Ah, then I'm guessing when the particles are layered then the density would appear 'thicker' in some parts creating a nice 'flume' sort of effect. As for the motion, does it follow some sort of path or target (with the occasional random variant), or did you program the motion yourself?
A bijillllion particles? I can sort of understand the basic concept behind doing something like this, but the specifics (such as making the particles 'fade out') are a mystery. Did you have a script simply adjust the size of each particle until they reached point zero, or somehow adjust the textures, or?
@luldozer No... Each particle was a plane with a transparency map - the plane was 100% transparent near the edges and little bit opaque in the middle. I don't remember how many particles I used, probably several hundreds. The fading out was simply done by hiding the particles - one single particle is almost transparent, so you don't even notice when it disappears, but when there are many of them disappearing randomly it makes this nice fade-out effect.
hey how you make so realistic smoke please answer me so fast than you can

I've been using anim8or for some time now but
I have never tried to create smoke effects.

Yes, I did it with transparency maps... And animated it using controller scripts...
