  • Will the shrimps get tangled in the weed ?

  • Can you eat those shrimp?

  • Great video! Can you tell me what substrate you use please? :)

  • @archiepops Honestly there is to much detail to answer this question here and youtube won't let me post a link of where you can get this detailed information I've typed up so if you or anyone you know would like to get the link to this, just PM me direct. I'll be happy to give you the best substrate to use for the healthiest and best looking shrimp you'll ever hope to have. Thanks - Mike at Oceanpro Aquatics Inc.

  • beautiful system. But I grow fish for food. Google "grow fish intensively" and you will find a guide to build an automatic duckweed feeder.

  • @bstal247 It should. I found that on a 10 gallon tank, a 36w T5 hang on lamp works the best. That's exactly whats on the tank in this video. I tried a bit stronger in a 300 gallon CRS tank I have and it killed off all the duckweed.

  • @bstal247 Duckweed is a pretty fast grower. I'd say it would double its mass every month or two depending upon your setup and lights. Just remember it really doesn't do good under strong lights and will go white on you so keep the lights fairly low and use pink plant lights, full spectrum lights as well as the white. Actinic has no use in a freshwater plant tank.

  • @OceanproAquatics Thats not Duckweed, Lemna Minor. The roots are way too long and the shape is wrong. What you have is either Azolla or Water Meal. Duckweed can easily double its biomass in 48 hours.

  • have you ever tried tying duckweed to a rock like riccia, let me know if you have a go - thanks

  • @oscardoobidoo No, I havn't. I don't see why not though. It has accidentaly attatched to large strings of hair algae I get which are completely submerged and it doesn't die off if not floating.

  • what type of filter did you use and how much did you pay for your crs?

  • @mrperryguitar This is a small 10g tank with sponge filter only. However I have over 1,000 gallons dedicated to breeding the CRS and CBS. Sponge filters are the best but I also use under gravel filters with thick 5" sand beds and fine sand so the babies can't get pulled down attatched to a Magnum 350 Deluxe w/ dual bio-wheels on my 300g and other 200g community tanks.

  • @mrperryguitar I missed your last question. It varies what I pay but I only purchase SS or better quality shrimp from a number of breeders here in the USA and overseas so the price varies. I get real good deals because of how much I purchase but CRS depending upon quality but if your asking how much could the general public get them for it would be around $4 for lower grade C, B, A and just goes up. I've seen them on ebay for as high as $2,500 each for high grade Mosura's.

  • @mrperryguitar I import from all over. Here in the USA, Thailand, Japan, all over to make sure our blood lines stay strong. I'll pay different prices for CRS depending upon size and grade which could go as little as a couple dollars to a couple hundred dollars each for very high end SSS or SSSS Royal Whites.

  • There's no doubt how much CRS love Duckweed!
