Temple is great but I dont get why Swami Narayan is the prevailing murti? Even in Isckon temples they give respect to the Guru but thier worship is only to Krishna.

@dhavalstr I know how exactly they got this much money. I am not a BAPS follower but we respect their work. I used to live in University quarters and it was agreed that what ever scrap we have from our home we would donate it to BAPS in building temples and I think most of them agreed. 2000 homes from our University quarters use to donate their scrap so they can sell them and make money form whatever the cost for the temple is.

@dhavalstr As it happens I know how exactly temple was built poor farmers and craftsmen from rajasthan were involved who were struck by failure of crops over there. And it happens every time they build their temple tens of thousands of people, craftsmen are used everytime they build their temple. @dhavalstr Our family though not BAPS follower donated Rs. 5000/- for temple bcoz we recognise their charity work. And it is unprecedented that any community or Hinduism sect spread our cultural values overseas as well. And to much more to everyone's delight they are gonna build Akshardham New jersey even bigger than one in Delhi. Even China's communist government proposed BAPS to build Akshardham temple there just bcoz they recognise their art & work. Have u ever heard nething like that?

I visited Akshardham with my family in the summer of 2007. In my opinion, it's the most beautiful building in Delhi. And even though I am neither Gujarati nor a Swaminarayan worshiper, I have to say that Akshardham was one of the most beautiful modern representations of Hindu dharma.

Those sculptors who made money out of this temple were also poor people. You cannot pass money to poor for free, you have to give them work and that work is the construction of this temple. This is how wealth trickles down to poor from the rich. Besides, this is how you keep sculpture alive in this day and age. Every shopping mall today is made of Steel & Glass architecture how will our Indian architecture & sculpture survive if we do not patronize from time to time?

I used to live in University quarters and it was agreed that what ever scrap we have from our home we would donate it to BAPS in building temples and I think most of them agreed. 2000 homes from our University quarters use to donate their scrap so they can sell them and make money form whatever the cost for the temple is.

And it happens every time they build their temple tens of thousands of people, craftsmen are used everytime they build their temple. And it is unprecedented that any community or Hinduism sect spread our cultural values overseas as well. I visited Akshardham with my family in the summer of 2007. In my opinion, it's the most beautiful building in Delhi. And even though I am neither Gujarati nor a Swaminarayan worshiper, I have to say that Akshardham was one of the most beautiful modern representations of Hindu dharma.

Those sculptors who made money out of this temple were also poor people. You cannot pass money to poor for free, you have to give them work and that work is the construction of this temple. This is how wealth trickles down to poor from the rich. Besides, this is how you keep sculpture alive in this day and age. Every shopping mall today is made of Steel & Glass architecture how will our Indian architecture & sculpture survive if we do not patronize from time to time?

it's an amazing place considering the era that it was builtin.however im sad to agree that it gives me the feeling such a waste as well unfortunately, efforts spent on it if was spent on delhi that would have made delhi a much cleaner better richer place than it is now i hope that would be enough to describe how complex this mandir is.one last thing I didnt feel comfortable when Isaw that aplace that was built for praying was beingprotected byheavymachineguns!Howmany enemies do they haveand why?
