The guy with the glasses says he is not bringing religion into it and yet before that statement he was giving references to the koran...filthy lying religionists, they ought to suffer in hell for their ways of lying like that!!
also Rumi, the greatest muslim poet and mystic of all time, was gay, and it's still widely known that his lover was shams e tabriz - if we take the blanket statement that gays are obscene at face value, then Rumi was obscene
faruqi fails to explain exactly how homosexuality ruins civilization. it seems like this is a mantra that if u repeat it over and over people will believe it, or maybe he just thinks it's self evident, but not once did he provide empirical or scientific or statistical basis for this. ALL of the societies that allow gay marriage are, as a rule, governed by the rule of law, they're orderly and democratic and civilized freedom-loving societies.
it's incredible that it took india this long to repeal criminalization of homosexuality when india is supposed to be the largest secular democracy on earth. religions are always a burden in society and they impede the flourishing of democratic values.
Father Emanual...probably had such tendencies and came back to normal behaviour! God bless you father! Keep persecuting innocent gay people! make them criminals for just being in love!
I agree with u SYLFan2008 completely. Dr Faruqi had sometime a bad experience in the past which have left some bitter memories. LoL....and just to mention India is not an islamic nation by code conduct and values nor Hindu..its a multireliginal country which shud now wake up and accept the winds of change!
All The Evangelized Indians too fit perfectly into Fred Phelp's WestBoro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas.
And of what Morality are Religious lowlives talking?
when a 54 year old man can can have sex with a 9 year old girl is NOT Only Moral but pious as well.
Father pimping his daughters to the whole city and then having sex with his daughters is God's will and Pious, but, two consulting Adults having Sex OF Same SEX in Private is UnEthical and Immoral.
It is time that we get back to Hindu law as the uniform civil and criminal code of the nation of Hindusthan.
Vyavahara is a matter justiciable before a court of law. The samskara of marriage governed by the sanctity and spirituality of motherhood and fatherhood are NOT justiciable in a court of law.
Ethics and morality are relative terms and cant be determined by a majority. What is moral for me could be immoral for you... where do we agree? It is scientifically proven that homosexuality is not a disease or a disorder, just a difference. We should all live and let live and treat everyone as equal.
Morality and ethics cant be dictated by one religion in a secular country like India. Let me ask you this - Muslims marry among cousins, I mean kids of brothers marry(not just sisters and brothers). In hinduism they are considered siblings. Now can we make a law that cousins can marry or cannot marry?.
A secular constitution advocates separation of church and state...period. Morality and ethics are subjective, not objective. What's objectionable to you is not for someone else. That said, your personal and private life doesn't fall under governance of the law, unless you're maiming and killing someone.
Also answer me here - 200 years back we couldnt imagine a women remarrying other man if her husband is dead. We burnt her alive (Sati). And MANU script claims that is the righteous behavior for a widow.People of that era believed that is morality and that is ethical. Do you think so?
Religion is not democracy. Laws should bear the interests of people in mind, not religious prejudices. India is not a theocratic nation; everyone should remember that. Mr Faruiqi in the panel forgets decriminalization of 377 does'nt mean yes to obscenity! The very thought is ridiculous! Nobody likes sexual harassment or the bias of what is natural and not natural. Religion should not sneek into the bedsheets of people, right? Unless of course it has nothing better to offer or do! Right people?
Faruqi is an idiot, as are most who bring illogical arguments against gay rights, regardless of what religion they belong to. The constitution that provides equal rights for all is paramount over any religious decree in a secular state. These guys are bound to lose if they follow the letter of the law. The only way they can stop the decriminalizing is by causing mayhem, and I don't doubt for a moment that they will resort to that.
what ruin the society are war, unsanitary condition of our environment, poverty in india.
