faruqi fails to explain exactly how homosexuality ruins civilization. it seems like this is a mantra that if u repeat it over and over people will believe it, or maybe he just thinks it's self evident, but not once did he provide empirical or scientific or statistical basis for this. ALL of the societies that allow gay marriage are, as a rule, governed by the rule of law, they're orderly and democratic and civilized freedom-loving societies.

it's incredible that it took india this long to repeal criminalization of homosexuality when india is supposed to be the largest secular democracy on earth. religions are always a burden in society and they impede the flourishing of democratic values.

Morality and ethics cant be dictated by one religion in a secular country like India. Let me ask you this - Muslims marry among cousins, I mean kids of brothers marry(not just sisters and brothers). In hinduism they are considered siblings. Now can we make a law that cousins can marry or cannot marry?.

A secular constitution advocates separation of church and state...period. Morality and ethics are subjective, not objective. What's objectionable to you is not for someone else. That said, your personal and private life doesn't fall under governance of the law, unless you're maiming and killing someone.

Religion is not democracy. Laws should bear the interests of people in mind, not religious prejudices. India is not a theocratic nation; everyone should remember that. Mr Faruiqi in the panel forgets decriminalization of 377 does'nt mean yes to obscenity! The very thought is ridiculous! Nobody likes sexual harassment or the bias of what is natural and not natural. Religion should not sneek into the bedsheets of people, right? Unless of course it has nothing better to offer or do! Right people?

Faruqi is an idiot, as are most who bring illogical arguments against gay rights, regardless of what religion they belong to. The constitution that provides equal rights for all is paramount over any religious decree in a secular state. These guys are bound to lose if they follow the letter of the law. The only way they can stop the decriminalizing is by causing mayhem, and I don't doubt for a moment that they will resort to that.
