I play a '98 Epiphone Les Paul through a Marshall Artist 3203 and I just can't seem to get enough treble out of the boost channel. Is there a particular boost pedal you would recommend?
Sounds great, but one question: in your opinion, where is the best position on the fx signal chain, to place a treble boost. Currently have Wah, compressor, old distortion, overdrive, phase, tremolo into blues deluxe (4x10). Really curious to know where treble boost would fit best in this context,
What treble booster would work best in trying to obtain that early Tony Iommi tone? I know he used a Dallas Arbiter Rangemaster, but what pedal is best for coming close to that sound? Thanks! :)
How big is difference between Keeley Java boost and Germania (and 44)? I really dig the java boost, but I can buy 44 really cheap, but the problem is that I'm not in position to try it.
I'm thinking about getting this. I play heavy metal in the style of Judas Priest, Metallica, Black Sabbath, and Pantera. But, I want this as my lead tone to give me that Rory Gallagher Iommi lead bluesy tone, do you think this is the right choice?
@lzsthjp - The treble-booster design originally-came about because British players wanted to get a more-American sound (ie. brighter) out of their darker-sounding British amps. They were trying to make their British amps sound like a Fender. They just had no idea of the wonderful monster they created (until Clapton used his with a JTM45 on the "Bluesbreakers" album).
Anyway, that's why PGS used such a dark-sounding amp.
I actually purchased the Germania44, after I checked out this demo. I returned it tho, since it doesn't sound nowhere like this demo. Can there really be that much difference?
will you get any gain out of this on a solid state amp because i know it is more or less for a tube amp? and secondly is true by pass because when you played and it was off the tone sounded like it was not true bypass?
I was wondering, would this thing still pump out all the mid and treble boost that makes it sound so plexi like at bedroom levels? If not, would it do that if I put a power attenuator on the amp?
I've got an older version and did the input capacitor mod myself with a rotary switch - Saraceno dirty Boy style. This pedal is the absolute duck's nuts : )
Hell, I'd buy it if it were just a gray metal box. This is the tone I've been searching for. It's bright enough to cut through the mix like an electric guitar should, but not too bright that it ends up being like nails on a chalkboard. I'll probably buy this online when I'm on vacation in the summer :)
Which do you like more, This, or the MJM Dallas Boost??
im stuck in the middle, and dont know which one to get :S

Will this work for getting more gain out of my Orange Thunderverb? I currently use a CAE 401 for it but that boosts noise as well.

Would this be a good pedal to get that old school Tony Iommi sound? I'm talking Black Sabbath's first EP guitar tone

There's a trick to making a booster pedal operate at it's optimum level. Message me if you're really interested and I'll tell you all about it.

Treble boosters are fantastic! More power and tone than the best overdrives out there!
bigfish0886 1 year ago
the dry signal is AWFULLY dark. the pedal sounds fantastic, but it must be pretty damn bright if the dry signal is that bassy.

Can I use the Germania in effect loop valve guitar amp (peavey classic 50) ?
dmbrunos 2 years ago
I suppose you could, but we wouldn't recommend it. This guy's made to go in frontside.
ProGuitarShopDemos 2 years ago 2
So.. I'm wrong if I think that only the linear boost can go in s/r ?
Thanks
dmbrunos 2 years ago
yes, NEVER put a booster, distortion, fuzz, or overdrive in an effects loop

I use it with an AC4TV, awesome. Can't use it on my big amp 'cause that would require unnecessary loudness.
dependantlividity 2 years ago 9
The biggest key to the way the pedal sounds on this video is "volume at stage level", because you can't get this sound unless its that loud.
metalburger2 2 years ago
you have to play it into a cranked tube amp to get this tone.
