@suttuation37 Almost everyone agrees with that. Fuck. I wish I could just like, be kidnapped by a monk and taken to the mountains of Tibet where they'd train me. I studied a bit of Kung Fu and I did a few other martial arts here and there... but nothing like this. :/ I wish I could.
lol i didnt think this was a legitimate fighting form when my master told me about it, so we sparred, i used mantis style and he used the drunken fist, boy was i wrong. my style was too gentle compared to his. hopefully he will teach me when i get into my upper degrees.
@LaVivaGan Excuse us? Speak for yourself. Born and raised in America, brother. And since I can remember I've dreamed of just meeting someone like this. Maybe you'd consider him mentally disabled. I'd consider him a fucking god.
@LaVivaGan I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the fact that you made such a generalized statement, and even madder at the fact that for most, it's true. It's a sad age we live in.
@binnyficate It's better for those who practice ways such as the drunken fist. It is meant to look uncontrolled and weak, no? Well that is what they think.... until they are struck down!
Fist, you could post more videos of forms, or the complete video. There are seven years watching this video, has a special way that caught the mantis and a butterfly, do not know if it's right the last. Thanks!
@TheMartialartsJedi Did you just call me arrogant after you condescendingly bashed me and even assumed that I had poor skill level? Follow your own logic here.
I'm not assuming styles are better than others. I'm saying the techniques and application are important. That's why western boxers are more technically oriented towards real fights as opposed to Kung Fu that requires locking arms (ChiSau). And yes, some skills beat senseless street fighters. I didn't rule that out.
@TheMartialartsJedi The fact that you assumed my skill level shows you are arrogant, judgmental, and flawed (then again, you labeled yourself a Martial Arts Jedi already).
I was top of the class in my Kung Fu and even asked to be an instructor for a school before moving to MMA for overall effectiveness and more dimensions of fighting. Yes, there are better styles. A boxer is better in a fight than a Wushu guy, that's obvious. The only thing worse than your arrogance is your grammar.
@TheMartialartsJedi And you know what the MMA response to that is? That's a very arrogant and unverifiable statement you just said ("they are the best warriors on the planet") Put your money where your mouth is. I used to do Kung Fu and I know just how many weaknesses they have. Put a Olympic wrestler against a Kung Fu practitioner and the Olympic wrestler will throw him on his head. Why? Because the wrestler fights full speed while Kung Fu boasts and fights "controlled." Kung Fu lacks skills.
I watch this everyday to remind me to to not take life too seriously, and to adapt like water. After a lifetime of one's hard work and dedication, even for a monk, there will be bumps in the road, and big ones. Do those bumps make us crash? Do they cause us to bleed? Yes. But do we just lay there? No we jump right back up and keep fighting. Be like water and adapt. This drunken fist form demonstrates to not take life too seriously and have fun at times so don't take this comment too seriously :)
@TheMartialartsJedi Cool, thanks for the tip. I checked out his website, although British Columbia is a bit too far for me. I joined his drunken boxing distance program. I like that this is a northern style. I know a lot of northern praying mantis and baji chuen from the wutang system of martial arts. I was interested in learning an authentic drunken style, this looks good, thanks.

