I just uploaded a slideshow video of British cars from the auto repair shop that I work at, and I used the soundtrack from the Gran Turismo 1 intro. I even mimicked the part where it has the makes of cars flashing quickly, and the screen shatter effect after that. A few cars to name in there are a Aston Martin, Rolls Royce, and Bentley!

I remember when I was like 7 years old, watching my dad play this, always racing in career mode and perfecting the tuning setups. then when I would play i would get the Castrol Supra GT and just do time trial mode on that SS Route 11 haha.

I now have the same game copy from years ago , and I believe this game is the reason I fell in love with cars and know so many.

era um jogo muito otimo,

tinha akelas paradas de tirar carteira, que animava muito o jogo. mas o que eu mais gostava era a realidade com que os carros era controlados, e a corridas de "Endurance Race" que durava em media 1 a 1 hora e meia.

This game made me become interested in racing when i was younger. No other Gran Turismo has this atmosphere. This game was a revolution and to this day, i still think it's the best racing game ever made.

This intro was and still is fantastic! The game's physics and graphics were ahead of its time! Its a shame that they didn't keep up with improving the game after this as all they have done is add more cars but have not done as well as Forza now. This will still remain as the groundbreaking game for Simulation Realism and I'm glad it was made, it was fantastic!! Still fun to play and still hoping for a big improvement for whenever they start working on Gran Turismo 6! Polyphony Digital,go for it!

I really really liked the "Not quite real" race mod liveries. Polyphony didn't have much clout then so their racing liveries just had the car manufacturer replacing the usual sponsor.

@mikecustoms same, i was a bit too young for gt1 though, i got gt3 when i was 5 and man, i would play it everyday and on sundays i would watch f1, touring cars ,rallying and from that day i got gt3 i wanted to be a racing driver so badly, i soon went karting for my freinds birthday party and believe it or not, the track owner said i have an extremely close driving style to ayrton senna, he asked me if i wanted to enter karting championships but unfortunatly my parents are poor and couldnt afford

I consider myself a bit of a Forza fanboy these days but after all these years I still consider this to be the best racing game intro of all time (still waiting to see forza 4 though) and this game as one of the most important racing games ever. GT1 changed everything for racing games and it was the game that made me really appreciate cars and motor sports. Kinda makes me think how the same studio produced GT5... =/ I'm not saying forza is better... Just saying that GT5 is a disappointment...

Haha this game is so legendary I couldn't get off of this game even at 3 years old lol, I would stay on this game until like 3 A.M and to this day I still stay on that long, these r 1 of the few games from the 90's that r still popular today

do you realise how lucky e are? if like me you started here..... (my early teens) playing this game.... it opened the door to all the racing simulators.

this game was sorry i STILL is the mile stone.

and we can all directly compare all the racing sims that came out after to this one game.

do yourself a favout though. do not PLAY it again... nothing worse than ruining your memories of a classic by playing it again 4 years after.... after playing modern racing games..

it will ruin the memory.
