  • One of my favourite songs of all time.... so uplifting, touching, inspiring, and brings a lump to my throat. I hope be exactly like this with my children :) Hope they love me like Michael and Jane love there parents in this :)) x

  • not quite kite flying weather today. think i saw mary poppins flying past my windae a minute ago. she looked a bit pissed off and bedraggled i can tell you.

  • In thailand, flying a kite means to masturbate

  • @Jordan96CND ...why do you have to turn one of the greatest musicals of all time to something like that...?

  • I just found out how this song came about. The composers father inspired this song because he was a kite maker. I didnt know that. I thought that was pretty interesting.

  • My friend is actually related to the young girl in this movie :)

  • I'm watching this clip today because I just finished The Siamese Cat Song scene on Lady And The Tramp. This song was after The Siamese Cat Song On Heigh Ho.

  • Listen closely. Those violins go from a low note to high unlike any other song ever, seriously. Leave it to Disney/!

  • The song I use to get me in the mood to clean house!

  • The "Fly a Kite" song touches the strings of my heart---- makes me cry. I guess I had a role model who was like a father to me and he use to buy me kites and we would go to parks in New Jersey and fly kites when I was a little girl. Mary Poppins is a true classic and should remind us to laugh and to be happy and appreciate people who can transform our lives. I could go on here, but enough words spoken. Wonderful movie, great actors! xoxo TLM

  • Seeing all the bank directors flying kites always cracks me up

  • Mary's expression at 1:36 kills me! You can sense the loving sadness. Great moment by Julie Andrews. I would've given her the Oscar just for this moment alone.

  • @musicaltheatergeek79 actually, it starts more at 1:34.

  • I used to cry in this song because I knew it was almost the end :-(

  • Not going to lie, this song makes me cry in a positive way. Such nostalgia. It will be a tragic day for the world when we lose Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.

  • Aww, I love this. :)

2:04-2:07!! Best moments ever! :D Where it's all happy and carefree!! :3

  • Make sure you spend time with your children even though you're busy trying to survive because they will be gone in 18 years and like the song says, don't blink.

  • Didn't even say goodbye :(

  • @ichitastical oi NATHAN U FAG

  • @goombamario1 I am neither "Nathan", nor a boy or a "fag", but I admire your attempt at a conversation with me.

  • fag

  • Notice they're all flying kites without fail, and it's barely windy.

  • those kids make flying a kite look so easy!

  • You folks have no idea howhappy this song makes me smile. Perfection

  • Today is such a perfect day for this song! WOO!

  • Am I the only one that cries when she leaves, no matter how many times I watch it?

  • That what I said sir. Go fly a kite. Oh, no, sir. No I don't mean you personally. LOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 18 people do not wanna fly a kite!!!!

  • MY FAVORITE PART OF THE MOVIE :) I USED TO REWIND,YES REWIND LOL, THIS PART OVER AND OVER <3

  • It took him all night to stick a few pieces of tape on a kite?

  • This is one of the few happy memories from my childhood between 10 and 18

  • the more i watch this video, the more i think of gay busey...:)

  • did anyone else notice that at 0:10 the kite has the Pi symbol on it?

  • 17 people went to go fly a kite.

  • Favourite song of all time :D

  • I was doing my AP environmental homework about air pollution when I started singing, "up through the atmosphere, up where the air is clear." Then I went to watch this video. God I love this movie!

  • @suchaspacecadet that sort of thing happens to me all the time. Often with songs I can only remember a line or two until I go back and watch it.

  • 17 people need to go fly a kite.

  • LOL i love this movie and i love the word tuppence :)

  • It always upset me as a kid that those ungrateful kids never even said goodbye to Mary Poppins. Little bastards.

  • @scottishthunder47 They did, in the scene just before this one.

  • @scottishthunder47 Couldn't have worded that better myself. Agreed. Spoilt little bastards.

  • @scottishthunder47 You're real mature

  • @scottishthunder47 They did say goodbye, in the scene before this was because they were crying and told mary poppins not to leave.

  • Father died laughing! 8D

  • Anyone knows why his collar is loose?

  • what little kid do you hear nowadays say "however did you manage it?"