This form demonstrates many breakfalls. Breakfalls and evasions are commonly found in Ju-Jitsu and collectively referred to as ukemi. Any one who does ju-jitsu knows if your ukemi sucks you are not very good... and this guys ukemi is marvelous. The forms are a living densho to practice all techniques of a style, forms can be broken down into what the Japanese call kata and typically there are like 40 or more katas per form in Chinese martial arts.
There are chinese martial arts that are meant for fighting and there are those that are cultural arts that mimic the fighting arts. All fighting arts were banned in China at one point, today much of what we see of Chinese martial arts is cultural. Many masters fled to Korea and Taiwan. I practice many martial arts and some lineages are 2,000 years old, these are the traditional arts. Understand they are battlefield arts and all moves are illegal in mma, mma is only a sport not real combat.
Is there a dvd that teaches this form? I'd love to get this from a teacher, but none I know do drunken style. I can do quite a bit of the ukemi in this form already minus the front and back flips and that shaolin head flip thing. This form has some great ukemi in it.
@MichaelTrystorm To be honest, form is irrelevant, it's not about how many forms you learn but the feelings you put into the form. The whole point of teaching you forms, is to find your center. to find the point in which you're able to learn with all your emotions into it.
The animal forms are also dependant on you. I have no idea which form would BEST suit you.
@SKZMatt so think i should do tiger? Because my taekwondo teacher sais i have alot of power in my form and one steps and yesterday i got 1rst place in inter-school tournement, in sparring. So should i learn something like tiger which matches me well or go with my weaker parts.
Dragon is a Sacred art taught to a VERY select few.. only the PUREST of hearts and truest devoltion to buddha may learn Dragon. But dragon is more defensive.
Then I'd advise(to become a better martial artist). To learn Tai Chi from those at the mountain, strengthen your Qi with the qi gong exercises. That will help you're balance that Taekwondo Lacks. As for animal since you seem to be stuck on animal forms. I would say Tiger would be good for power, but it's power throughout the whole body, It's extremely tiring.
Work on something you find the most fun out of, you get the most from that.
This is amazing....There are no words to describe what I watch almost everyday. This is an amazing source of motivation for me for anything that I may be going through.
@wkcia I'm fairly certain you are wrong and obviously have NEVER been in a bar. Some people actually do fight better drunk. And this style is no different than the styles that mimic animals.
i wish someday shaolin monks start to compete in mma. and crush all those loosers who has NO RESPECT for martial arts and real martial artists like one from the video.
@witolindo I wish the same. I am saying that and Im a Japanese Karate guy. LOL Lyoto Machida proved Karate works and I want Kung Fu to have its place too. To prove that all traditional arts can still kick ass.
@witolindo Don't worry the respect of the self is worth a million lives. Kung-Fu is not martial arts, kung-fu is a way of life. The fact to learn things being taght by yourself (the greatest teacher of the world).
@witolindo 1. it's "losers" not "loosers". 2. Not all martial artists were meant to be used in combat. Some were designed for health reasons and might prove ineffective in real fighting. 3. If you look at early MMA, you are sure to find fighters who practiced the same art and they had no real chance. 4. You have no respect at all for anyone when you call them "loosers" and assume they do not have respect for martial arts when they do. 5. You are the weakest link - goodbye!! LMAO.
If they did, the monks would be destroyed in less than 2 minutes tops.
Take boxing. It's much, much more practical than shaolin wushu. And yet any boxer who set foot in an MMA ring was destroyed, very quickly. You think an impractical art would survive? Not a chance.
MMA is practical. It's something you can really use, not for show, like drunken boxing. There's a video here of drunken first vs karate, and the karate guy won against two drunken boxers. And karate is not even MMA.
@witolindo look man, my dad was a mma fighter and he allways teach me to have respect, i think your comentary is very offensive, my dad, i wish to follow his steps.
@The0Indio i had no intention to offend anyone. Your Dad was surely a really good person who knew what martial arts and sports are all about. But we all know that lot of mma fighters are people who only think about power, strength and money. that's all they care about. u see im from poland and we have mamed khalidov who is great fighter who always respects everyone. however we also have people like najman or pudzian who thinks that fighting art is just rude power.
@The0Indio i also wanted to tell ya that i myself know too many people who train martial arts for mma and they have no respect for kung fu , karate or other traditional styles.
@witolindo Don't doubt that they are incredibly skilled, and I'll admit that I know nothing about martial arts, but I get the feeling that many kung fu styles are just that: art, like dancing. It's much cooler to watch but not as effective for combat as getting someone on the ground and pounding on them.
@TheIcERoq After reading your comment, I realize you are the stupidest person here. Bruce Lee is notorious for combat sports and the evolution of fighting itself. He fought for real more than he actually did films. Do you know anything about his life? I know well enough a movie fight isn't real... I never even implied that. Well, like I told MartialArtsJedi, I was top of my class in Kung Fu and asked to start a new academy. Now I'm a MMA fighter. Yes, I definitely suck... and where are you?
@seaFoodSifu i think you are absolutly wrong, i consider you the best fighter of the world, only you can decide which martial art is effective or usefull, please take me as your student i want to become so good as you are
@TheIcERoq Your sarcasm and lack of intellect in our discussion just shows how pathetic you are. Don't be such a keyboard warrior next time- you got nothing.

