this isn't the true ending, the true ending says super skull monsta WAS ruined. you have to beat him without the bubble (sideways rainbows).

Although you have completed it, if you had got the diamonds in the correct order - r.o.y.g.b.i.v on every single stage you would get 50M bonus points. my top score is 63M

@ 1:11 - The power of the diamonds changed the dinosaurs back into human beings. I guess they got transformed before they were imprisoned by the monster -- I have no idea what the game's backstory is.

I've always wondered what these bonus wings were for. Can anybody tell me about them?

They let you 'fly' (i.e. keep jumping when you're in the air). Comes in handy in a couple of the later levels where there are hardly any platforms, but I can never get the timing right. :)

thanks snookerfran.when i beat rainbow island on ps1.i mean i have all the diamonds on 7 islands.but i couldnt get to 3 final islands.i guess on playstation version there are only 7 islands and on arcade is 10 islands so ill play the arcade version to see the real ending.oh btw.i beat rainbow island on nes[nintendo entertainment system].on nes is pretty hard.what happens if your score goes over 9999999 on the arcade version?thanks.

Yeah, ps1 probably does have only 7. I recommend the mame (arcade) version anyway, if only because you can save!

My score did go over 9999999, and nothing else happened. I think the end thing's just badly translated: it means that the only way to get that high score is to get the diamonds/go into the secret boss room & pick up all the money bags. That or it's a bug.

No. If you get the diamond in order and you go to the door in the boss room, not get the diamond/go into the secret boss room, yes.

wow.after all this time.i played rainbow island on ps1.the thing is on ps1 version is u cant save at all.i got all diamonds.but what do i have to do to get to the final stage of the game and face the final boss bubble dragon (skel monstra)?i want the same ending as u.thanks.

You have to get the diamonds in the right order (red, orange, yellow etc.) - at least for the final level. Don't think it'll be easy without saving though: I had to save about fifty times to finish like that! :)

Just remembered - only the new version of the game has the final 3 islands. Not sure if the ps1 one is the classic game where it ends after 7.

@snookerfran Sorry for a late response, but the PS1 version is based off the Amiga version which only has 7 worlds, the original Rainbow Islands in arcades also had the extra 3 worlds, much like the Extra version.

Nope - they're similar, but these are diamonds in the colours of the rainbow. (Rainbow Islands came out before the first Sonic, btw.)
