  • This is one of the best movie's I've ever seen. Anyone with a dog should see it. this guy is sayin all this shit to piss everyone off, and it's called being a smartass. Yeah his stupid and this is dumb but I think that was the point. Now everyone who watched this go get the dvd.

  • You.Are.A.Fucking.Idiot.

Could you review a movie AFTER watching it?

    it's an excellent movie.

"I've never seen the movie, but I'mma write a review on it! Hur hur hurr"

It's a moving film, and you should TRY to watch a film to accurately review it.

Moron. And I say that as nice as possible. But you're simply a moron.

  • sigh. i did see it. and i can never get those 2 hours back.

  • I also want 2 hours of my life back

  • dude its the best movie i have seen in ages.

its sad everyone was crying and everyone was laughing.

its fucking awesome this guy has no heart

  • dont look into the movie so in depth..its senseless whining that doesn't help anyone trying to learn anything about the flick.

  • goodness.. either you've never had a pet die or you haven't seen very many films...

one of the worst films you've ever seen? what do you even base that on... there is literally nothing about it that can deem it one of the worst movies made in recent history or otherwise, try watching a Uwe Boll movie...

professional and enjoyable review nonetheless but your statement about one of the worst movies is a little silly, and that's a fact.

  • movies in 2008. I hope you reply and try to defend your inaccurate review of "one of the greatest" films of 2008.

Have another great year make terrible reviews ! :)

  • dude- you're killin' me ;)

it's a terrible film but i won't hold it against ya if ya like it - we can agree to disagree :)

  • like Owen Wilson and Jennifer Anniston, which is probably something that made you hate this film. I hope by me saying that, you do not think that you are smarter than everyone and we are all below you.

  • As others have previously stated since you are in this type of business you over analyze things in the movie that most people would not even observe. I find that most people in your position absolutely despise major hollywood actors

  • i think you're right re: seeing things that other people may not + i don't despise owen wilson or j. anniston - just think marley is a terrible flick :)

  • This review is terrible.

  • Ya know what? Marley and me was the best movie i've seen all year. yes thats just my oppinion but say a family is going to see this. Your report might just ruin the kids plans on going to see this. This movie has parts about the charachters and most of it is about marley. the part where your mutt brought you the phone, like a dumb dog like Marley would do that. Marley was the "discount puppy" not the "Im so smart so ill bring you a phone puppy" So watch my reveiw coming soon It will be the best

  • The rule of Opposition...???

  • THANK YOU!!! FIRST PERSON I HAVE MET THAT AGREES WITH ME!!! Five stars, wonderful job!

  • well i just saw the movie. i thought it was very cute, and touching. Nothing was so hugely bad in it, just little scenes that were in the book, but not in the film.

  • i respect your analyst on film...but i think you bashed this film way too hard. there are tons of movies that are worst than this one.

  • You are right of course.

  • Uhm...you sound cynical, angry at the world and jaded...Marley & Me was by far the most feel good film I've seen all year, now granted I don't have a black soul much like you...but even the most bitter of souls could appreciate the MESSAGE and purpose behind the film. Let me guess, you started laughing at the ending scene? Go watch an Al Paccino movie and claim it's worthy of every Oscar. Something tells me generic Scarface is your all time fav...

  • Hi Sunshinestar - I hear where you're saying - I just thought it was a badly made film - the scene with Kathleen Turner for example = what actually happens in that scene?

Kathleen turner refuses to train the dog. That's it. There's no wit, warmth, humor or insight in the scene. A waste of time.

As for my fav. films - this year = 'Waltzing with Bashir' and 'Happy Go Lucky' - and Scarface has great camerawork re: De Palma emulating Hitchcock - but c'mon it's a big slice of cheese! ;)

  • I apologize if my sentiments toward your sentiment of the movie came across harsh. It was meerly due to the fact that I am a huge animal lover and the MESSAGE behind the story (and especially book) hits close to home. I think you come from a film background (where you may analyze every bit that the rest of us overlook)and I tend to always seek the message behidn a story. Anyhow, you were entitled to your critique and I thank you for sharing it and being very civil to those of us who enjoyed M&M.

  • Ahh, Jett. Still makin' friends on the interwubs. Good for you! Nora FTW!

  • If it was so bad then why did it break the record for most money earned on christmas?!

47 mill on the 1st 3 days...seems like the normal movie lover loves this movie!

