lol you'll need a white dove for that! I think they might even use like a homing dove cause I think they need to fly back to their cage for some tricks not sure but good luck with the magic I love to watch!
I remember that, when I was young, my grandfather raised many myna, he never put the birds into cage. the birds like stand on his shoulders or seized on his fingles. it's fo funny.
"I do know that once a bird has been touched by a human, the mother will often disown it. "
This is not true contrary to popular belief. Birds have the worst sense of smell. If you do find a bird who has fallen from the nest you should try and put it back in the nest if possible. If you cant reach the nest, stand clear, DO NOT bother the bird. Most of the time the mother and father and others will do their best to protect it and feed it on the ground until it is ready to fly.
I saw a cat raiding the nest and killing the mother. I was too late to save her but was able to rescue one of her babies. I hand raised the baby until she could fly. Now she flies with the other doves in the neighborhood but returns frequently for food and a snuggle.
She has grown so much! Hard to imagine that when you got her, she was smaller than a chicken egg and barely had any feathers! You've done well, Doc Johnlittle and Nurse K. Thanks for saving her!
@LillyduLac The mother was killed by a neighborhood cat. It's hard to believe anyone could find fault with rescuing the baby.

My pet doves (ringnecks) always did that trembly-wing thing when they were around another dove or human that they loved. :)
elanicstuff 4 years ago
All doves do that wing tremble when they are interacting with someone they really trust, or another dove they care about.

She's telling you she's hungry with those wings :) What a cutie!

Good for you. I do know that once a bird has been touched by a human, the mother will often disown it.
But in this case, it seems like the dove wouldn't have much of a chance, anyway. Thanks
