@Acid7Ibanez both are the same, exept stock. AS val have also a slightly higer RPM in auto (900). Both are equiped with the same side rail for the PSO-1-1, and able to use whatever 10-20 or 30 rounds (modern) magazine. So basically you can make a sniper weapon of the one you want, just that the VSS buttstock is more confortable for this task
@KyoshoCrew yeah they are alittle old, but still some of the best, the SVD is a personal favorite of mine, the kick goes straight back, no rise, so getting back on target is quick and easy allowing for extremely quick follow up shots
@skyelander00 So you would be very surprised. The VSS is an accurate killer at 200m, they say 400 on paper, but 200-250 is really its maximum for a good shot. It's very good for such a short barrel and low speed. Bullet initial speed is 290 m/s, bullet weights 17 grams and has a machined steel penetrator, it defeats class 3 and 4 armour. It's a very scientific gun, not a cheap ass shit like you think, no equivalent in the world.
im an american and i love russian weapons, but i also love american weapons. to be honest countrys choose weapons to match there troops and enviroments. russia use wepons for their rugged area and somthing cheap and powerfull cuz all of there troops we buy guns light and compack. its different for eveyone and by the way germans make the best weapons

M82 Barrett is based on on Soviet PTRS anti-tank sniper rifle. Even CheyTac .408 (high caliber) round is less accurate above 600 yards than Russian 12.7x54mm round, used primarily in "Vykhlop" high-caliber sniper riflle. I'm not Russian.
@kazus669 Don't exagerate, VSSK 12.7x54 is a subsonic rifle, meant to pack more punch and range than the 9x39 VSS, it's not comparable in any way with the 408 cheytac which is certainly the most accurate sniper rifle ever made, with a cartridge like no others, just made for this rifle and nothing else, just made for accuracy. The price of a sigle 408 cartridge is twice or three time the price of a 308 match cartridge.
@kazus669 And there is no PTRS sniper rifle, we are not in FUCKING COD. PTRS -41 is a semi auto gas operated version of the PRTD. PTRD was made by Degtyarev and is a one shot bolt action rifle, PTRS made by simonov with 5 rounds magazine. Both have the same balistic and shoot the 14.5x114 round. They are strictly anti material rifles, not fittable with scope.

All in all, the Mosin PU is a very fine weapon, very accurate and serviceable up to 600-800m. But the SVD does the same, and is a modern weapon, automatic and fitted with a better scope. Sasha is just a WW2 lover, i also told me back in our discussion, than russia should throw AK and go back with PPSH.... pathetic. PPSh is fine, but far away of polyvalence, accuracy, power and all numerous advantages of AK74 rifles, and AK/AKM

First, the rifle SVD was proven superior barrel and accuracy than mosin in izhmash and army tests back in the 1960's. Second, the scope PSO1, is far more advanced than PU and PEM scope used on mosin, moreover, PSO1 is 4x magnification, slightly more. The PSO1 reticle is great and extremely accurate, PU reticle is rude to accomodate and be familiar with.

SVD is not a big AK, it's a very accurate made, expensive design, reliable and of great quality, only 2 countries ever managed to make REAL dragunov : russia and china, which are some leaders of military technologies and heayvy industries. Of course russian SVD is the best of the two. PSO-1 is perfect for the job, PU is rude and not easy to use.

As for quality of SVD vs mosin, i assure you the izhmash milspec SVD are as good as mosin, plus being semi auto and modern. You might have been confused however, by the TIGR SVD civilian clone, wich will compare poorly against a milspec PU. TIGR have poor barrel quality, just good for hunting or short range shooting competition.

And they have a lot of other specialised weapons : up-to date M91/30 (i cant remember name), SV98, large calibers SVDK, VSSK, OSV96 and ASVK, and silenced VSS, VSK94, and certainly others, plus some foreign weapons such as AI AWM L96 (300WM and 338LM), or SAKO TRG42 (338LM)
yeah, pretty sure i'd take the Cheytac intervention or the Micmillan TAC-50 over any of these, and if I had to pick a 7.62 round rifle it'd have to be the M40A3

@PATRONSKiii wtf, dude, up until recently the TAC-50 held the record for longest confirmed kill, the .408 round of the Cheytac remains supersonic longer that the .50 round, which means it has a little better accuracy at longer ranges, although it doesn't carry as far, which makes either of these superior to any of these rifles, and the M40A3 has proven it's self time and time again, I like guns, not a gun in some ridiculus game, and i hate admitting it, but the L115A3 is more accurate than both

The SVD is a longer/semi auto version of the AK-47. The VSS and whatever the other one was are SIMILAR to the AK-47 in both manufacturing and mechanics. The soviets found a weapon that works great and stuck with it. (NOT A BAD THING). M91/30 is still the best long range weapon to come from the USSR.
The SVD HAS STRICTLY nothing in common with AK, ok maybe the fact both are made of metal and wood ? ... OK, first, forget AK47, lets talk about AK47M (or AKM) This rifle is the most represented kind of AK, and the most copied. It's made with stamped steel receiver.
The SVD differs totally : it's a machined (modern are CNC machined) receiver rifle.
@Mchermsquatch The SVD uses NOT the same gas system (short piston with modulable pressure, while AK is a long piston with nothing to mod), the bolt carrier and bolt are NOT the same at all.
The trigger group is different, as well as the firing selector (i'm not talking of the shape...) the SVD has machined parts, the rifle is made from a solid steel block, only the top cover is similar to the AK, but different in locking system.
@Mchermsquatch SVD ammo is 7.62x54R, and AK are 7.62x39 and 5.45x39. The svd has nothing in common with ak. Some countries (romania) made long version of AK that shots full lenght bullets, but they are not SVD, look and compare a REAL svd and whatever AK.
OK, second point : VSS.
VSS is very different from AK, but still nearer from it than was SVD. VSS uses accurate and soft mechanics, that limits recoil and bound, it's a sofisticated weapon, and it's machined, not stamped.