  • Hey Stubbsforu it goes without saying that ticket sales are no guarantee of quality; 'Mummy 3' made a vast amount of cash and yet is unwatchable - M & M did well by current standards due to the popularity of the book and a wildly disingenuous marketing plan for the film which sold the product as a lovable holiday movie for the whole family, when in fact it's a deeply shallow and depressing portrait of a spoiled narcissist writer, who oddly enough, has nothing of any originality or import to say.

  • because most people who watched it did not expect such a bad ending... check the DVD's- they will not sell.

  • I loved the movie. Once again, Youtube and the internet prove that any asshole can express your lame opion.

    FU!!!!

  • hey there ladywalker68 - sorry to hear you think i'm an asshole due to the fact that we don't like the same movie -

i truly believe that Marley and Me is not just a bad film, in an objective sense, but a truly terrible piece of hack work that at it's worst propagates a hateful message of narcissism and anti-empathy -

i mean - how does anybody waste Kathleen Turner like this - and that scene in 'Oirland' - look sheep blocking the road! = an embarrassment

  • I LOVED this movie and I don't agree with anything you just said. Except that movie was actually called Marley and Me! This movie was about love. Love for your family, your pet, your career, and yourself. Even when you feel overwhelmed by how your life is going, or where it's headed, you have to share your love. Btw, you sound like an asshole!

  • hi ctdevon06 I get the feeling you've read the book, and your comments center on that and not the movie re: your feeling is that the subject matter is about love. love is the last thing this film is about -

the film centers around a selfish narcissist who literally spends the duration of the picture whining about his wonderful life - the film fails utterly because it is not aware that the main character is the vain, shallow character that he is, hence the film itself is vain and shallow.

  • Im going to have to agree with you as much as I hate to. I LOVED the book...and only enjoyed the movie because I read the book..had you not read the book you wouldnt have even realized Marley existed in this film. Sooooooooo much more could have been done in an hour and a half. The child actors were horrid..not at all believeable..I think my kids could have acted in this movie as well as they did. This is why I refuse to go watch Twilight..the books are too awesome to ruin with a movie..ty

  • Yes, the child actors were terrible - but i didn't feel right in mentioning that as they're just kids = why should they be any good?

  • dude your reviews suck cock! the movie was beast and sad and funny all good stuff go fuck yourself you heartless fuck is there any movie you DO like douchebag?

  • Hi Denis543, thank you for your thoughtful and insightful critique of my Marley and Me review.

To answer your question, yes, though I am, rightly I would say, critical of many films there are many I enjoyed this year - for a start I'd recommend Waltzing with Bashir, Man on Wire and for old-fashioned Casablanca type fun: Australia.

  • Okay, the movie wasn't all about Marley. But, Marley had an impact on the family. The author was actually going to write the book JUST about Marley, but realized it wasn't possible without the story of the rest of his family as well. And for the colic scene, there's actually many parts of the dogs like and from the book that wasn't in the movie. MANY scenes. But, if they done all the scenes, the movies would've been a lot longer.

But, really, there's so many more movies worse then this!

  • i hear ya ilikenintendo2005 -if i had read the book beforehand am sure would have had a different experience at the movie - if you've read the book then the mind will find in 'all the blanks' as it were - but without having read the book the impact of the 'character' marley was minimal - again the colic scene is a great example - we don't really see how the dog impacts the family - we only hear about it - imagine 'Die Hard' as 2 hours of McClane talking about Nakatomi - without seeing anything.

  • I completely agreed with everything you said. It was nothing but a tear-jerker, and it really wasn't that funny. The trailer for the movie was funnier. I kept wondering why this guy kept bitching about his perfect life. And it was like the death scene for the dog lasted 30 minutes.

  • yes, the constant bitching about his life, as he lives with his loving wife, 3 kids a dog and a pool - and is then offered 'double his salary' - moves into a mansion apparently surrounded by acres of woodland...sigh.

  • well i havent been to the movies in about a year because all of the story lines were shit. so my family wanted to see a movie and my mom chose this. i happened to really like this movie. 1 because i have a tight relationship with my pet. and secondly i love the actors in this film. Im sorry but im going to disagree with your review but it is your opinion and i cant take that away from you. i believe there was hundreds of movies worse then this and you went to far saying that. keep doing reviews.

  • You're right of course Jrple797 - there are hundreds of movies worse than this -

am glad ya liked the movie - we'll just have to agree to disagree. :)

  • I totally disagree with you. Although the film is nothing special, it connects to people on an emotional level. Why else would people be so touched as to cry at the end if the film didn't capture them.

  • Am sure some people loved it - I disagree - god bless the internet.

  • what the fuck is your problem i love this movie bastard if you have an opinion keep it to yourself

  • You're so right scruffy320 - what was i thinking in making you watch the review? - i should know better than to use my powers in that way.