  • ITS THE BIG 4!! 2:21 lol

  • "I only want to see David."

Peter Sellers, recuperating from a heart attack, speaking of David Tomlinson.

  • Charlie Brown created 17 accounts to dislike this video

  • 17 people are NOT holding tight to the string of their kites!

  • what a jolly song!

  • 17 people are douche bags!

  • This reminds me of when my daughter was about 2 and she used to dance round the living-room with an umbrella. She's now 21! Brings back happy memories but can't help feeling a little melancholic for the past. Ahhhhh.

  • BENJAMIN BARKERRRRRR

  • I wish the world was exactly the same as in the movie. They're all so happily and they're all friends. Now it's like everyone doesn't want to know someone anymore, no one says a goodmorning or whatever to a stranger anymore.

  • @kioko01 seriously people are only on the comptuer , back then with no computer people were much a happier persons , wish i couldv live in those time.

  • @kioko01 We can make it that way, one hello, one smile, one CHOICE at a time. We all have it,you know - the ability to CHOOSE. Instead of making a wish, make a CHOICE. CHOOSE to say hello, to offer a smile, to do the right thing this time, even if the wrong thing is easier to do. Instead of looking at someone else, CHOOSE to look at "the man (woman) in the mirror", and make the right CHOICE when its your turn to offer.

  • The little boy died age 22 in England poor thing :( R.I.P you will never be forgotten>

  • 17 people broke their kite

  • Is there better song that gives you the sadness of something great ending and the happiness of something great beginning all together? This song gives me shivers, but in a great way!!

  • Father died laughing!

    Oh, I'm terribly sorry!

Oh, no, nonsense! Nothing sorry to be about! Never seen him happier in his life! LOL

  • this song is the greatest. it's like being high with happiness

  • I remember seeing this movie several times on HBO. That and "Bedknobs and Broomsticks". These motion pictures were Rated G by The Motion Picture Association of America. :)

  • School summer holidays 1973 - I was 9.. very windy day...hardly a penny between us - but 4 of us managed to put what we had together and bought a kite...30p from the local shop. We got it up in the air - and it stayed there for 7 hours!!! We tied it to a post - and worked 'shifts' to 'look after it'. Organisation, teamwork and fun - and not a computer in sight.... (:

  • I saw this Summer 64 at the Ontario Theater in Washington DC...I so wish things were now as they were then..64 was a magical wonderful year this movie was so fitting of that time..Dick Van Dyke and Julie Andrews were superb together

  • Love this movie.

    Thank you.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Thank you, Love from the 7th Angel

  • This is my favorite song from the movie.

  • i know the boy died in the 70s of cancer and mr banks died in 2000 of stroke other than that they are alive

  • I wonder how old they all are now and if they're still alive..

    Does anyone knows that?

    Let me know ! :D

  • @kioko01 The little boy died in the 70's aged 22. The father died of a stroke in 2000.

  • @Nicoco95310

Oh that's very sad, R.I.P for the father and the little boy :)

Ps: Thanks for the info :D x

  • One of the all time WORLD CLASSIC childrens films !!.............. MAGICAL !!!

  • Ha ha, that is true about Sean Connery. But I think people would be disappointed at anything less. That's like hiring Shatner and asking him not to chew the scenery.

  • Ha ha, that is true about Sean Connery. But I think people would be disappointed at anything less. That's like hiring Shatner and asking him not to chew the scenery.

  • This is absolutely wonderful. Take time out of your busy schedule to enjoy your family and friends.

  • All these years, and I never noticed that Mr. Bank's hat was messed up. Or his collar ruffled actually.

  • the kids act surprised about their father being able to fix the kite. they must have thought he was a dope. though i love the movie, i wish the end had mary tell the kids that she'd be visiting sometimes. the real end makes it seem that the kids were to forget that she existed. i guess she often hung around with kids long enough for kids to develop better relations with the parents. she likely traveled from family to family, and i guess bert would visit her (at least when she was in london ).

