I don't agree with this scale, like what the hell is that? It's highly opinionated and i don't agree with nearly any of the placements, it's a highly opinionated thing and frankly who has the time to create a scale designed to rank people based off their crimes? that's not for one person to say.

@SamhainTheDark IMHO the line gets blurred; it's known from interviews with defectors that some of his "subjects" really believe he is divine, can control the weather, can shapeshift into a bird etc; everyday his subjects adore and worship him, just like a religious figure; for these people it's not just like "oh, I live in this society and Comrade Kim rules it"; when mystical overtones are added, the line gets blurred; so much that you clearly see how often religion is used to rule people. IMHO

Jim Jones' followers were mostly unhappy people who were happy to get attention from him. He was a very likeable guy to people who met him.
The people who leave cults are the people who aren't completely lost. One of Jones' children was away with the Jonestown basketball team when the suicide occured. He refused his father's initial order to return, sensing that something wasn't right.

One thing- that survivor seemed a bit dodgy to me, like he was hiding something.. Perhaps he was an accomplice, and had second thoughts (like about his family) when he saw someone else die. I'm not saying he did, and hope to god he doesn't read this if he didn't- but how exactly did he get away from there? We're talking nearly 1000 people.

as sad as itis a lot of Christian churches now a days are into their way into becoming a cult. Teaching that members should always obey their leader no matter what. Sometimes even if the teaching is not biblical anymore. Just because it says in the bible that we should respect authority placed above us. At the end God has more authority than anyone else and God gave us freewill to choose and a brain so that we would know what is right or wrong.
