@dvojplisen virus had a few good songs, and the more i'm listening to extreme divinity the more i'm liking it. and shit from virus/atoed isnt any more commercial than fourth dimension, except maybe slightly higher recording quality... if you can even count that.

No, in the exact opposite. humans label things they DO understand. A genre is like a specie of animal, we label animals with scecie for further in depth understanding and knowledge. The same is done with genres. If we didn't understand it we would call it rock and roll, the same as Elvis Presley? I think not. Metal is a Genre of rock and gets broken down further into more subclassifications.
The Fourth Dimension, despite it being very melodic, is still death metal. Let's just say it's proto-melodeath. But you can't deny that this album is still old school style death metal.
I would call this genre "atmospheric death metal".
I agree most of Hypocrisy's albums are more melodic death according to the sub-genre definition of melodic death, but in reality Hypocrisy, post-Broberg, is in a genre all their own. Great tune and slideshow.
When they did this song live in Wacken ('98) he outdid himself vocally. That in my opinion was the best version of this song. Ever.
It was a punishing, flawless performance, as per usual of Hypocrisy live performances.
I love this band when they were a straight death metal act / and their evolution as a band-- which lead to them pioneering a new unique style in the extreme metal scene.
Not enough can be said about what Tagtgren's done for extreme metal. He is a workhorse, He is the man.
It's amazing, I have this but I prefer Peter's more rough vocals on the original but musically I think it's better...amazing anyway as everything Hypocrisy does!

The only thing who pissed me off is the reediting of Catch22 -> v2.0. I was like 'wtf'.
