Just had a thought. Neurologically speaking, isn't there no difference between real action and thought action? I mean if I visualized exercising, wouldn't I get the dopamine hit.. therefore allowing for no exercise to happen? Possible loophole...
@cupshalfphil no the artificial reward would depend on actual physical movement, say pumping the pedals of an exercise bike. in the fourth chapter of the iPlant novel I speculate about artificial reward that's directly based on the user's brain state. in that scenario your loophole might become a problem.
Interesting Sussex University held the seminar, as the maj. of Tavistock's research cntrs are there.
Now, Tavistock's a think tank responsible for marketing ideas to the public & Aldous Huxley, who was employed by them, in 1962 at Berkley said:
"... anybody who has watched the behavior of rats with electrodes placed in different centers must come away from this experience with the most extraordinary doubts about what on Earth is in store for us if this is got a hold of by a dictator."
