrisMcRae.
sure it is......say you are one of them dudes that dies in acar crash or something else and you die young......well its over...now say you spend 20 years in arow stoned drunk and burnt up. your a head of the game
Wow! Feel like I just re-discovered an old friend. I guess I did. I haven't heard this music since I was was a teen back in the late '70's.
