This brings back so many christmas memories!I always associate it with Christmas as it was the first time I saw it and have watched it ever since only at Christmas!Such a great movie!!I love it although my family hate it..i think its one of the best movies of all time :-)
scared me as kid especially when i was in 4th grade we read the book and i brought in the dvd and some kid in my class said a munchkin hung himself in the movie...

Her slippers should be silver because it represents the use of silver as a currency to fight the Banks but it was altered in the movie. The screcrow= the ignorant farmers but could always find a way. the tin man= the working class. the scared lion= Braun- who run pres. at 1896 but failed. the rats who pulled the lion=the populace. the gold bricks=the gold currency the bankers want...
Judy Garland was murdered ! just go look up randy quaids 'star whackers' video.
do you think it is a coincidence so many celebrities have died in this way ? even today .. and celebrities are running away or dying from the same way ?
heath ledger, michael jackson, brittany murphy ..
that actor who played the kid in the goonies, committing suicide because he was child molested by evil jewish hollywood moguls.
evil child abusing cult, not just hollywood, 'operation monarch' in the whitehouse
@Communist2012 No, Judy garland was not murderd. She commicted suicide. Despite being a famous star She had a very unstable love life. She was in & out of mental hospitals all her adult life. Brittany Murphy was a drug addict. Which gave her a bad heart & caused her to OD. Same with Micheal Jackson & Heath ledger. They all abused prescription drugs.
@Communist2012 Until It's a proven fact. Yes I will. Like all the rest of the world. The only woman who they covered up her murder was Marilyn Monroe. The rest were all drugies.
For 1939, this movie has AMAZING special effects. The flying house, the talking trees, and the witch melting are simply remarkable. And to think, they did it all without the CGI shit(pardon my french) that are overused in movies today.
I read that this story has occult roots, theosophycal meaning, Baum was freemason and so on (villigant citizen.com). I cant believe that, but can it be true? Please tell me what do you think about it.
@Sizomu If I understand corretly this story shows us how to solve ecomonic issues in this time. Im asking becouse some people are attacking at Baum, this story, movie(hanging munchkings) and at Judy(drugs). If it is not unsuitable for children
@shaggy6832 I believe it very suitable for children. because it shows that WE have all the power to change the world. Watch the end of the movie, a powerful massage. the movie is a bit different from the book, like: No silver slippers (which symbolizes Silver coins). but its no longer relevant today, because we no longer have Gold/Silver standard, and no need for it too. the "powerful massage" at the end is still relevant. about the drugs etc, i think its still better than Disney way of telling
A tornado hurls your ass to a land were little peverted men Give out Lollipops, you walk miles upon miles down a endless brick road, Cursed with Sparkley Blood red shoes that wont come off & probably hurt like hell. Your hungry but demonic posessed tree's mock & throw apples at you, your Damn near put in a coma by poppy flower's. To see a BATSHIT insane man who believes he's a wizard! & some bitch with her MUTATED monkey's want to kill you & your dog. Dorothy NEEDED Intense therapy after this!
There was a time when unified field was no theory in prehistory. every one was aware that we were all one consciousness of the same energy that flows through the universe, we are all one. This land of Oz is the most ancient of the ancient civilizations completely lost to history, the land of E. pluribus unum (from many one)
@MooTelevision - Like so many books, Gone With The Wind included, had the director and producer stayed true to the book it isn't likely the movies would have been as famous. Many of the "famous lines" everyone remembers were written by screenplay writers and not the original authors.
@RevkahJC Thats true. I think the ruby slippers and the line "theres no place like home" were great, but I just wish that the journey on the yellow brick road was longer, ya know? Lol
The whole story is a satire of the corruption in the businesses and corporations of America in the late 1800's. The Scarecrow represents the western farmers with no brains, the tin man represents the eastern industrial workers who worked in the factories with no heart, and the lions represent the congressmen with no courage to stand up against the corporations. The yellow brick road represents the gold standard, and the munchkins are the average citizen
What a shitty movie, they got all those dwarf retards to play the fucking lollipop cult, I couldn't understand anything that was going on in this movie!!!!!
@yurgoindown You didn't understand because of it's esoteric meaning. There is a deep and beautiful message, for those that can understand this masterpiece.
''As for you, my friend, you want a heart. You don't know how lucky you are not to have one. Hearts will never be practical until they can be made unbreakable.''
It really upsets me and hurts me greatly that you classify this as a "oldtime" move. Also I am very insulted by some of the comments posted on this video. A great lot of time, effort, heart and not to mention soul was put into the making of this film. As far as this bing a Remake of a 1920s silent film, the first OZ film was mad in 1908 and not 1925 as there was at least 8 other Oz films even before the one that was made in the 20s. I really think you children need some education. Now leave me be!
It annoys me when people say that movies from the '70s and '60s are old films - someone even told me Titanic (1997) was their favourite old film. But I think that about the pre-1950 point, films can be called old. Sure, it's not Frtiz Lang or D.W Griffith old, but 1939 was 72 years ago... that is an "oldtime" film. You can't expect knowledge of the history of Wizard of Oz adaptions to be general knowledge either, nor call everyone in the comments section children. Chill out.
Sorry to upset you, but yes young one, the history of the Wizard of Oz films should be by now general knowledge since all of them were included in BOTH the 60th and 70th anniversary editions of the DVD and in the 70th anniversary edition of the blu ray, and were spoke about in great length in the documentary included on the 50th anniversary edition of the VHS. And I have known about all adaptions since I was a lad of 4, and whatever hippie commie lingo chill out is, I will not!
So it's okay for you to call everyone you disagree with in the comments section you disagree with a troll, but I can't call people who are acting immature children? You see...It's moronic comments like that that will get you labeled as a cyber bully and have the intelligentsia start believing that you, as someone with bully like tendencies, are truly an insecure neurotic who got picked on as a child and are simply hiding behind a key board! J' Accuse!!
There's rumours about a remake, but everyone should know that this film is a remake of a 1920's silent film and an adaptation from a book.
I'm fed up with people saying there's too many remakes & Adaptation these days, that there's no originality any more. Well remakes have been around forever, I.e. Scarface is a remake.
I forgot how childish this movie was. I way prefer the spoof novel and musical Wicked, cause I have sympathy for villains. Does anyone else think that the Wicked Witch of The West and her sister could have meant well, or at least got a raw deal? And as for the shoes-Dorothy should just hand them over to WWOTW. They were her sister's!
Looking back, I'm left to wonder about something. Did the homeowner's insurance policy cover the damages that resulted in the house crashing into the land of Oz??
Whys anyone really bothered if they do a remake? They remade Alice In Wonderland and that turned out beautifully. Obiously the original will always be better but it doesn't mean the remake has to be terrible, I think if they stayed true and don't mess with any of the plot then it could be visually stunning.
If Tim Burton ever dares to try and remake this masterpiece with J. Depp as Scarecrow, I'm going to launch a rebelion in protest against it. Who's with me?
Just saw it now for the first time, the movie is breath takingly magnificent. My only complaint is the paintings used as an extension of the set for backgrounds to give it scope at times looks very apparent. But in some scenes those paintings are done so well, I was gasping and amazed at how beautiful the scenes looked, they looked real. I loved the movie
@80scinema true, both films are very epic in their own way. But in my opinion, Gone with the wind is a little too overrated. Wizard of Oz in my opinion will remain more timeless. But I guess I'll have to watch Gone with the wind more times to really know the film
i needed to do a musical on school about the Wizard of Oz, i got the role: the wizard of Oz, now i need to learn the whole script instead of playing with my xbox in weekend..... I need to learn it before 11 january and just got my script on 6 january..... :(
Like many, I grew up watching this movie and it was and still is one of my favorite movies that I have ever seen. Between Judy Garland singing the iconic "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", the munchkins having their great parade, and Margaret Hamilton's excellent portrayal of the Wicked Witch, this movie will continue to be remembered as one of the greatest movies in American film history for many years to come.
i hate whenn they try to ruin classics with new shxt . -_- like way to kill a classic i seen this movie since i was 1O or younqer maybe 8 even and for them to do that is just desperate for money .
Shirley Temple, in here autobiography book "Child Star", said that a producer of Wizard of Oz named Alfred Freed (Jew) exposed himself to her in his office at 11 years old.
@EscapeNewJersey - That would've been quite impossible...the producer of Oz was Mervyn LeRoy, and it was MGM music man Roger Edens who gave Temple an unofficial audition on the lot of her studio, 20th Century Fox.
@WhatsAYak Wikipedia Arthur Freed-> After working (uncredited) in the role of associate producer[2] on The Wizard of Oz, he was promoted to being the head of his own unit within MGM, and helped elevate the studio to the leading creator of film musicals.
When she was 11, Hollywood producer (The Wizard of Oz uncredited associate producer) and lyricist ("Singin' in the Rain") Arthur Freed exposed himself to Temple. In her autobiography, Child Star, Temple wrote, "Having thought of him as a producer rather than exhibitor, I sat bolt upright". She says she laughed at him and walked away, which infuriated him.
@EscapeNewJersey So, is the parenthetical inclusion of a person's religion (Jew) a writing technique you were taught at Brigham Young University (Bigoted Assholes)?

