  • Ray is amazing. Just recently started going through his catalog and the man is a poet. Beautiful music and even better lyrics. THIS is music.

  • @Inoitspointless Go find somewhere to be positive. You aren't going to change anyone over youtube, Freak.

  • Hes like james taylor with black hair.

  • He's class......

  • Ray LaMontagne is a poet, music is so powerful.

  • this guy is awesome.

  • Great freaking music..

  • Ray is so beautiful, I cant express in words how amazing he is. The man is a poet, this song brings a tear to my eye.

  • How on earth can it take 2 weeks before someone has to put another comment on this video this is ray lamontagne not some talentless bloke who sings on open mike nights down the local pub. pure talent ray.

  • it's like me till i found my actual girlfiriend

  • Absolutely brilliant!

  • Real music.

  • this song make me weep.

  • brilliant song..seen this guy live 5 times now and he never ceases to captivate me. if i had to pick a memorable concert it was when he decided the acoustics in the venue weren't right for the band, so had them all leave after about 7 songs and played the rest of the concert acoustic....truly amazing stuff

  • sorry I did not mean to post that 3 times!

  • I love Ray LaMontagne and I love this song. I'm from the area he's from in Maine and this really explains how it is to grow up in Maine. It's sometimes very hard to strive for your dreams, because there are limits on what you can do in the state of Maine. Sometimes you have to move away and go after what you want. He did, now look at him! :) He inspires me.

  • Great song. Brilliant performance.

  • btw, the first love is now my sister's best friend.. the second love is married to my best friend. the third love is the one who gave me life and led my way through this love. 31 now and have at times felt much older. the push up is my only friend. here's to pretty girls with 3 lettered names and a man whose face was in the mud.

  • this song is my life.. first love ran off to have child with another man. second love turned to marry another man, third love never really speaks or shows HIs face. to challenge yourself is to lose and win. love to see him win a grammy for songwriting.

  • wow.......I think this is even better than "Sarah". Love. Love. Love this song.

  • The song really is flawless, and so is this performance. Amazing.

  • I commented before how much I loved this song. Bought the CD but I much prefer this version of 'Old before your time'.Album version is too fast and no need for drums and other guitar. So Ray if your reading this, make Jools Holland version available as a download. Love track 10 though, 'Devil's in the Jukebox'. Also banjo is much better here.

  • Masterfully done. Speaks to my soul and am thankful for writers capable of this work.

  • This is really a great song. Speaks to my soul. Thanks.

  • he is a beautiful soulful man who sings from within

  • watch his face at 2:50...that look, that shake of his head, shows how much he actually believes in his lyrics. He actually looks pained to be saying what he is saying...

  • I love this song.

  • Ray has extraordinary emotional insight. That's what sets him apart. Sweet, melodious soul. Unbridled soul. Comes through strong in every song he sings.

  • wow.....................

  • He's got a great magnetism about him. He has a unique voice, he plays solid guitar, produces nice tunes and has a charisma that can't be manufatured. This man is just an artist.

  • Hes amazing, i hope he is as big as what he should be, better then some of the shit in the charts these days!

  • Great song.Never heard of Ray LaMontagne and then I saw him on Jools Holland. Went straight to you Tube and there it was posted already. Thanks so much. Must learn it for my repertoire of guitar songs.

  • Best song on the Jools Holland show last night by miles.

  • Just seen this on jools holland (repeat of this), loved it, particularly love the banjo on this.

  • his best album along with Be Here Now! Brought me through some times!!

  • Beautiful song!

    Couldn't expect less from him.

  • It's all in the beard. Just ask Jesus.

  • @dmbondemand i have a beard

  • Every song of his gets me more in love with him .. he can really hit chords into my soul !

  • My world would be whole if I had the ability to describe how flawless this song actually is, but my words would merely scrape the surface and do it no justice.

  • @Hmmmmzzz agreed. wholeheartedly. your words actually described it perfectly.

  • I actually love this guy. I never tire of listening to ray's amazing voice & poigniant lyrics. One of the most honest musician's out there. Keep on, keeping on.
