  • you people have no idea as to what kid of government you have... :/

  • "This is america, I don't a tomato picked by a mexican I want it picked by an american. Then sliced by a guatamalen and served by a venezualen in a spa where chilian gives me a brazilian." LMAO!!!!!

  • I hope that wasn't real.

  • Ok, he might be saying give the country back the american jobs! great job.

  • Help me out....the guy behind Colbert.....is that Bill O'Reillys nephew or Clark Kent??

  • I didn't know Congress was having comedy hour on C-Span. Now what channel do I turn to in order to see Congress really hard at work?

  • It's physically back breaking work, which is a painful issue.

The work is done by people who live here in constant anxiety of being physically uprooted, starved and dumped back into a third world country where dogs are fed tortillas if at all. Besides the fact that all of the southern states had originally been claimed by Spain, and stolen by the US, there is considerable karmic guilt to be repaid. It's hard to forgive, and it's difficult to admit to guilt, but it's necessary to reconcile.

  • @helenread25 Come on, people in mexico aren't that darn poor. Mexico is far far far better off then countries like Africa, India, and many others, mexico is not the poorest country, it isn't even that poor to begin with, it's abit exagerrated. And please don't say they are fleeing the cartels in mexico for a better life, because those in the middle east, africa, korea, have it far far worse than those in mexico.

  • @makeme708

I've been married for 15 years to a man from Guanajuato, who has described

this terrible poverty and lack over the years.

He's from a ranch called "La Tinaja del Refugio" located outside of a small town

called "Apaseo el Alto" so small that the taxi driver got lost trying to get there.

And yet infiltrated by the Mafia.

My husband has a childhood friend w/ an upholstery shop who pays protection money, like in "The Godfather" to keep it safe.

  • Gosh he's brilliant at this. Funny how many people in the background seem so disinclined to laugh.

  • politically incorrect, true, honest, and right in the faces of the houses that are out of touch. I find it incredibly underhanded that major media is blowing this off as a publicity stunt instead of listening to really, and understanding the plain English (easy-to-understand) words of a tax-payer, both houses are supposed to represent with the at-home interests in mind first and foremost.

  • @orgo33 immigrants pay taxes too...but don't benifit from them at all.....

  • @marianunez701 Are you talking about legal or illegal immigrants? Are you saying illegals immigrants fill out a I-9 form also? because in order for payroll taxes to be taken out you need to fill out the I-9 form.

  • It's OK to laugh!!! He's funny!!!!

  • @MsKathydavis He is not funny, he's an idiot, he made americans look lazy and stupid.

  • @makeme708 and your saying most of us aren't?

  • Comedy doesn't work go well with Congress.

  • LOL, look at that stiff behind him. Grow a sense of humor nerd!

  • Just note. Colbert's testimony cost all of us, the U.S. Taxpaers $125,000.00 PER HOUR.

Do you think this was a good use of your money? I sure don't! $125K can feed a lot of people, buy a lot of school supplies, employ a few teachers, a few cops, ..........you get my point.

IT WAS ANOTHER FREAKING WASTE OF OUR MONEY!

  • @PJTrpster Wasted money? No, he used his celebrity to address a serious issue to millions of Americans, including yourself, that wouldn't have acknowledged the issue otherwise. Good job Colbert!

  • @PJTrpster That money wouldn't have been spent feeding people or paying teachers anyway. Our Government would find something else to spend it on, something that doesn't matter. And Colbert makes many fine points, does he not? His speech was very insightful, and might finally make congress realize that their petty infighting has no place in politics. Or, at the very least, help them reach that conclusion (if they ever do.)

  • @PJTrpster is right. We should save the money and not have any congressional hearings at all. Lets just give the congressmen our money without hearing any of the nations voices! Democracy GOOOOO!

  • STEVEN COLBERT 2012... WHO IS WITH ME????

  • LMAAAOOOO Colbert for president.

  • @ZachRisingerTV

Colbert is hilarious, but I wouldn't vote for a Catholic.

  • @Observer585 You are a prime example of those who believe they are the all high and mighty. Though very subtle, and comedic in nature, what he says actually shows how stupid things have gotten in this country. Though with someone so single minded in thought wouldn't understand what he is saying, i'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Read between the lines. Think more deeply on what he is saying, and you will see that their is a lot more there than perhaps you may think. Well said by Stephen.

  • Goes to show how this phony bombs without an audience full of mindless shills who will laugh at anything from farts to nut shots. Doesn't he remind you of that nasty person at school who gets off on belittling other people? If you think what he had to say was clever, incisive or worthy of anything more than an embarrassed chuckle, please accept my sympathy for your loss in the gene pool lottery.

This was bad manners without a hint of anything clever.

  • @Observer585 Hard to argue with 4:15 thru 4:40 though... unless you live your WHOLE life with blinders on -- Oh and speaking of gene pool.... this coming from someone who is likely to vote for Palin, O'Donnell, Angle ro Rand! Haha! Credibilty FAIL!

  • This man has more talent, brains, and guts than every single one of those stone faced congressman.

  • I love Colbert so much more now.

  • Is there a full video of the q and a session?

  • they don't do justice by not showing the entire video, watch the full testimony and then start judging

  • Way better than Elmo.

  • THE DEMS PROVE THAT CONGRESS IS A "JOKE". House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she thought it would be a great idea for the Comedy Central star to give his “expert” testimony. “Of course I think it’s appropriate,” she said. “He’s an American. He can bring attention to an important issue. I think it’s great.”

Thanks Nancy! I CAN'T WAIT 'TIL NOVEMBER!

  • @irishmaryoh1

FOOL WHO HAD ELMO TESTIFY INFRONT OF CONGRESS?

  • @qunniq At least Elmo’s testimony was on music education for kids. There aren’t raging passions on both sides of the music education issue. Bringing in Colbert — in character! — to talk immigration strikes me as beyond idiotic.

  • @irishmaryoh1 Great point! SO MUCH TO BE ANGRY ABOUT!!! GRRRRRRR!!!! STUPID SUNNY DAYS!!! COLOR!! SOUND!!!! LETS JUST BE ANGRY ALL OF THE TIME!!!! GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!! LETS MAKE THIS A BIG DEAL!!!!!!! GRRRRR!!! Get a life fruit cake!

  • @irishmaryoh1 "....Bringing in Colbert — in character! — to talk immigration strikes me as beyond idiotic."

i don't know what you mean. what do you think makes colbert? it's his character as "colbert"! you think people wouldn't expect him not to be in character? it's a serious topic and look at how being serious has helped put attention to this subject. close to no attention compared to colbert's approach.

he's has gotten our attention. look at how many comments there are!!!

  • @irishmaryoh1, Congress has been a joke for years. They make a mockery of this country and Colbert made a mockery of them.

  • Oh, well, the spotlight shines again on the embarrassment that is Congress!

Having an elitist clown come to Washington to mock the working middle class in front of other elitist clowns goes a long way towards awakening the nation.

  • @FORMETOKNOWONLY

What??? CORPORATE FARMERS AND ILLEGAL MEXICANS ARE "middle class?"

the public school system has failed you son

  • I love this guy!
