Had two rough collies and they were the best dogs i've ever had :) The only issue with them is that when they get older their eyesight starts to go :(
@horsegurl1212 Don't get border collie unless you have awful lot of time to spend with this dog, have specific job in daily basis and have big house with space for this dog to run around. While these dogs are very intelligent they are also one of the top dogs in rescue. Because people really don't understand the character of this dog, leave it alone daily basis and so on... i volunteer to rescue here in santa clara country, ca and I see this way too often. Good Luck
@horsegurl1212 I prefer Rough Collies (though Border Collies are nice, as well). We had a Rough Collie when I was growing up; she gave our family 13 wonderful years, and I have yet to find a comparable dog. I have found Rough Collies to be very sweet, mild-mannered, and eager to please. Ours was very sensitive, loyal, and intelligent; a great family dog!
Thanks for uploading this, my collie was one of the dogs filmed for this show. (She's the smooth sable and white, shown laying down in the grass with the pink leash. :)
Thank you for posting this! I can't believe it's not on the AnimalPlantetTV channel!? And...ps, if anyone wants to see a cute collie check out my 2 videos :)
@CookieCollie haa what? it isnt a "rare breed" and has nothing to do with the video. i dont know why people try to brag up their dogs saying how rare it is when it is a mutt...thats where designer dogs come from and they come from puppy mills which i DONT support.
zomg i love collies so much! :D im getting one as soon as i can. to anyone that owns one, do they have problems with trying to herd other pets like cats?
@iyasis i used to have one and no, they don't do stuff like that. sometimes you ca kinda tell when their herding instinct comes into play, but its not like hardcaore or anything. :P it's fine
I used to have a german sharpest x border collie she was naughty but someone broke in and she defended my room and that man got arrested get one for a pet also
@MilosSrbin123 Chewing on furniture should be discouraged strongly when teething. Correct her and provide something else for her to teeth on, rawhide for example. Since collies are herding dogs, many have high energy and can be destructive in the house when they're older if the behavior isn't corrected. But they're extremely intelligent dogs and will understand the correction very quickly.
Rough collies are the most beautiful dog on earth! They are such regal, proud, loyal, and intelligent dogs. Such debonair! A bit stubborn when they're young but with proper training can be the most amazing pet anyone will have the honor owning! They are huggers! They will jump up on people to hug them! They are so loving and affectionate. My collie will press his head right where my heart is when I'm crying or upset. He'll do it if he's sad too. It's our way of hurting together.
i had a collie for 9 years, and recently lost him to cancer. Ceasar was the most wonderful dog you could have ever asked for. BETTER than any golden retriever. He was truly loving loyal and caring. I would recommend this dog to anyone who wants a loyal companion, who is willing to take care of that gorgeous coat.
i have a sheltie he is 13 now and still extremely good health,
however there is not much information on there link to collie's if you saw a sheltie there is no difference in there genetics, attributes even the exact same coat colours.
the sheltie is a mistery how it is a completely different bread of dog however apart from size there is no difference ! amazing how over the years they have managed to stay seperete breads and not interbread into one dog ...
I had a collie for 11 years who just passed a few months ago and he was such a great dog. extremely intelligent and very loving. this breed is the best!