  • Aw, I love this movie. Heard the stage musical is an abomination. I even miss Dick Van Dyke's worst-cockney-accent-ever. :)

  • @Danyell214 Saw him on Bonnie Hunt here on YT. He was good natured about the fact that he was the second worst accent in all of film after Sean Connery always sounding Scottish no matter what nationality he was playing

  • @Danyell214 the stage musical is amazing..anyone who told you it was an abomination is sadly mistaken..it has one of the best choreography ever..

  • the chorus of this song was played during my English exam, it was sung by a little girl. It was really creepy

  • Damn it, now I want to fly a kite too!

  • Une si belle chanson pour ponctuer la fin de ce film qui nous emmène ailleurs, et nous rappelle tant notre enfance ... Beaucoup d'émotion, mais beaucoup de joie.

  • I love this song

  • Dick van Dyke's pig cockney......

  • So basically he murdered the old man and got his job. And no one's upset. And they say there's no perfect crime.

  • @martiniisgood I agree sir! LoI!!!!

  • Oh shit, yeah, let's go fly a kite!!!

  • I love Julie Andrews!!!!!

  • Happy memories of my dad and I on Fire Hills, flying kites... ;'') Miss you sooooo much Dad

  • I have to say, this song was the cause to buy me Kite and fly it

  • how can anyone not love this

  • Every time i see this scene i cry :) This scene is SOOO BEAUTIFUL !!

  • I started thinking how i never really spent time with my parents when they were together (they divorced when i was 5.) They were always working! But atleast I spent time with my sisters, but they've grown up and moved away. I wish i could re-expeience the 90's/turn of the Millenuim and document/save stuff from it.

  • I miss being a child. It may be unhealthy but i'd like to go back. I was born in 1994, and eventhough it was made in 1964, it has stood the test of time. I watched it constantly when I was a tot. I woke up this morning with this song in my head, and I vidualized a shot like the one at 1:27 only this time it panned up to the London skyline in the 1910's.

  • Is this british or american?

  • this makes me want to go fly a kite!!!! but no wind yet..

  • this is like the saddest most beautiful moments of the whole movie! i can't help but cry.

  • I still love this movie and the songs! Thank you so very much for sharing. Makes me smile. Love and Blessings xo

  • Did you know that the main character of the movie wasn't Mary Poppins? Not even Jane or Michael. It was Mr. Banks. :)

  • hahaha, this is amazing.

So excited that I found this!!

  • I feel.. so melancolic and happy at the same time.. hahaha.. and at the end.. it makes me smille.. its a great song... !!

  • This song makes me happy :-D

  • I LOVED this song when I was a little girl - I used to sing it every time I went to the grocery store (much to my mother's humiliation).

  • Nothing really beats the original though - most of what makes it so nice to listen to is the good memories and sentimental attachment.

  • The melody in this song represents a sad and happy moment and the end of one great thing and the beginning of another better than any song ever.

  • Best part of the song is the whole family from 1:15 to 1:40!

  • This also appeared in Heigh Ho Sing Along!

  • wonderfull.*.*

  • oh my god

I remember this scene haha.good times lol

  • this movie is great. I love this movie. best live action disney movie I think.

  • It kind of seems sad that they didn't say goodbye though. But still a good song!

  • Would have been sadder if they did. I thought it worked better this way, with a beloved component of their life becoming unnecessary and disappearing before they could realize either event was happening, and without leaving any trace.

  • i love this movie n wen u feeling down it cheers u up

  • it terms of the musical arrangement and orchestration by irwin kostal, the strings in this piece are wonderful, especially in 1:16-1:30 when the strings are going higher and higher til they are at probably their higher pitch. it goes with the lyrics and it sounds beautiful as well.

  • I love this movie!

  • this is a grate song

  • let's go a fly kite and send it soaring!

  • Up! Through the atmosphere!

  • Up where the air is clear!

  • were was this movie filmed??? i wanna go there

  • It was filmed in California

  • Back when Disney was still wholesome. Disney did do their share of marketing back then, but the way they do it now...... I just scratch my head and it seems they're getting their marketing schemes from MTV.

  • i agree totaly

  • Too bad Disney is now about flash and no substance. Fortunately for Disney though, Pixar is the one who still has a clear idea of what substance with flash is about.

  • go and fly a kite!!!

  • wonderful

  • best movie ever ♥

  • i get teary eyed everytime i see this movie
