  • The Master

  • The best to ever rhyme on a beat. Peace.

  • nas and prodigy trynna be this man and grap...

  • Nobody - and I mean nobody - can defeat or come close to brother Rakim. Just listen to the 1988 joint "Let The Rythm Hit "Em" and it's game over. He's just too dope for his own good!!!

  • was it just me or did he sound like he was ryming when he was talking for the interviewer

  • @MrEratk Sure does . . .

  • pull out and bust thats what i said

  • When it comes to both Big Daddy Kane and Rakim Rapping, the money doesn't matter, the LYRICS DO!!

  • The Best To Ever Do It! Thanks Sun God for bringing the mental back! Yall know the Flave Bedrock Style!

  • did that idiot just pronounce a hard c in "lyricism"?

  • @JDev82 That '"idiot" is Chuck D. Show some respect motherfucker!

  • @BillyCorganlikespie hey i came up on public enemy, all due respect to chuck, been in the game going on 25 30 years, but after all that time, youd think youd learn to pronounce one of the most used words in the culture.

  • he giving me some good tips on how to write more lyrics

  • Rakim is the George Washington of Mount Rushmore in HIP-HOP, but with a better profile. Nobody spits with the depth and fluidity of The "R. Have you seen or heard Rakim battel freestyle? I have; he's devastating! Even Eminem when asked who he'd hate to battle, he replied: "The 'R', man...we're all disciples." Rakim is a mad motherfucker, there are many followers, but the Leader leads.

  • the best ever

  • YOU DONT KNOW SHIT RAKIM WAS ABOUT RAW MUSIC BACK IN THE DAY HE JUST GOT ON SOME SPIRIYUAL SHIT TRUST ME I KNOW HIM HE'S MY OTHER FATHER LOOK AT THE FLOW YOU SPITTEN. THAT WAS HIS 3RD ALBUM YOU DIZZY ASS NIGGA

  • you know what im saying?

  • SICK AS FUCK

  • thats a FAT chain boy lol.

  • @makpak - If you want to see more of those chains in videos at that time, search for: Slick Rick - Teenage Love

Big Daddy Kane - Rap Summary (Lean on Me) - Big Daddy Kane ends up taking Slick Rick's "teenage love" in the video for Slick Rick -Teenage Love

  • THis is truly the Hip Hops greatest MC that have ever lived and Its good to see my Main Dude S.I.D in the vid. Peace my dudes. Keep doing it.

  • praise Rakim allah!!!

  • @Tragedy1191 NO PRAISE ALLAH RAKIM IS NOT ALLAH ALLAH IS ONE

  • Comment removed

  • Wasn't that the verse from "The Punisher" off the Don't Sweat the Technique album?

  • Yeah it was

  • Aquarian God! This life writes the script for the next..and so on.. 'Wonder what you did in ur pastlife to merit this one?..We already know what you'll be doing in ur next. I preparing to bore u a girl in the next... Thanks for the lyrics & divine presence.

  • the real (hip rap hop)IS from Rakim allah!

    WE Are muslims fo life

  • "when i get writers block, i put the pen down and go into the world and live, then when i put the pen to paper i've got more life to put down" damn so true.

  • holy crap that freestyle was like a freakin adventure un my brain!!! mindgasm

  • Not a freestyle. Its the punisher off Dont sweat the technique album. He does it much faster on the album and the beat is off the chain. TRUE CLASSIC! Several battle rap songs on that one. PASS THE HAND grenade is one of my favorites as well.

  • My Father, Rakim... I am here. I am the 7th Angel, and Rakim is God.

Search "Ahmose Rakim", It will all be revealed in my rhymes. I am Rakim Reborn.

  • He is to amazing!!

  • Rhymes Should Be - "Labeled As Art " -"Placed In A Museum" - My Styles Makes Scenery- Cause Now You See Them - "Exibit The Knowledge" It's Packed And Filled With - Nothing illiterate, "It's Facts I Build With" - My Minds Untouchable Which Means Intangable, "Contents Never Dense" - it's Understandable - "I Study Life"- "So I can Live it the Rght Way" - No Time to hear - what another Brother might say - untouchable by rakim

  • All praises due to the God.