  • ur trying to say marley didnt make a diffrence in the movie? did u even watch it? i dont think so! marley made the fucking movie!

  • you're so right TheCardTrader - Marley was an intricate part of the '10-minute sonogram of the dead child in Jennifer Aniston's womb' scene.

  • hey stfu dumass. this was no waste of time but yea your review was a waste of time.. well the at least the two minutes i unfortunately saw of it.. if this movie was no good without the dog then ur no good without youtube..

  • you misunderstand - the movie was not 'no good without the dog' - it was no good period.

which means that by your logic i guess i'm no good either with or without youtube...

oh well, guess it's time to move to vimeo.

  • super nova is the worst movie of all time this movie was good i haven't read the book yet but plan to buy it soon and for the first time i cried in a theatre and there were droves of people crying so thats saying something and im a guy lol it was good two thumbs up

  • I cried too.

In intense pain at what has to be not just the worst film of the year, but one of the worst films of any year.

  • you should probably find a heart this is a film about how a dog impacts a families life in a real family the dog isn't the center of the family and a dog doesn't become super dog and save lives in the average family a dog is just there to give love and to be loved so i dont know what in the world kind of movie you wanted to see but marley & me is a real film with real characters and for one find it a relief that no one is perfect and no one's wearing a cape

  • What you're saying is right theoretically:

unfortunately Marley and Me is not that film; it's 2 hours of excruciating prattle about bland people with an inflated sense of self-importance

+ the actual filmmaking is poor, witness the 'he sat with the baby while he had colic scene' - we DON'T ACTUALLY SEE THIS - Wilson just tells it the vet while Marley is being put down, we don't actually see anything re: how M. is part of the family and the b******t visit to 'Oirland' scene, yikes.

  • NONE OF WHAT YOU SAID MADE SENCE

  • yours is my favorite YouTube comment of all time

  • yeah you jerk it looks like a good movie

  • looks can be deceiving - the film is a travesty.

  • meanie

  • I know. I feel I've got to be more positive - and I don't want to upset folks who are fans of the book - it's just that it's a terrible film - oh well, maybe Marely and Me fans will enjoy it! :)

  • yes, well i loved the book. i have not seen the movie yet, but will respond back when i have. maybe fans of the book will appreciate the movie more than others.

  • am curious to see how fans of the book feel = the problem, as i mention in the video is how the film is marketed = it's marketed as a family film, (with wacky hi-jinks ala Beethoven), and it's not that at all -

it's the story of a self-centered man and his boring family - i say boring because the film seems to thing they're boring - the movie doesn't have anything to say about these people or their lives and as for Marley = he remains a mystery.

  • i bet u never saw it.

  • oh but i did - and i wish i could get those 2 hours of my life back.

    but i can't.

i'm stuck with the memory of this film for the rest of life.

  • That was fucking hilarious! best laugh I've had all day. You've earned a new fan today.

  • Thank you...I was ROTFLMAO....

  • At the beginning he said he wasn't going to see it. So did he???????

  • HI bobbydoorknocker - I think you misunderstood - it's not a film that my co-host is going to see = hence this review. And yep I saw it a couple of weeks ago and am afraid it really is a terrible, terrible film.

  • At the beginning you said that you and 'Gareth'?? were not gonna have a chance to see it before the holidays.

  • Yes Gareth and I - meaning that I saw an advance screening in Nashville - but Gareth was not going to be able to see it before it was released = hence we couldn't review it together (the two of us both normally see the films as we often argue/disagree etc. ;)

so yep I have seen it and thought it was awful - though hopefully because you love the book you'll have a better time at it than I did! :)

    bst

    jt.

  • Read the book and then make a review you asshole! That book was one of the best and most touching books i have ever read! Read the damn book and read it again until you learn the lesson!

  • hi chiodoslanakila thanks for watching the vid.

It's a review of the movie, not the book. My suggestion is that we discuss after you see the movie. I know the book is popular,(and I make reference in the review to the person behind me who loved the book - and who agreed with me, by the way, about the film).

Again I invite you to respond after you see the film - I'll be reading out your mail on our show and I invite you to call in to have a discussion once you've seen the picture -

    best

    Jett

  • just cuz u say it doesnt mean its a fact

  • Wicked. Lovin your stuff as always man.

  • OMGGGG <3 <3 <3 <3!!!...i had this whole comment i was going to leave and then you cut to nora and i forgot what i was going to say...omggg...but yes, once again a movie i will avoid (tho i planned on avoiding anyway cuz i thought it was a 'chick flick')
