Even if this is true, 2 million barrels a day wouldn't make a dent in our use which is roughly 20 million a day. Also, since oil is a international traded commodity BP would sell the oil to the highest bidder not just give it to America. One thing here you should know you have to vent several wells to see how big a oil field is. You burn off so much or recover it then you remeasure preasure but I don't see how this can be done from 1 test unless they let it burn for days and measured everything going out. Lets say you have a new field and the preasure is 100,000 lbs and you burn or recover 1,000,000 Barrels you remeasure preasure at 98,000 lbs you now have a idea how large the field is.

uhm.. I'll go with alternative energy. Algae is a better biodiesel in my opinion. It doesn't require extra fuel for harvesting like crop grown biodesels. Algae is definitely not the only answer though. We also need to build mass transportation systems all across the country. It's kind of disgusting what a pathetic public transportation system a major city like LA has for example. The US consumes 30 trillion cuft of natural gas per year. The 200 year supply that Williams claims exists in AK would be 6 quadrillion cubic feet of natural gas. This figure is equal to the known reserves of natural gas for all of planet Earth.

I don't think Mexicans use oil. They use gasoline in their cars. The main reason their gasoline is cheaper is that they subsidize it. I.E., the government buys gasoline at market prices, but sells it to the public at below market prices to keep its citizens happy. Search google for "Mexico gasoline subsidy". He is not telling the truth. The truth is that control is a figment, oil is not the answer, and polluting the planet with carbon based fuels is simply irresponsible and thus morally wrong. His intention may be "good" but he is misrepresenting important facts to promote his books. No matter how much oil, and no matter how much "control", all efforts by men, i.e. all efforts, will either improve the living conditions on this planet for future generations or degrade the living conditions.

Anyone else ever wonder why they are on reserve? Say there is an impending collapse of the modern world due to an oil shortage. You will have a complete breakdown and society and services as we know it. People will die from starvation, disease, guerilla warfare, etc. Billions will die off. Prudhoe Bay and the North Slope was the last major discovery of oil in the U.S. The North Slope and Prudhoe Bay is open to the oil companies to drill. They have been drilling and producing there since the early seventies. ANWR is not the North Slope. Look at a map different places. The oil from the North Slope reached its peak in the late 80s producing 3 million barrels a day through the Alaskan pipeline. The Alaskan Pipline runs to Valdez where they dump the oil into tankers. Remeber Valdez.

Even if this is true, 2 million barrels a day wouldn't make a dent in our use which is roughly 20 million a day. Also, since oil is a international traded commodity BP would sell the oil to the highest bidder not just give it to America. I don't know everything about oil, but I know enough to know when I am hearing a bunch of BS. This guy like to be on the Alex Jones show, so go figure.

One thing here you should know you have to vent several wells to see how big a oil field is. You burn off so much or recover it then you remeasure preasure but I don't see how this can be done from 1 test unless they let it burn for days and measured everything going out. Lets say you have a new field and the preasure is 100,000 lbs and you burn or recover 1,000,000 Barrels you remeasure preasure at 98,000 lbs you now have a idea how large the field is.

Here is the reason I don't believe Mr. Williams Alaska oil claim.
The USA has 1.5 Trillion barrels of known oil shale in Utah, Colorado and Wyoming. The government has never tried to hide this fact. Envvironmentalists and costs are the main reasons the oil shale has not been processed yet. But it is there.
I cannot think of a reason why the govt. would hide oil in Alaska.

I'm not gonna believe this guy just because he's a baptist minister. DO THE FUCKING MATH. Our rate of consumption is growing EXPONENTIALLY. Even if we DID discover the largest pool of oil in North America, it won't last long due to the EXPONENTIAL GROWTH IN CONSUMPTION. Up until the '70's we had a 7% growth rate in consumption every year. This means that every decade leading up to the 70's we used approximately more oil than we had used in the history of oil before that decade.

uhm.. I'll go with alternative energy. Algae is a better biodiesel in my opinion. It doesn't require extra fuel for harvesting like crop grown biodesels. Also, harvesting the sun's energy, as well as thermal energy from the Earth's core, and wind energy are great alternatives. It's times like these I just wish I were an inventor. Damn education system!

Algae is definitely not the only answer though. We also need to build mass transportation systems all across the country. It's kind of disgusting what a pathetic public transportation system a major city like LA has for example. But I think what we really need is fast efficient electric powered public/private transportation which reaches all across the country (including to major agriculture land).

