Excellent job, and excellent choice of material. You want a real musical education? Study Gentle Giant. You want to be a great drummer? Study this old progressive stuff and stay away from machine gun-metal-double-pedal mania. Weathers is a great drummer to learn from. Good luck! And thanks for keeping this great music alive.
It moves me to see young kids learn and play the great music that I loved when I was their age, and that I thought was completely forgotten today. In case you wonder, it was no more popular those days than it is now. Now it's heavy metal, in those days it was disco. I and my progrock friends were 4 people in a school full of disco and light pop fans.
Keep up the work, this is the best music scholl that you could ever get.
Nice job! Being a fan of Giant will inspire you to eschew from the sheep and established standards of society today; thus allowing you to concentrate on following your own path of creativity.
What`s the point of your message? I think he obviously know that! Everybody`s got alot to learn, through the whole entire life. I think he will be a great drummer!
the real slipperman AKA genesis nut is right I luv to challenge myself with prog and weathers is really hard for me BUT FUN your playing is so solid you missed that same damn SNARE crack near the begining that I always miss, have you seen the vid where he plays it FANTASTIC his drum faces AWESOME
You'll get it. Concentrate on finding where the kick and snare land against the rest of the band, especially the BASS. Weathers is a GROOVE drummer with a totally bizarre sense of where the "backbeat" is. He can be very daunting to learn at first, he loves to hide the one with a lot of 4and and an-uhh kick/crash shots. Have fun, keep playing to Giant. Most kids your age are trying to play Slipknot, which may be challenging from a speed and stamina standpoint, but is childsplay in the big picture
I totally know what you mean! This video is about a year old now, and I've developed a lot! I love playing prog, but i've been trying to play some other stuff lately (scince I joined a music school and got a drum teacher for the first time in my life!)
I personally hate it when all the kids love playing metal which essentially means no technique, only speed like you said.
Better then me when I was 16 hah, but then again I started at, well 15. Anyways, very good job, a bit stiff at parts, and like you said sloppy, but other parts were well done. Personally I don't like your snares sound, but that's just my opinion, and does not affect your performance at all.
I'm not sure, me and my dad just sat down one day to tune the drums because they didn't sound to well. The result was pretty good, I agreed. We just got some tips from various videos on tuning snares. Just search. I think we tuned the bottom head a bit deeper, but I'm not sure.
Thanks for all your comments! It's a pleasure to upload videos to people like you. I will upload some new videos in the future, så be sure to check in some time. I'm not sure when, but there will be more ;)
hey there..my young collegue!! very good job!! it's not perfect yet, but it's gonna be soon!..many compliments even for great music that you play and listen !! keep on drumming !! bye
Hello fellow prog rock fan. Nice job on the drums, I can tell you played well. It just sounds a bit messy but that's either the camera's fault, the drum set's fault, or youtube's. Keep it up and look into some Yes music. My favorite band.
A very good job! I think you can become one of the best if you keep practicing. Your practicing material is excellent obviously. Work on those mistakes you do during in the first part that repeats over and over but I'm sure you can do better like you said. Maybe if you tried a little less complex and then build it up...heck I don't know what you're capable of hehe. I support you, 'couse we're the same age. Keep it up!
well done man, nice music from a great band

Hi!! What a treat to see you playing GG!! I´m a music teacher myself, and am quite tired of seeing some of my "parteners"
insisting on the fact that music should get its roots going back hundreds of years ago... WRONG....
We produce fine music nowadays...just have to look for it...
Thanks for being one of the few that keeps this up!!
Keep on going!!!!

Hooray for younger GG listeners. I'm 17 myself. You've gotta have some rhythm to play this stuff, metal's just boom-chuck really fast.
And your english is fine dude.
