If you take the outer two pieces of the three pieces that move the blade forward and back, and put them on the outside, they won't hit eachother and you can put it down farther.
It's a good, solid design, but the blade/aluminum whatever should NOT be aluminum. Aluminum is a fairly soft metal and is almost never used in blades. Stainless Steel is a better choice until you get past about 5-6 inches, as the length makes it brittle. The strongest choice would be carbon steel, although it would need regular greasing because of the possibility of rust. I'm not trying to critisize, just help improve the design for durability.
the top blade mount could have instead of 1 blade in the centre on top but 2 blades mounted on the sides for a kinda Preditor blade effect with some form of locking mechanism for a downward slash strictly for show not litterally for causing harm it could get some good comments
if you like the idea Email me and we could discuss other blue prints for example i am currently in process of making a shot gun that fires pen cartridges.
okay man,its mega cool, butt i was wondering about the design.if you were to make the pin smaller (ur lock mech) take out the midle bridge to get it more extended once u activate the blade/spike/knuckle duster or whatever contraption u wanna put on there, you could put the spring/s inside the body of your scorp blade.btw, how wide is that blade mechanism? in centimeters pls, inches confuse me,im from europe XD TIA I hope to get a reply from you,you can dig out my info and mail on SInza's webpage.
no link is description, but assume it is vex robotics d o t c o m? I guess this isn't at all an idea for the actual competition. It might have been ok last year if you could figure out how to make it launch footballs or something, but I don't actually think it would launch them very well because it seems like a lot of the force from it extending is from gravity.

It would be pretty cool, but the reloading thing wouldn't be usefull. If you can make that automatic too it'd be better :)

does it lock when its extended?
RUTHLESSACE 1 year ago
@RUTHLESSACE yeah kinda the angle of the stripes prevent it from moving back. so the only way to do that is manually
lethalnerdz 1 year ago
@RUTHLESSACE i would like to say yes but their is no locking mechanism. the angle dosnt allow it to get pulled back.