i wish someday shaolin monks start to compete in mma. and crush all those loosers who has NO RESPECT for martial arts and real martial artists like one from the video.
witolindo 1 year ago 57
@witolindo I wish the same. I am saying that and Im a Japanese Karate guy. LOL Lyoto Machida proved Karate works and I want Kung Fu to have its place too. To prove that all traditional arts can still kick ass.
shotojojo1986 1 year ago
@witolindo Don't worry the respect of the self is worth a million lives. Kung-Fu is not martial arts, kung-fu is a way of life. The fact to learn things being taght by yourself (the greatest teacher of the world).

@witolindo MMA is different than Kung Fu and all that stuff having to do with presentation. Trust me. :( I didn't.

LMAO.
votumseparatum1 1 year ago
@witolindo They don't have the respect in the eastern sense. But they all have a healthy respect for martial arts and what it can do.
100littlecurses 1 year ago
@witolindo

@witolindo This kinda MMA is more of an art while as the thing you watch on TV is all about taking the opponent down.

@witolindo
I agree but wushu is not for attacking other people its for self defense and for a better health excersize but i totally agree with you...

@witolindo look man, my dad was a mma fighter and he allways teach me to have respect, i think your comentary is very offensive, my dad, i wish to follow his steps.
think about what you just said.
The0Indio 9 months ago
@The0Indio i had no intention to offend anyone. Your Dad was surely a really good person who knew what martial arts and sports are all about. But we all know that lot of mma fighters are people who only think about power, strength and money. that's all they care about. u see im from poland and we have mamed khalidov who is great fighter who always respects everyone. however we also have people like najman or pudzian who thinks that fighting art is just rude power.
witolindo 9 months ago
@The0Indio i also wanted to tell ya that i myself know too many people who train martial arts for mma and they have no respect for kung fu , karate or other traditional styles.
witolindo 9 months ago
@witolindo That'd be cool. But they wouldn't disgrace themselves like that.
LnDFightClub 8 months ago
@witolindo Don't doubt that they are incredibly skilled, and I'll admit that I know nothing about martial arts, but I get the feeling that many kung fu styles are just that: art, like dancing. It's much cooler to watch but not as effective for combat as getting someone on the ground and pounding on them.

@witolindo greatest warrior is the one who never has to draw his sword. :P

@Dextiny So my Sensei tells me. Very true indeed
PnutButter1986 7 months ago
@Dextiny So by your logic, Bruce Lee must have REALLY sucked because he drew his sword multiple times.
seaFoodSifu 6 months ago
@seaFoodSifu who said bruce lee has ever drawn his sword, he only "drew" it in some movies, that doesn t mean he fought for real
get real a kung fu movie isn t real kung fu
and just like TheMartialartsJedi said, it looks like you sucked in kung fu
TheIcERoq 5 months ago
@TheIcERoq After reading your comment, I realize you are the stupidest person here. Bruce Lee is notorious for combat sports and the evolution of fighting itself. He fought for real more than he actually did films. Do you know anything about his life? I know well enough a movie fight isn't real... I never even implied that. Well, like I told MartialArtsJedi, I was top of my class in Kung Fu and asked to start a new academy. Now I'm a MMA fighter. Yes, I definitely suck... and where are you?
seaFoodSifu 5 months ago
@seaFoodSifu i think you are absolutly wrong, i consider you the best fighter of the world, only you can decide which martial art is effective or usefull, please take me as your student i want to become so good as you are
TheIcERoq 5 months ago
@TheIcERoq Your sarcasm and lack of intellect in our discussion just shows how pathetic you are. Don't be such a keyboard warrior next time- you got nothing.
seaFoodSifu 5 months ago
@seaFoodSifu of course i got nothing, that s why i m messing with you :P