Well, the AK74 IS an AK, the AK74 is based on AKM, and has nearly all in common (though, 70 % of pieces are NOT interchangeable)
The AK74 uses a small caliber similar to 556, the 5.45x39.

LASt point, mosin. LOOOL, well, SVD is better, SV98 is better, and russia has a lot of 12.7x108mm rifles for long range. Mosin is outdated, even if it is a damn good rifle even now.

@skyelander00 So you would be very surprised. The VSS is an accurate killer at 200m, they say 400 on paper, but 200-250 is really its maximum for a good shot. It's very good for such a short barrel and low speed. Bullet initial speed is 290 m/s, bullet weights 17 grams and has a machined steel penetrator, it defeats class 3 and 4 armour. It's a very scientific gun, not a cheap ass shit like you think, no equivalent in the world.

M82 Barrett is based on on Soviet PTRS anti-tank sniper rifle. Even CheyTac .408 (high caliber) round is less accurate above 600 yards than Russian 12.7x54mm round, used primarily in "Vykhlop" high-caliber sniper riflle. I'm not Russian.

@kazus669 Don't exagerate, VSSK 12.7x54 is a subsonic rifle, meant to pack more punch and range than the 9x39 VSS, it's not comparable in any way with the 408 cheytac which is certainly the most accurate sniper rifle ever made, with a cartridge like no others, just made for this rifle and nothing else, just made for accuracy. The price of a sigle 408 cartridge is twice or three time the price of a 308 match cartridge.

They are strictly anti material rifles, not fittable with scope.

All in all, the Mosin PU is a very fine weapon, very accurate and serviceable up to 600-800m. But the SVD does the same, and is a modern weapon, automatic and fitted with a better scope. Sasha is just a WW2 lover, i also told me back in our discussion, than russia should throw AK and go back with PPSH.... pathetic. PPSh is fine, but far away of polyvalence, accuracy, power and all numerous advantages of AK74 rifles, and AK/AKM

This sasha, he post that on every fucking video possible, i had a rude argue with him on an other one. But he's wrong, totally. First, the rifle SVD was proven superior barrel and accuracy than mosin in izhmash and army tests back in the 1960's. Second, the scope PSO1, is far more advanced than PU and PEM scope used on mosin, moreover, PSO1 is 4x magnification, slightly more. The PSO1 reticle is great and extremely accurate, PU reticle is rude to accomodate and be familiar with.

SVD is not a big AK, it's a very accurate made, expensive design, reliable and of great quality, only 2 countries ever managed to make REAL dragunov : russia and china, which are some leaders of military technologies and heayvy industries. As for quality of SVD vs mosin, i assure you the izhmash milspec SVD are as good as mosin, plus being semi auto and modern. You might have been confused however, by the TIGR SVD civilian clone, wich will compare poorly against a milspec PU. TIGR have poor barrel quality, just good for hunting or short range shooting competition.

And they have a lot of other specialised weapons : up-to date M91/30 (i cant remember name), SV98, large calibers SVDK, VSSK, OSV96 and ASVK, and silenced VSS, VSK94, and certainly others, plus some foreign weapons such as AI AWM L96 (300WM and 338LM), or SAKO TRG42 (338LM)

@PATRONSKiii wtf, dude, up until recently the TAC-50 held the record for longest confirmed kill, the .408 round of the Cheytac remains supersonic longer that the .50 round, which means it has a little better accuracy at longer ranges, although it doesn't carry as far, which makes either of these superior to any of these rifles, and the M40A3 has proven it's self time and time again, I like guns, not a gun in some ridiculus game, and i hate admitting it, but the L115A3 is more accurate than both

The SVD is a longer/semi auto version of the AK-47. The VSS and whatever the other one was are SIMILAR to the AK-47 in both manufacturing and mechanics. The soviets found a weapon that works great and stuck with it. (NOT A BAD THING). M91/30 is still the best long range weapon to come from the USSR.

The trigger group is different, as well as the firing selector (i'm not talking of the shape...) the SVD has machined parts, the rifle is made from a solid steel block, only the top cover is similar to the AK, but different in locking system.

@Mchermsquatch SVD ammo is 7.62x54R, and AK are 7.62x39 and 5.45x39. The svd has nothing in common with ak. Some countries (romania) made long version of AK that shots full lenght bullets, but they are not SVD, look and compare a REAL svd and whatever AK.

VSS is very different from AK, but still nearer from it than was SVD. VSS uses accurate and soft mechanics, that limits recoil and bound, it's a sofisticated weapon, and it's machined, not stamped.

Well, the AK74 IS an AK, the AK74 is based on AKM, and has nearly all in common (though, 70 % of pieces are NOT interchangeable)
The AK74 uses a small caliber similar to 556, the 5.45x39.

@Mchermsquatch The AK of this video is an AKS74 (folding stokc), late model with black furnitures. It's fitted with an SVD scope, and is accurate up to 400m, simple light and effective marksman rifle.
LASt point, mosin. LOOOL, well, SVD is better, SV98 is better, and russia has a lot of 12.7x108mm rifles for long range. Mosin is outdated, even if it is a damn good rifle even now.

Mosin Nagant M91/30 PU is a better sniper rifle!!! SVD at best is a "marksman" rifle

@SashaVedernikov Totaly wrong, SVD as proven in factory test to be more accurate as mosin. PU scope is crappy compared to the quality and functions of PSO-1, the fact than SVD is semi auto don't make it less accurate.
But mosin is a GREAT rifle too, it's still used non officialy, by some russian spetsnaz, or some modernisations.
