I like polish hens, as with other living lawn art breeds, but it's a pity they are inbred and often unhealthy, one of ours died of a prolapse a few years back...but we once had a polish rooster and brown or red sex-linked hen, two dumb birds they were, but they had a little bird we called mutt and she is very intelligent and is quite the escape artist, and pretty as well.

I used to have Polish rooster and hen but mine were retarded.... The hen jumped in the neighbors dog fence and they are aggresive and the rooster chases us and then runs if we look at it ( and pecks )

I too, have a Polish chicken. She is our favourite of our flock. She is very special and loves a cuddle and walk round the garden in my arms. She is really comical and hides her head in my jumper for warmth and goes to sleep. Sadly, she is not very strong and we have brought here back from the brink of death 2 or 3 times. If she lays an egg, it is very soft and she collapses in a calcium crisis. We have to giver her calcium supplement by mouth tube regularly or she would die.

@lizzy123471 Thanks for that Lizzy. She has had a bad time lately. She went into shock after being in water, then ripped off one of her claws, then had a bad reaction to some new food. She is fine now though and wanting attention. She just loves to be cuddled all the time.

Sadly, "Scatty-Hattie" died in July.

She appeared to be in really superb health one day.. We have never seen her look so well. Then the next day she was out of sorts and died the following night. We still have no idea why.

She was the most special girl ever. She did not seem to think she was a chicken and just wanted to be with us and cuddled. She is sorely missed. The garden seems so dfferent and the other girls seem to miss her, too.

There will never be another Scatty!

oh thanks, I had one some years ago, it was a gift from a neighbour, but I never knew what they were, I found it really funny but beautiful, it was a rooster with big white feathers on it's head and the rest of the body had black feathers, just like the one's in here. Thanks again.