@singersinger456 i saw wicked too. how do you see dorothy differently? wouldnt you see glinda or elphaba differently?
HelloHollywood1996 1 year ago
Just saw it now for the first time, the movie is breath takingly magnificent. My only complaint is the paintings used as an extension of the set for backgrounds to give it scope at times looks very apparent. But in some scenes those paintings are done so well, I was gasping and amazed at how beautiful the scenes looked, they looked real. I loved the movie

vivtor fleming was way ahead of his time, wizard of oz and gone with the wind are both undated classics
80scinema 1 year ago

Shirley Temple, in here autobiography book "Child Star", said that a producer of Wizard of Oz named Alfred Freed (Jew) exposed himself to her in his office at 11 years old.
EscapeNewJersey 1 year ago
@EscapeNewJersey - That would've been quite impossible...the producer of Oz was Mervyn LeRoy, and it was MGM music man Roger Edens who gave Temple an unofficial audition on the lot of her studio, 20th Century Fox.
WhatsAYak 1 year ago
@WhatsAYak Wikipedia Arthur Freed-> After working (uncredited) in the role of associate producer[2] on The Wizard of Oz, he was promoted to being the head of his own unit within MGM, and helped elevate the studio to the leading creator of film musicals.
EscapeNewJersey 1 year ago
@WhatsAYak

@EscapeNewJersey So, is the parenthetical inclusion of a person's religion (Jew) a writing technique you were taught at Brigham Young University (Bigoted Assholes)?
madamerotten 1 year ago
@madamerotten No, its years of working in the Jew run financial services industry and observing how they operate and think.
EscapeNewJersey 1 year ago
@madamerotten Wow!! look at all the nasty comments you have posted by other people on your channel, you must be a trouble making asshole Jew!!

@EscapeNewJersey No, I'm an African American woman. I must say, you sure are a hateful whitey.