  • this era in hip hop fostered graet mcess !!!krs-rakim -kane -slick rick etc the new era is a bunch of pop bretney spears mutha fuckas

  • I ain't scared to battlae no body in the game except the god Rakim.

  • Im sure your nice, but what about KANE? He seems scary in a battle! Even now!

  • the god..

  • I AM a Listener!!!

  • aight. i got dat hat now. not as legit as da GOD but i look aight

  • much respect to the god! does anyone know what hat (like team and stuff) that is

  • the illest mc of ALL time!!!!!

  • That verse his spit from the Punisher is insane.

Goddamn this dude was something special. For those of us who are a certain age group we got to grow up with Rakim, Tyson (at his best), Michael Jordan. I could list Michael Jackson and Prince but I won't cuz even tho' they was geniuses...well, you know...

This country had some sick dudes back in the day.

  • Yeah,Kane dropped a few gems, but the rapper`s rapper will always be Rakim.Rah is still touring, still writing original dope lyrics, without bragging and boasting. He was at the Jazz cafe in London last year. One word...LEGEND! kanes nowhere to be seen?

  • man i like that hes wearing the iowa hawkeyes hat thats awesome. rakim is one of the best.

  • Can somebody tell me the name of this movie??? Thanks!!!

  • Ra also had these lines that referenced some lines from Set It Off ... ! Kane says: "save the bass for the pipe and rearrange the tone. Or take a loss and be forced in the danger zone". Rakim says: "It's a Danger Zone. Should'a arranged his own. Go face it. It's basic go race and change your tone!" And then there was the "You said you're coming but you came to late, so I wait". A reference to the beginning of Raw. The Follow The Leader album is littered with little digs at Kane.

  • He also hit up EPMD on the same verse with "a brother said 'dig him' I never dug him, he couldn't follow the leader so I drug him."

No one ever came back at Rah because everyone knew they ripped his flow and his somber vocal style.

He's literally the father of the modern rhyme flow. the goat

  • WORD TO GOD!!!!

  • just pause that shit at 1:04

that shit is fresh, i don't know why the fuck rainbow colors and flowery shit is in style nowadays

  • Is that Chuck D narrating. Rakim greatest MC of all time.

  • Word to "Daddy Kane" Indeed, The "R" is a Rollin Stone, so Im Rollin, "Directions were told Then", "The Rhymes Are Stolen".

I want to see who keep Following and swallowing, Taking the Makings , Biting And Borrowing. "Rhymes Are As Deep As X-Rays". Far as The Eye could See, Not even A Satelite. No One On Rakim's Level

  • agreed, he's been my favorite for the longest

  • Yo I know he was talking to Kane but the line was word to Daddy indeed. I always told my people he was talking to Kane

  • Minute Maid = Juice! Kane was in the Juice Crew ... so the Minute Maid line is a pun ... a play on words ... !

  • Yeah it was. I mean they were going at it. I mean listen to Kane saying I'm different so don't compare to another cause they can't hang word to the Mother or the fact that the guy in boxing ring looked a lot like Eric B in Ain;t no half stepping video check it out.

  • At the Same time I really felt that Rakim wouldv'e destroyed Kane though

  • they definitely went back and for. Made for some DOPE lyrics back then by both without the violence! DON'T KNOW ABOUT THAT DESTROY KANE THING! Ra is/was my boy but KANE could and CAN hold his own with anybody!!!! even the god mc!

  • I agree but I give the edge to the R

  • Ra also had these lines that referenced some lines from Set It Off ... ! Kane says: "save the bass for the pipe and rearrange the tone. Or take a loss and be forced in the danger zone". Rakim says: "It's a Danger Zone. Should'a arranged his own. Go face it. It's basic go race and change your tone!" And then there was the "You said you're coming but you came to late, so I wait". A reference to the beginning of Raw. The Follow The Leader album is littered with little digs at Kane.

  • It's "word to daddy, indeed"
