In Japan you'll find there generally aren't fierce factions as they exist abroad. At least not across the board as there seems to be elsewhere. Sure, you've got the few outspoken individuals but it's significantly more rare to find people that outright 'refuse' to watch a series because they have a favorite 'other series'.
