This sounds so much faster and more frantic than the album version. They should have kept this style of drumming for the album. Life is Peachy was a little more subdued/mellower than the first, but still kick ass. It would have been all the more intense if the drumming was like this throughout!
@4c52 This is actually at album speed. Not sped up at all. It's just different hearing the drums without the guitars to drown out some of David's little hits
@ haydross57 He is using a cable-hat. The beat it self takes some practice to get perfect. I had a cable-hat and it was wonderful. It is limitless as to where you can put them.
With the verse, he's doing some buzz stuff on the snare, funky kick, and hats. His left leg is doing some kind of pedal. How is he doing? I want that on my kit. What's the device called that does that?
Hey Guys :))) David whas an Amazing good big Talent Drummer, and has more FUNK STYLE between RAY...i miss David so much @ KoRn, but with Ray, has KoRn an Good Drummer finding .. and of an another Nu-Metal Bands, mhh i like Abe Cunningham from the deftones pretty much !!
Wow, so amazing!!! Really just wish they didn't do the "inverse" effects, so irritating when you just wanna watch them jamm and everything suddenly goes white!
David had the funk and Korn were a funk metal band. They were the heaviest funk metal band. If u don't believe me go listen to "ball tongue" again. Korn's music used to be rhythmically complex (hence all the headbanging) and melodically simple (but awesome). They started getting more melodic around the fifth album and that's when things went downhill. "Here to stay" was the first indication that korn had run out of ideas. I love the first 4 albums.
@phillipguglielmo .. At first I thought you made a pun on the album thing "Untouchable" being that is one of Korn's albums. Then I kept reading and was like "ah.."
holy fuck, after watching this video i just realised how much i have been influenced by his playing over the years. he is a beast drummer, great grooves and ghost notes, and i love that 90's high pitched metallic snare sound
My favourite drummer ever!!! I'm so glad I found this video. I've always wanted to see way more of him playing!!! He prompted me to start drums. He's always been my model and idol since I was 15... I miss you David. I hope one day you'll come back and the beat the shit out of these drums!!!!!!!!! XD
i personally Ray Luzier is a better drummer, but he isnt korn. David and Head need to come back and make a real Korn album, not no skrillex waah wah wah waah bullshit
The Self Titled album and Life is Peachy absolutely shit at all over anything that came after Life is Peachy, the band died in my eyes after those albums. I don't care what anyone says those two albums are some of the few albums I can listen to start to finish, and if it was not for those first two albums I would probably be in the fucking ground.
@sxejam518 Yeah dude, I feel you those albums really brought a lot of salvation to alot of kids, just having a bad day and going home and blaring some KORN! Fuck yeah I cant disrespect this band and am a true fan because I enjoy every album! But I can understand why you pretty much just like the first 2 they had a unique sound compared to anything else korn has done. kinda like me with the Deftones love the first two albums but after that...not so much!
I agree to a certain extent. Those albums were an entirely different koRn compared to the later albums.. But Follow the leader and Issues were great as well. They changed the sound but they were still good... if you look past a few songs on Follow the leader. Dead bodies everywhere for example is still fucking incredible oldschool koRn.
@Alterbridge321 I just feel they lost that sound they had on the first two albums, Follow The Leader to me seemed like they sold out to be accepted on MTV, just my opinion. The anger, intensity and honestly that the first two albums had, seemed to dissapear wit Follow the Leader. I do understand bands grow and mature in order to survive.
@sxejam518 I agree, but I freakin love Korn. I mean I love Self Titled, Life is Peachy, FTL, Issues, Untouchables, Take a Look in the Mirror, See You on the Other Side, and Untitled. Remember Who You Are was mehh. And Path of Totalitly.... Ugh.. I'm trying to give it a shot because i'm seeing Korn in a week and 5/16 of their songs are going to be Dubstep songs. So i'm listening to it just so i'm not sitting around wanting to kill myself for 5 straight songs haha.
@Alterbridge321 I mean yeah here and there a few songs off of some of their past albums are not all that bad. As for the whole dubstep crap I'll stay away, not to sure why people are so amped about dubstep, too each their own I guess. Have fun at the show, I'm going to see Slipknot and Slayer on mayhem at the end of July.
@Alterbridge321 Seen them with ozzy around the time when they where touring in support of their first record, traveled to go see them play with Helmet, and also seen em with the deftones.
@sxejam518 Why do so many say that. Chino from Deftones said something similar saying they were changing too much and soon he wouldn't be a fan anymore because of it. I loved the way they went on but for me the album I like the least is the Untitled album. The new one is ok but you gotta be open minded. Imagine KoRn sounding the same nearly 2 decades later. Boring as shit bro. Besides growing as people and as a band change you like it or not. They play what THEY like. Respect your opinion though
@simp0la As much of a great drummer Ray is, you are right, Silveria just had his own sound like the other members that made the band. And to have him leave, as piece of korn left, just like when head left, another piece went missing. And I wish I could have seen them live with the original members as I don't think it will ever happen again :(
I love David Silveria so much, is not even funny. Fuck Ray Luzier or whatever his name is. Oh, and by the way, the camera man completely ruined this video for me.
Yeah, I heard he sold/gave away all his drums and doesn't even have a pair of sticks anymore. I dont know the real reason he left, but I had heard he was having a lot of problems w/his wrist. Maybe he just retired
I'm not gonna lie...he isn't the greatest...BUT I LOVE HIS STYLE! I actually don't like Korn much, but what keeps bringing me back is their groove, sludge, AND DRUMS! :D
Davids style is pretty simple and straight forward but that is what makes it great, he isn't fancy, he is just a kid in a garage banging away, and that is what all his stuff sounds like.. He can throw down though too. Wish he was back in the band, it is not the same at all..
I am not expert of drummers, but I think "Life is Peachy" is definitely David's album and everytime I listen to his drum line in this song I have shivers
@segaiuolo probably cause it sounds so natural, really feels like you're in the room. i mean the production is good but it doesn't as "big" as the later albums
three people don't like this video... I think that is Ray Luzier, Joey Jordison and Mike Bordin... xD
