@OhSeamus The smile is a mask, hence how he has to put on a mask every day. As the day progresses, however, things don't go his way. The mask begins to falter, and when the day is done, he is revealed to be not as happy as he pretends to be. The "mask" is destroyed as his day goes on. The next morning starts with another fake smile...