How about people obtain a copy of the book and read it before coming to any conclusions. The funny thing is, many people here are dismissing his allegations and yet, they have never even been to Alaska. Google Bilderberg 2008 details, and you will see the elite are pushing for $200 a barrel. They can't make this happen without the peak oil myth and restricting access to untapped reserves like the ones in Alaska.

the US consumes 20M barrels of oil per DAY. If his claims of a 200 year supply in AK were true, that would necessitate 1.5 trillion barrels of reserves. That number exceeds the known reserves on the whole planet (1.36 Trillion barrels).
The US consumes 30 trillion cuft of natural gas per year. The 200 year supply that Williams claims exists in AK would be 6 quadrillion cubic feet of natural gas. This figure is equal to the known reserves of natural gas for all of planet Earth.

Known is the operative word. Furthermore, Alaska is the only reasonable place other than Russia to find that much oil. There is no doubt in my head that supply and demand is working by string of some Gipetto. Mexicans pay less than half of what we pay in oil...that is my question...how?

I don't think Mexicans use oil. They use gasoline in their cars. The main reason their gasoline is cheaper is that they subsidize it. I.E., the government buys gasoline at market prices, but sells it to the public at below market prices to keep its citizens happy. Search google for "Mexico gasoline subsidy". Article on chron-dot-com is pretty good.

Hemp is the solution to oil and pollution. But as long as the greedy oil tycoons are in charge we'll never see hemp in this country. It was wrongly tied to marijuana because it comes from the same plant, except hemp is the version you cannot get high off of and can make all kinds of things with it including bio deisel and ethanol, it is illegal in this country. That needs to change!

No it isn't. Hemp is not illegal in this country. I would know, I've sold it for years legally, with a license. It's impossible to smoke it and get high off of it, yet, but no it isn't illegal.
You can get a license to create it if you'd like. Call your local court house, ask them about it.

Mexico uses Petrolium (oil) as much as anyone else.
We get Gasoline from Petroleum and also natural gases from the Petroleum wells.
Petroleum is also the raw material for many chemical products, including pharmaceuticals, solvents, fertilizers, pesticides, and plastics.
And guess what, Mexico produces and uses all the things i listed above.
Oh and they get cheap gas because they don't buy it from other countries, they use their own.
The USA is too busy wasting everyone else's first.

He is not telling the truth. The truth is that control is a figment, oil is not the answer, and polluting the planet with carbon based fuels is simply irresponsible and thus morally wrong. His intention may be "good" but he is misrepresenting important facts to promote his books. No matter how much oil, and no matter how much "control", all efforts by men, i.e. all efforts, will either improve the living conditions on this planet for future generations or degrade the living conditions.

Poor guy. A Baptist minister who's never gained a flock. Those long winters in Alaska will make just about anyone crazy. Fortunately, he'll never live long enough to see petroleum blacken the earth and sky and seas. Obviously the man is not a prophet or he'd be giving surmons on renewable energy and reducing waste and teaching people to live and work simply and prosperously. That would be a better use for this "missionary".

trouble is there is definite aspects of truth to his story. like the large reserves in north slope; although they are supposed to be "nonviable". also the obvious problem with executives letting an outsider in on privledged info. however, he was a missionary and it was the seventies. it is possible he may have been given the very access he claims. He certainly believes what he is saying.

And maybe other countries are running out of oil. But rich people are always concerned about their legacy, offspring, and wealth. Of course, they are becoming even more wealthy now. I believe the hoarding of this natural resource is more about self-preservation than money. These people may be thinking long-term. Who wants to be in....

Anyone else ever wonder why they are on reserve? Say there is an impending collapse of the modern world due to an oil shortage. You will have a complete breakdown and society and services as we know it. People will die from starvation, disease, guerilla warfare, etc. Billions will die off. This would be a form of population control. Those with immense wealth and power who control access to resources will live on. They will also have access to this "stockpile" of oil and thrive in a new world....

Prudhoe Bay and the North Slope was the last major discovery of oil in the U.S. The North Slope and Prudhoe Bay is open to the oil companies to drill. They have been drilling and producing there since the early seventies. ANWR is not the North Slope. Look at a map different places. The oil from the North Slope reached its peak in the late 80s producing 3 million barrels a day through the Alaskan pipeline. The Alaskan Pipline runs to Valdez where they dump the oil into tankers. Remeber Valdez.
