Bamboo clumpers vs. runners learn the difference

I wanna grow clumpers so I can let them get tall, then chopem down with my sword! =D

Some running bamboos will grow as clumpers in my area since the growing season isn't long enough for rhizomes to spread.

Actually what causes running bamboo are runners which are horizontal stems. The roots aren't responsible for the formation of new bamboo.

I use the words roots and rhizomes interchangably to get my point across. I am not a scientist, just trying to teach people the difference between clumping and running. I also say canes instead of culms, when refering to live growing bamboo. Same thing, just getting my point across. thanks
