“And when it is said to them: "Make not mischief on the earth," they say: "We are only peace-makers." Verily! They are the ones who make mischief, but they perceive not.” (Al-Baqarah 2:11-12)
His father actually tried to make peace between Israel and Palestine and all he got was bunch of shit from the lobbyists. We can't have peace if the lobbyists control our own government.
As an israeli, I can assure you that 10 Minutes after an Atomic boom with explode in Israel, all arabs capitals and all major cities in Iran will become a dust!!
I thought it was excellent reporting and that the presenter Sami Zeidan is a real champion! I found Itamar Ben Canaan to be unintentionally comical with his ever so lousy hasbara... As IF politics can - or should - be kept out of a conversation like this!
The Israeli guy is such an idiot he couldnt even refute anything that the Palestinian man said about the topic of discussion: The proposed peace process brought by Bush. All he did is talk sh*t. LoL. What an idiot he kept interrupting everyone. Basically a dog in a suit lol
The eye's of the USA are opening to the atrocities that are being perpetrated in Palestine and on the Palestinian people. Too long the USA has supported this hypocrisy. PLEASE hold strong people of Palestine. Do not settle for anything less...From the River to the Sea.
I wholeheartedly agree with Iman Aoun when she says that Itamar ben Canaan gives people a good insight into a certain type of Israeli mindset. Fascinating that he identifies as a 'left-wing' zionist and a former 'hardline marxist'. Reminds me of an interview back in 2001 by Graham Usher of the now self-exiled Jewish Israeli academic Ilan Pappe who talks about "the peculiar character of the left in Israel". (The interview's online, so just google that phrase if you want to find it).
hi nicholas, yes, i'm happy to give you my two cents worth! i think this 25min video is worth watching and the ilan pappe interview worth reading as well as anything else by ilan pappe as he's one of the most important historians/commentators re israel/palestine today.
aft: Okay, I read the article. "Peculiar" is a word used to describe the American South's attitude toward the preservation of slavery and the culture built on it-- there is something insular and thick-headed about the Israeli view (and I grew up around many Jews and have a great regard for them, in general). I believe that a certain American blindness accompanies the Israeli mindset.
aft: (2) By that I mean I think we must recognize the very great likelihood that the U.S., at the least, mishandled the entire '48 affair. The U.S. has a long history of cultural insensitivity, and bull in a china shop activities, in the region. You may see the ghost of blockheadedness in Bush's "checkpoint" remark. It would help if the U.S. owned up to its responsibility for the genesis of this entire debacle. (Keep in mind I'm for the preservation of Israel.)

You have be FUCKING kidding me! Bush as a man of peace? Nobody did more to destabilize the middle east in the last 10 years.
At the moment you have to decide between a pro-western/pro-israel government or a democratic one.
