I have a Dan Wesson 8" barrel stainless steel with a scope on it. The weight of the stainless steel plus the 8" barrel and scope makes it recoil less but the ports would also dramatically reduce the recoil.

I own the same model gun, 285-300 grain rounds are perfect for that weapon. BTW them ports work for sure. The only thing that gun hates is sub 200g rounds IMO. I have found the heavier the round that you use in this gun, the recoil is the same. Taurus got something right with this gun and I love mine. P.S. I live in Grizzly country and the guns weight might be a bit heavy, but its designed weight is to help with the recoil.

The full length barrel lug under the barrel helps keep the kick down too. That looks like one of the easiest shooting .44 mags ever made. My 7.5" Super Redhawk isn't bad either, just because of the weight.....but I'd say yours definitely wouldn't kick much at all. (unless you use that Buffalo Bore +P+ load!)
