The last really good US sitcom was Seinfeld...the BBC was always good but its hard to see it and when you catch an episode its older...which is a good thing bc of excessive pc.
As I get older I am beginning to realize the BBC shows are better written and funnier than what is passing as humor on US TV. As Time Goes By and Old Guys are great examples.
@CoachCaputa I think British Comedy is declining as years go on. I'm not a racist but i think political correctness has gone too far. The comedy we got from love thy neighbour will never be generated. The only decent comedy ive seen in the past few years would be Mrs Browns Boys
Are you serious? BBC TV shows are very good but they can't hold a candle to the US shows. "Two and a Half Men", " Big Bang Theory" just to mention two....let's not forget Archie Bunker from "All in the Family"....
"Law and Order", 'Modern Family". There are too too many to mention. Nothing like the United States!!!!!!!!!!!
This is hilarious! I was a fan of Clive Swifts due to Keeping Up Appearances, but this is great stuff!!! These 2 'old guys' were cast perfectly for each other.
I wonder if someone here knows where I can find a song that both of them (Roger and Clive) sing together, that has no words but just sounds like "ta ra ta ta ta ta" and is surely from this series, because I've heard it in a promo of this show. Please, I would be very grateful if someone here could help me find it. Thnx.
@TheJediCharles You know what, you're right, as soon as you created that hilarious idiom about 'canned whining' I realised that no, in fact this isn't the same contrived piece of shit that the BBC will throw at us until we all nod in unison and rot infront of our telivision, no, you were right, this is a picture perfect sitcom that has amazing underlying messages about race, culture and politics, how peculiar of me to have a perfectly valid opinion with valid rationale for saying it
...or you could just provide for us an example of what IS funny a funny TV show, to give your perfectly valid opinion a bit of perspective instead of remain the empty drive-by pap it is now?
You figured what? that I wouldn't answer you because I don't spend every waking hour on youtube? pfft. I'll still give you an answer to your previous enquiry regardless of your impatience, Try such programmes as 'How not to live your life' 'Peep Show' or if you'd prefer to go back, the Black Adder series, or 'Spitting Image'
Y'know, intelligent, original, thought driven programmes, instead of run of the mill drivel like this.
I never accused you of being available every waking hour on YouTube. I took the moment to see in your recent activity that you had visited since my request that you provide an example, which indicates you blew me off.
That aside, I haven’t seen any of your examples except Black Adder, and I agree, that is very funny, an all-round superior program that is obviously directed at a more specific demographic than this show. Simpler humor need not equal stupider humor. It’s a light popcorn show. Some parts are hilarious. “He’s two men, Roy. I can’t compete with two men. I’ve lost her.” “You can’t loose something that was never yours. You can’t loose my hair.” That’s funny stuff.
We'll have to agree to disagree on this, I just find the programme to monotonous for my taste, as though the BBC just had a half hour to spare in the 7:30 slot and decided to throw this in due to lack of better alternatives
Let me ask you this, do you like these two actors in other TV roles? For example, were you a fan of Keeping up Appearances or Only Fools and Horses or The Vicar of Dibley and note enjoying the roles they played there respectively?
I watch the show on PBS.....It is one of the funnest things I have seen on TV in years! My daughter and I were crying we were laughing so hard....they are so endearing! Classic is RIGHT! I hope we have years to some with them.... : )
I couldnt help but notice: *The Old Guys* actors cLIVE WALTER Swift (b. 1936) & Roger Lloyd Pack (b. 1944) have birthdays one day apart: Feb. 9th & 8th respectively. That cLIVE Swift was married to novelist Dame MARGARET dRABBLE holROYd from 1960-75 & Roger Lloyd Pack married J'ehane MarkHAM (2000present); and SHEILA Ball (divorced) links nicely with recurring *PALMetto Stench* themes, as well as actor & character names in *The Vicar of Dibley*, which Lloyd Park also starred in as Owen Newitt

There needs to be an American version of this show!!!

@Pookatube why, for the love of God, would you want an American version? So it could be ruined?

@rtt470 LOL Yes it's true, our American versions fail horribly--but imitation only means we think the idea is great :D

This is not funny, and no amount of canned laughter after each sentence will convince me otherwise
